    Just saw it. Rest assured this is a hate it or love it film. I personally loved it. It's rare a film this uncompromising and relentlessly provocative gets made with this kind of talent behind it. It's a totally different film from Argento's which is why it worked for me. Luca did an absolutely amazing job here, as did everyone involved. Masterpiece

    Mother suspiriorum coming in and ridding all the imposters who harmed innocents in quest for power yet showing compassion by granting a peaceful death to the three and klemperer ridding his memories of the horror and loss of his wife....the cinematography, acting, hauntingly beautiful score juxtaposing the horrors of the coven and post holocaust, shows the extremes of horror and compassion..just great movie, so many layers, as well as all female cast..loved this masterpiece
    'for whom were you annointed...I am SHE'
    'sweet girl, what do you ask'
    'I regret what my daughters did to you, I feel you deserve to know the truth'
    'we need guilt and shame, doctor, but not yours'

    I’m tired of this angle. “What’s it like to be the villain. There must be sympathy. We’re not good or evil exclusively.” I agree with the last part but The sympathy written for Swinton’s Madame Blanc is damn near shown as a white witch! Haha it’s ridiculous. She helped, cruelly Murder many girls. Her painting in the basement says it all. She’s Markos prodigy. They obviously had conflict but at the end of the day Blanc was on board with what was going on. She suggested the “witness.” How cruel. It was nice to see the real mother was kind to those that deserved it and I liked Dakota at the end but it doesn’t seem very realistic. The original trilogy is pretty fascinating and there is nothing good about these witches.

    Dario Argento is a completely original and singular director with an artistic vision. The original 1977 "Suspiria" was a masterpiece of sight and sound that hadn't been seen before. What this guy made has absolutely no relation in any way to that and the use of the name is an insult.

    This movie was perfect aside from the Epilogue, which was unnecessary (overall it's too long), and the awful awful score. It could have used more colors aside from red, like the blue and green and purple and yellow from 77. But overall, a near flawless picture.

  • @jennyh5641
    @jennyh5641 6 лет назад +3

    Is it just me or is this director totally pretentious? He claims he wants to be a horror film director but this film is not even as horrifying or suspenseful as it could have been. It overextended itself into pointless subplots that took away from the suspense of the film, and showing the witches' perspective created a comedic undertone that I didn't think was necessary at all. Going into the villains' world and watching them do mundane things like having conversations and eating dinners generally creates sympathy and takes the fear the audience has for the villain away. For Guadagnino to see himself as a horror director is about as laughable as some parts of this movie. He is no master of horror.

      @thesummerland6165 3 года назад

      hahaha, you obviously missed the entire point of the film
      and not everyone is a pretentious, infantile, arrogant european
      just bc factual reality is depicted that doesn't comply with 'your' myopic worldview doesn't make it propoganda
      there has been disempowerment of women and other disenfranchised groups which has led to atrocities such as ethnic cleansing/holocaust, the greed of capitalism does in fact kill, and art is often a depiction of life, in both it's horrors and beauty
      my family is european and I'm american, many americans are brainwashed to believe greed/capitalism is good, and 'democratic communism' is an oxymoron
      calling something propoganda bc it depicts real life facts which differs from your myopic pov is infantile
