I thought I can buy a brand new one for that! so I paid the fee for them to figure out what was wrong with it and left. Thanks to you I'm going to clean the carb again. I tried it before but the video I watched wasn't as in-depth as this one. Thank you! The tips like the welding tip cleaner and the chainsaw file are AWESOME! I just repaired a like new mower that was donated to our club. Would not start when warm with the choke wide open. Would start with starting fluid or choking it manually. Watched this video a few times
Turned out the brass insert in the carb body was plugged with white gunk. The bowl was clean and the main jet was fairly clean.
Starts now with one pull, hot or cold. Thanks, Steve!

Thank you for this video. I like your style of teaching. I was able to get my pressure washer running again. Honestly, the biggest challenge for me was getting the dang thing off the engine. I've had bad luck in the past disassembling things. Too many parts left over so this time, I was very careful, took lots of pictures and wrote down my removal steps. That made it easier to reassemble and make sure I didn't leave anything off. Again. Thanks so much

Nicely done. I had one of those 1 out of 10 carbs where cleaning the bottom nut did not resolve the problem. Engine started and then immediately died. Most videos just discussed how to clean the bottom nut. Thanks for going the extra mile for us 10% folks. :-) Your video helped me pull the carb, poke through all of the passages, and clean it thoroughly...the mower is running like a top again. Thank you!!!

If you know someone who plays guitar, ask them for an old "B" string that they might have after changing strings. It's the perfect size for cleaning carbs!

I've been useing the smallest E string since 1978, works great for 4wheelers n Harleys, small primary jet

I hadn’t been able to get my pressure washer running for over a year. I had the carburetor off last year and cleaned all I could but I didn’t realize the bottom bolt was the main jet so I didn’t clean it. I took it off today and cleaned it all including the main jet. Took fuel tank and lines off and blew them out. Put everything back together and started on 5th pull. Thanks Steve.

Clear instructions, great close ups. Now praying to find parts for two old lawnmowers...Noma Brute 6 hp and Murray. Carb cleaning was leaking gas.

This helped me. I had the brass jet apart 2 times, cleaning it out. I got it running a little bit, for 20 seconds at a time. Then you explained how to clean out the little jet center hole with a bread wrapper wire. So I took my jet out again. Holy crap, that thing was full of hard black junk. After reaming it with the bread wrapper wire and blowing it out, reinstalled the jet. Now I'm using my push mower again for the first time in 2 years. Thanks!

I'm working on a Briggs 190cc that only starts when I spray a lirtle starting fluid in the carb. Then it starts and atays running. No primer plunger exists. Any helpful clues? Thank you!!!

I also like steel wool for heavily soiled carb bowls. Couple other things to add. Wear safety glasses around carb cleaner and use outdoors. Stuff wreaks. Don't use any object larger than the hole for cleaning you don't want to enlarge them. Especially on the main jet. Also, inspect the tip of the needle for a groove it indicates if it needs to be replaced. One other thing. I dont like to get carb cleaner on the rubber gaskets, especially on older ones. Seems to dry them out and they'll fail. Remove before cleaning, carefully with a razor blade

Just discovered your channel. Nice videos bud! Suggestion: Maybe include some actual dirty carbs or whatever it is that needs to be cleaned or worked on rather than a 'prop' carb that's already in perfect condition. It would be cool to see you work your magic in real life!

Hi Steve, Just wanted to drop you a line and say thanks again for your videos.I have a Toro 30" walk behind mower with a briggs engine. It has worked good for a long time. I just finished cutting grass and took a break, mower was working good. After break, started the engine, engaged the blades and it died. Started it again started and shut off right away. Remembered this video and comment about why engines sugre. I removed the fuel bowl and cleaned the jet, ran carb cleaner thru it, bowel was clean. Put it back on and it started right up, problem fixed. Thanks again Steve.

That is what I use [soft drawn copper] and it is softer than the metal I'm cleaning, so it won't hurt the carb metal.

Thank you! My husband and father have been tinkering with the carburetor on our wood chipper for a few days. So today, I googled how to clean the carburetor and found your video. 3:30 into video showed what our problem was! That little bolt at the bottom of the fuel well was super clogged. Easy as pie! Actually, making pie is kinda hard. This was as easy as buying a pie. Thanks!

Hey Steve, Thank you so much for this vid! As it has saved me big dollars for a new mower, as my 15yr old Masport with a 650I/C (12J902) Briggs & Stratton just needed a carb clean! It was down on power and just a spark plug change didn’t fix it. When i pulled the carb down it didn’t look dirty at all, but now its back together it’s running a lot better.
