I've also only had one "special" ZA that failed the bear run. Main healer had taken a lot of edibles and wasn't expecting to raid, second healer was a respecced shadow priest, one new person who hadn't ran ZA, and several tired people not on their game. It was like the perfect storm of mediocrity, haha.
As a grob transfer I can tell you why, when free transfers happened about 2 months ago grobb was 60% alliance server; horde from 7 different servers maybe 22ish guilds, plus a bunch of other followers, coordinated a move to grobb together
You guys should have taken the ad one step further and went with a tag line. "Keep your ball game as a tight as your dps rotation if you want to parse well with the ladies"
DUAL SPEC! This really should have been available once they realized people want to PvP and PvE in classic vanilla, and especially now in TBC. The current gold sink required to play both aspects of the game consistently is really casual unfriendly, and a big reason why the friends I brought to the game quit. Some of them wanted to PvP, some wanted to PvE, but they couldn’t do both while working full time so eventually they all just quit. This change with the chronoboons or a chronoboon-like change implemented early in classic vanilla would have made a HUGE difference to the player base and would have kept a lot more people around in my opinion.
Classic Class balance would have been a game changer for classic….leaving it almost identical as before was cool for about a week. Add in duel spec and bring weaker performing classes in line with other meta.
my biggest complaint is blizzard releasing new raids on Wed or Thursday as my guilds raid tues/wed, and there are bugs that are not being fixed. (BT trash to Gorefiend aggroing souls, sometimes wiping the raid and KT Telonicus threat reset bug if outranged, this probably killed many guilds during KT progression)
Yeah man that shit was annoying, we had a bug on Reliquary where it would only change tank targets if you jumped in front of it, trying to just out range it to drop aggro wasn't working. We actually called it quits that night, came back the next week after patch and worked as intended.
As a day 1 horde grob mob member, we had mainly been alliance dominated until recent free transfer shenanigans. Before it was getting dangerously close to 30-70 in favor of alliance but when the free transfer arose I believe leaders within the grob horde community reached out to horde guilds on fairbanks to come over to create a balance. And the horde leadership and organization on grob is also why the horde lasted so long. Alliance always seemed to have numbers but the horde were better at getting people to come together. And the RP definitely helps.
Day 1 Original Grobster, except I'm alliance. Never noticed a huge difference in the population. But I stopped playing for a while after late phase 2. But grob is the best server hands down.
#1 worst thing in Classic was not touching class balance. Some classes doing less than half the DPS of the top classes was incredibly frustrating and stupid, and even the top classes were not balanced particularly well with each other either.
Classic needs upgraded for it to live on…It’s very weak at its core in 2022. The slog to do anything was cool in 2004. It needs something to get that fire back.
Don't forget most people were screaming NO CHANGES very loud. Most Classic changes were late because of that mentality. Now players learned that no changes is a bad thing and dev too. Wotlk is going to be executed better (copium).
Phase 1 being too slow killed my guild. Our whole goal was to go hard for T5 but people were so bored from the long phase 1 that as soon as we cleared T5 on PTR the guild just disbanded as everyone quit Classic because they couldn't face the inevitable long T5 grind.
i know this is 3 months old but to make it very clear: Classic IS a rerelease of an old game and tere are those people that like old games and wanted an official option to play that old game. that is WHY classic exists those that want the best possible modern videogame can go to retail and lobby for changes to make it better there but please do not ruin wow classic for those of us that do not have a game if this ship sinks. the parsers and pvpers and speedrunners do not give a crap what game they play and will find different things to play but those of us that loved old world of warcraft and play classic because of that have nowhere else to go if blizzards fucks up classic
1. GDKPs and the Pay 2 Win / FOMO endgame meta. Everything is GDKP now. People organizing and playing the game to make a meager living on gold selling. It makes the game feel sleezy and degenerate. Goes against the social and community fundamentals of the game. "Buyer" mentality: you can be bad, you can not care, but as long as you swipe your credit card and pay us, we love you. This is however not a Blizzard mistake but rather the modern game's community that drives it. In my opinion, the only way to make GDKP / P2W not the majority of the endgame is to have challenging group content for the best end game gear and achievements. To see this in action, look at how the daily GDKP meta boomed going from t5 to t6. It's very diferent if you can carry 2-3 people in a 25m raid, compared to an entire raid.

100% I would've pvp'ed in TBC if the initial cost was lower to get into. I don't bother with pvp now and really have no desire. PTR made speed running and "world first" races a joke. What is the fun of speedrunning if you're just grinding nonstop on the PTR for practice? A more organic approach would've made these much more entertaining.

We actually do talk about the retail issue vs making changes, check timestamped 58 mins onwards. The alternative to retail shouldn't be 'let's refuse to make changes and let the game die' but rather 'let's make smart changes that learn from retail mistakes'

My vote is to upgrade or take another path moving forward with classic or TBC classic….the material is stagnant.
