Well done my friend. so many knowledgeable mechanics that have zero presentation skills. video was very easy to watch. Subscribed and checking out your library.
Thank you so much Casey! I'm so glad I could help. I try to keep this light and interesting and explain it in a way that will help others, no matter what level of experience.
If I may: Edge vehicles of this age need to have the Emergency Parking Brake put in `Maintenance Mode' prior to and out again after install. The parts should be cleaned with Brake solvent, the sliders and contact points need to be lubed. I won't mention PPE, I promise. During install ensure the bolts are tightened to the correct torque (an Allen Key won't work, you need an Allen Wrench). Apart from that it was all quite good.
@@camronsexton8233 Well, not really. An Allen wrench allows a torque wrench to be used. I suppose it's semantics really, but I'm British where the nomenclature may be different.
@@Tyani-sz6cg Sorry, just saw this. There is a procedure to put the EBS into Maintenance Mode, which is readily available on line. If you still need this, just ask and I'll dig it up for you.
Graham Miller makes all very good points. Failure to put the Electronic Parking Brake (EPB) in maintenance mode could result in damaging the parking brake motor and those are not inexpensive. Failure to do it correctly could result in a reasonably inexpensive brake job costing you several hundred dollars. Get the right information BEFORE you tackle your repair job. Clean all of your parts, and lubricate those points that are supposed to slide freely or you'll be replacing pads far too soon because of uneven wear.
Do all pads for these have the atupid alingment tabs on the back for the brake cylinder? Mine isnt lining up without turning the cylinder put almost 180°
on my 2017 Edge, I was able to push the piston back in the brake cylinder about half-way, then had to rotate the piston the rest of the way. If you don't have the special tool for rotating the piston, a good set of needle nose pliers will work. Be very careful if you use a giant c-clamp, if it doesn't rotate the piston, you can break things...
Need to put vehicle in service mode. Turn ignition on hold gas pedal to floor push down on parking brake switch service brake mode will start flashing. When brake job is finished turn ignition back on pull up on parking brake switch with gas pedal to the floor
I have a 2017 edge titanium, to engage the parking brake maintenance mode I had to turn the ignition on hold the gas pedal down and hold the parking brake button down then turn the ignition off and turn the ignition back on while still holding the button and gas and then it was good
I think the rotors were in pretty decent shape. The mileage is low, I will probably change them next time around if we still own the car at that point.

I have to do this for a buddy's Ford edge soon, I appreciate the information. I too, often work in sandals, so love it!
Glad I could help! Yeah, not the safest practice, but you know…

Can you elaborate on this a bit? Have to work on my friends Edge and wanna make sure it's done correctly.
Allen key and Allen wrench are the same thing lmao

Thank you. Good feedback. I'm always learning right along with all of us DIY-ers.

To be honest, it's been a couple of years and I cannot remember. Good luck!

The OEM pads had the grove in the middle as well, your breaks are just so far gone you’ve past the grove
Good to know!
Well done😊
Thanks! 😊
should I set the ebrake
No. You can't remove the pads if they are set.
I think you forgot to show us how to put the rear parking brakes into maintenance mode before going into the job of removing the calipers
Sorry about that!
I’m having an issue with the slide bolts
What issue are you having?
What was the torque spec on the caliper slide bolts and the wheels?
I'm not sure. I'm sure you can look it up online.
Quality information, can't even look up the real information needed for the video you made 🤯@@MicahMartinDIY
all that's left to watch now are those beat up rotors wear the crap out of the new pads.
I think the rotors were in pretty decent shape. The mileage is low, I will probably change them next time around if we still own the car at that point.
@@MicahMartinDIY I have found that solid rear rotors seem to wear pretty fast on these cars.
