    I'm an old guy living in eastern Canada, the land of snow and salt. Your video was so helpful!. I've done many brake jobs on the various vehicles I've owned but these were the simplist and fastest that I've ever done. My son timed it and it took 20 minutes to do one side rotors and pads. And I was using the scissor jack the truck came with. I wish all vehicles had this type of setup. I was expecting a tough miserable job, but your video gave me the confidence to tacle this and I was amazed. Thank you so much.

    Awesome video and advice! I will be tackling this job myself soon on my 2018 F150 with the Power Stop Z36 slotted rotors and new brake pads and looks simple enough. I’ll have time to pick up the brake pad tool kit too make life easier. Thanks again for the video!

    did you know if you dont put in maintance mode you can take the plastic cover off the break caliper and take a torque bit screw the sensor in and go compress the plunger in like you always do.

    I did not know about the maintenance mode on my 2018 and I spun the rear caliper piston counter clockwise and it was able to depress. . I hope I did not damage the parking brake . It seems to stop fime

    Best video, I have always lubed the ears? Also, always good to brake clean or soap and water wash of rotors first. I never opened brake reservoir before, that I will use next time

    I just did my rear brakes on my 2015 f150 I didn’t put my e brake into service mode, however I never compress the cylinder until I realized that I needed to, I was able to pull the caliper off without having to even compress the cylinder, however after changing the pads, my brake pedal is going down to the floor, and I don’t believe my back brakes are engaging, could this be because I pulled the caliper off without putting it into maintenance mode before compressing the cylinder?

    Quick question regarding a element that I missed while replacing front brake pads on my 2018 Ford F-150! When removing caliper bolts (13mm) X 2, I didn’t realize I needed to hold back nuts on caliper bolts when removing and replacing bolts! I used an impact wrench to remove and replace these bolts without holding nut and they all seemed to tighten okay - but now I’m worried that I may have messed up? Do you think by not having a backup wrench to hold caliper nuts while torturing bolts?
    I’m about to start replacing my rear brake pads…this is one step that I won’t forget when doing the rear pads!!!

      As long as they tightened ok, I wouldn’t worry about it. I’ve done many brake jobs on these trucks (and other vehicles that have the same setup with the hex nut on the end of the slide pin) and on some, the bolts come out without a fight, and on others, the whole slide pin turns with the bolt and you have to hold the hex nut in order to loosen or tighten the bolts. If you feel like the bolts tightened ok then they’ll be fine!

    Just watched your short on lubing the brake pad ears and not to do it to put them in clean . It is a mistake I have been making and wanted to thank you for the good advice.(Just a backyard mechanic)

      I’ve seen many respectable mechanics use lube in between the brake hardware and the caliper bracket to prevent rust build up (basically lubing underneath the brake hardware, but not on top where the pads go) so that’s one place that may be a good idea! Thanks for watching!

    Thats the only difference is maintenance mode? I knew it couldnt of been that bad. Thank you so much for this video. Im curious how much you guys charge to change pads for electronic brakes? We have mechanical places here charging almost $800, because they say electronic brakes are harder. Now im going to do it myself. Thanks again!

      We charge the same as regular brakes! It’s really not any harder. It only takes a few seconds to put the truck in and out of maintenance mode!

      @jackhfletcher they mentioned it cost more because it has to be ran through a machine after replacing? Sounds like they just scam everyone. Unless you know what they mean?

      I’ve never heard of such a thing. We’ve done tons of these brakes at our shop and we’ve never had to do anything different other than taking the truck in and out of maintenance mode.

      You don’t need to change the caliper as part of a normal brake job unless there’s something wrong with it.
