  • In this video I replace the rear brakes on my 2018 F150. My truck is at about 55k miles and just started to grind when braking. I believe I have an easy way to replace the brake pads and rotors. The front brakes are easier to do than the rear and this video will help with that as well. There is a very important step to follow if you have a electronic park brake, so make sure you pay attention to that part of the video. I am not a mechanic but I love to save money doing things myself. With that being said make sure you follow all of YOUR trucks manufacture recommendations with any work you do on your truck. This video is for entertainment purposes only.
    I hope this will encourage you to try to do this yourself. Below will be some affiliated links for some of the stuff I used in this video. If you use them you will not spend anymore but I will get a commission if you do. This helps my channel grow if you do. Thanks for watching and don't forget to like and subscribe.

    Great vid on explaining what to do if you have the electric parking brake! The one thing I would add is whenever you are putting new rotors on always spray them down with "Brake Cleaner", because they come with a lite layer of oil on them from the factory so they don't start rusting while sitting on the shelf!

      Hey! Thanks for the kind words. I agree with you. I did that but failed to mention it. I will pin this comment to the top and hopefully people will see it and do just that. I appreciate your input! Thanks!!

      Good point. Not all rotors come with the oil though.

    Follow this guy’s steps. This is the most thorough explanation that I’ve seen especially on the electronic brake. Good job.

    I’m a DIYer myself and this is one of the best videos I’ve come across on any subject. I’m also a former US Army diesel mechanic but have never had to put a park brake in maintenance mode before. The advice to go ahead and buy rotors is priceless. In my case I’m replacing all fours, pads and rotors for 345.00 myself instead of paying 7 - 800.00 at a shop or even more. Thanks for the video.

    Great video. Bought my brakes today. Ive changed plenty of brakes in my life, but none with electric parking brake. Your explanation of how to get into maintenance mode was perfect. Thank you.

    Grease pins and c clamp could damage parking brake actuator, use proper tool to push pistons in.

    I know I could have done that if I’d seen your video sooner but ended up letting the dealer do it at $393….( they turned rotors as still good). I had been told by someone he damaged his electronic brake system and he ended up with $2000 in repairs so it scared me off. I’ve done brakes on older vehicles I had without a problem. I wouldn’t have know about that maintenance mode…only knew about the tpms training mode because I’d dealt with that. Thanks, good tip about rotors too 👏🏻

    you needed to put the grease on the pins inside the rubber boots. The ones that were twisting. This helps the caliper float better on those pins.

    I have a 2019 F150. The manual says 150 foot pounds torque on the Lugnuts. You might want to double check your numbers.

    • @TripleTAcres
      @TripleTAcres  Месяц назад

      That’s exactly why I told everyone to refer to their manual. I appreciate your input!

    Hello
    Quick question
    You don't have to bleed it?
    It self bleeds?

    • @TripleTAcres
      @TripleTAcres  5 месяцев назад +1

      No bleeding is necessary. You only bleed the air out of brakes when you are replacing a line or opening the fluid system itself.

    Has a shop today when i was getting state inspection, tell me it took a $200 computer to put the ebrake into maintenence mode when i told them i'd replace the brakes myself and bring it back to get checked. Well, he was lying.

    • @TripleTAcres
      @TripleTAcres  4 месяца назад

      Man that sucks! He was definitely lying. Hopefully you didn’t have them do it.

    • @Bearbait01
      @Bearbait01 4 месяца назад +1

      @TripleTAcres Nope, I told him I was going to search it on RUclips and see if he was right. He was wrong. He wanted to charge me $680 for rear brakes and he could "get it done today" yeaaaaaahhhh I'm not falling for the sales pitch.
      I was almost mad with Ford for making it so consumers couldn't even replace their own damn brakes without a fancy computer that only a dealer/big name shop would have access to.
