This was absolutely amazing. You were spot on with everything. I used all of your advice and followed along with your video and I was able to do this by myself. I cannot thank you enough!
Your vidio's are awesome, I have a 2017 ford edge and I changed the front brakes but I cannot keep the spring clip on. I did see that I was missing the one on the driver side. How can I keep it on. Thay are new clips
@@dannyjohnsonsgarage Thank you for getting back with me. I figured it out, after putting them in place I took a screwdriver and pressed on the clip at the two round areas and this locked the clips in place.
The video is very helpful. I recommend you add a few more things for the shopping list like the brake lubricant and the loctite…. I know it’s a no brainer as you go through your instructions but for first timers…. lol saves a few trip. Regardless, following this instruction and finally coming to a completion for the one side. Question, for the other side of the break, should I leave the brake fluid cover off while I switch side? And how flush is flushed for the pistons? On mine, I see it slightly raised…. Is that ok?
If you are doing both wheels at the same time, leave the cap off. If you are going to lower the car back down and then switch to the other side and would be pushing the brake pedal for any reason, don’t leave the cap off. I’ll add loctite to the list. Thanks!
I know this is the front brakes, but do you NOT apply the parking break maintenance mode? Your other video for the rear brakes recommended to use “parking brake maintenance mode”.? Thanks
Parking brake maintenance mode is for the parking brakes, which are only on the rear. It’s so you do not damage the electronic motor for the rear parking brakes
@@edwinjiman1/2 will be stronger and more available torque, BUT i highly recommend a 3/8 impact for more versatility and cheaper impact sockets as well. You’ll see a $50-$100 difference in sets. 3/8 will get the same job done every time but will take an extra second unless you’re working on larger platforms like duallys, tractors and larger
It shouldn’t be a problem with the master cylinder cap removed as shown. I would also watch this for the rear brakes where service mode is required, but only for the electric parking brake ruclips.net/video/nLrcULCzzgw/видео.htmlsi=9WpZcpG0nAkLaVlt
There are one way valves in the brake system that can be damaged if you don’t use the bleeder on the caliper. There is a reason there is a bleeder valve…
yeah I checked Lowe’s and harbor freight no body had an 11 or a 7/16 that didn’t come in a set, had to buy it on the amazon link you provided thanks for the video.. btw what year is the car?
Your filming was great, very clear and your commentary was right to the point. You had exact sizes of all tools and torque settings. One stop shop for the front breaks. Do you plan on making a vid on the rear breaks? Or the maintenance mode at least?
Don’t use RED lock tite. In this video I used BLUE and you can already see it was there from the factory on the caliper mounting bolts. If you don’t the bolts vibrate loose

Are they the same clips or new ones? They are so tight I’m surprised they aren’t staying on unless they are not correct, worn out, or installed wrong

If your having trouble finding an 11 like I did went to 3 stores only had a 10mm it will work in a pinch
Great video thanks! I might disagree with using Red N Tacky for brake applications. Not sure if it's rated for high enough temperatures for brakes.

BIG THANKS for the comprehensive video~!
Thank for this great video. I have to change out pads and rotors on my mom's Edge.

For the impact wrench gun, would it be possible to use a regular dewalt drill? Or does it have to be an impact wrench gun?
It’s best to break it loose first, then you can use a drill or impact. You can try the drill but it might not be strong enough
@ for impact gun, does it matter if it’s 1/2 inch or the 3/8? Getting my shopping list together
@ 1/2” will be much stronger Impact Wrench Comparison Dewalt & Ingersol Rand, which has the best Uga Doogas

By you opening the brake resovoir aren’t you putting air back into the lines and need bleeding?
No, no air will get in the system unless the level gets too low to where you start sucking air past the cylinder
@@dannyjohnsonsgarage ok perfect. Thank you 😊
I just did mine with your video🎉🎉
When removing the caliper bracket, make sure to use a 6-point socket.
What kind of drill did you use?
DeWalt 899. It has to be a bit stubby to fit
Are there no worries about the ABS system being affected by just pushing the caliper pistons back in?

This only works for stock brakes correct? I have rotora brakes and last time I took it in to the shop they charged me 1100$.
Yes, this would be for the stock brakes you see in the video
The set you posted doesn’t have a size 11 HEX
Thanks for letting me know! I can’t believe how many sets skip 11mm. I’m not certain 10mm or 12mm will fit so I removed that link

11mm odd.
NEVER USE LOCK TIGHT, someone has to unloosen that after you
