    Thank you so much for this video. I've done many brake pads before but never dealt with my car having a parking brake maintenance mode. I would've definitely missed this step.

    Great video... I was almost scared away from attempting to do the job myself, because a guy at O'Reilly's told me I needed to have a $3000 computer to send the codes to release the calipers. Glad I didn't listen to him. I followed the steps exactly as you presented them, and I was done with both rears in about two hours. Thanks!

    Hey man that was the easiest set of brakes I have ever dealt with , great video..thanks

    I'm glad you showed everthing needed and how to do it. These new brakes are unnecessarily difficult because of new engineering.

    So i have 2016 ford edge titanium. New rotor and pads and didnt turn pistion back in to the caliper. Does this reset the caliper pressures back to normal by doing this? I currently have grinding noise when driving because its applying pressure for the old brakes.

    • @dannyjohnsonsgarage
      @dannyjohnsonsgarage  Месяц назад

      @@tylertroxel1360 as soon as you push on the brakes for the first time, it goes back to where it should be, regardless of if you pushed the piston in or not. You are only pushing the piston in to allow the new pads fit as the new pads are thicker and not worn down. I would ensure the pads are facing the rotor and not in backwards. If you didn’t turn off the power brake system and put it into park brake maintenance mode, it may have damaged the system

    Would anyone have the torque values for the guide pins and caliper bracket bolts ?

    Do you actually have to do that “Park brake maintenance” on a 2018 2.0L?
    I’m about to attempt that and see but I don’t have all those fancy electronics in mine. That looks like the titanium edge

    • @dannyjohnsonsgarage
      @dannyjohnsonsgarage  2 месяца назад

      If you have the electronic parking brake it will need to be in that mode for the rear brakes

    Why do some pistons need to twist to collapse and some dont?

    • @dannyjohnsonsgarage
      @dannyjohnsonsgarage  7 месяцев назад +1

      I’m not sure why they have the 2 different styles. It’s usually on rear brakes but I’ve seen the same model of car have one and the other

      I think its to keep you from over opening them and causing damage

      @ yessir you were correct. I got the parking brake maintenance mode to pop up but just wondered if I should leave my car turned on in accessory mode while I perform the brake change

    • @dannyjohnsonsgarage
      @dannyjohnsonsgarage  2 месяца назад +1

      @ I don’t believe it’s necessary and could drain the battery. Once complete, take it out of maintenance mode as shown in the video.

    have a 2020 Nautilus which takes the same pads and rotors can I assume the replacement is the same? Also do you have a recomendation on a brand of pads and rotors ? thanks

    • @dannyjohnsonsgarage
      @dannyjohnsonsgarage  6 месяцев назад

      I imagine it’s the same process. As long as you get the top quality at the parts store, most work just fine. These were the duralast gold from autozone.

    • @Chevroldsmobuiac
      @Chevroldsmobuiac 3 месяца назад

      I've had bad luck with rotors at AutoZone, even with the "Gold" level. Their pads are fine, rotors are bad news.

    Great video, helped a lot. One minor detail...turn the switch on, then do the pedal and parking brake button, then it's "off and on" instead of "on and off".

      Agreed. I didn’t even know that part of the process existed. I just left my e-brake on and took the tires off the first few times

      Want to add that when you put the new pads in, the notches in the caliper piston are supposed to line up with the raised dots on the pad. I’ve heard if that’s not lined up the pad will wear unevenly.

    Be careful with using an impact to loosen these ford luggage nuts. They have an aluminum cap that if it heats up from the impact hammering away it could deform and get stuck on. Always break them loose like ypu didn't to extend the life of them.
