One of the most overlooked bands of the 70's and 80's. I put them in my Top 5 in all categories.
Such good songs and nice guys, down to earth!
I loved them 🌹
Could not agree more and it broke Ritchie’s heart.
@Gary Snow actually Poco suffered from getting very little radio play, never got the oxygen to take off like they deserved
Poco was part of a truly Golden Era of music. West Coast Country Rock scene (Byrds, Poco, Buffalo Springfield, Moby Grape, CSNY, Eagles on and on) were as impactful as The Beatles or Elvis or Motown. They will never be replaced. They will never be forgotten. They are the reason I've performed for 50 years. God Bless them all.
I kind of group Marshall Tucker in this genre too.
@@debrasamson6154 myself as well, I’m a huge POCO & MARSHALL TUCKER FAN. My hubby passed at age 42 byt we fell in love at age 18-20 over these bands nd so many others in this genre. POCO deserved so many accolades for their writing, music, beautiful vocals nd it ticks me off that eagles, whom i love, got so much playtime nd Poco didnt but should have!!!! Anyway we agree! I love Tim Schmidt’s vocals nd bass style❣️♥️
Jim Goodman…100% AGREE with you nd great on you❣️👍
And don't forget the Flying Burrito Brothers. Especially Gram Parsons should always be named and remembered when talking about West Coast Country Rock!!
Yes all good music there. I learned guitar back in the mid '60s from Timothy's Dad. One of my first songs I learned was Green Eyed Woman by the New Breed. Schmit's band. He forced me to learn the bass line too.
One of the greatest band line-ups in history.
in this clip Timothy is 68, Rusty ( Nathan Russell) is 69, Richie is 71 and Paul is 72. They may have lost some hair and some of
it may have turned gray but their music and talent is timeless. Thank you Poco for all that you have given us.
Jerry, Amen to That!!
Mens voices get better and better as the age.
What an awesome and Positive influence you guys have had on me and the universe! Thank God for your light shining through!!!
@@rjlarance6012 er no. You get vibrato, dropping of range, and less flexibility of the vocal folds. In their 50's many men develop a boming sound...Elton John, Johnny Halliday...Celine Dion too! But age is not kind, and vibrato is evident here.
I’m their age , few years younger nd have loved these guys my whole life, literally since i was 19 or 20. So crushed out on Tim Schmidt 🥰, his bass playing nd that awesome voice nd sweet face!!!
Wish Randy and Jim were included. Would have been the right thing to do. Such a phenomenal band.
Randy & Jim should definitely have been there. Why weren't they.
Jim OK
POCO was a National Treasure such beautiful music .......
Rusty and Paul, resting in peace, making music together again.
Doubt of its together since they didnt get along in the later years
Mary.Young stated that there was peace between them that settled in after the beak up and asked everyone to stop that kind of talk, Look on YOuTube and you will find multiple reunions Rusty, Paul and the rest. Think twice before posting such messages.. What good comes from that.
Don’t forget Randy Meisner, his contribution can’t be underestimated RIP Randy, such a beautiful man with an astounding voice. ❤
May Rusty rest in peace!
And Paul too...
@@corvandenberg1650 You just ruined my day. Losing too many great ones!
This is one of the luckiest audiences that i can imagine . And Once again , true talent is timeless .
Yep, wish I was there.
I adore them. Paul Cotton is sooooo underrated.
R.I.P Rusty
Thanks for all years of great music
I fell in love with Timothy when he joined Poco. 67 and still love him! Beautiful voice. Beautiful man! Thanks Poco for all the memories!
I'm with you Rita, just wrote a blip on another video how my whole life i crushed out on Timothy Schmidt, such a beautiful man, voice & talented to no end, as they all were. But there is something when he sings the high end on Rose and also Crazy Love. Watch Spiderhead movie, they play Crazy Love perfectly suits the end of this wild & great red pill movie. Chris Hemsworth loving his way right into that song forever lol. Poco never got the accolades for their life of music that they should have!!! We the people sure love them though!!!
There is just no substitute for Rusty Young on lap steel or pedal steel. He's been the constant heartbeat of Poco from the very beginning.
andyinoregon saw rusty play the pedal steel Hendrix style! Such the PHENOMENAL band! Will listen to Poco until death so us part! Lol
Autocorrect sucks, hope y'all can figure it out
Much love!
Don't forget Rusty had a guitar called The Beast!
there have been recent posts (mid April 2021) that Rusty Young has passed away.. his music will live long in the hearts and lives of many others..
It's all about their hearts. The beating of their faith in what they sing.
I found you (Poco) in 1970 Highland, CA (Picken' Up the Pieces) when I was 17, and I never stopped following your personalities and legendary music. I bought, and still have every album and CD produced. Even though time has marched on and I now listen on Spotify, the feeling is still the same. Thank you Rusty, Richie, Paul, Jimmy, George, Timothy and Randy for sharing such a special gift. Poco music has made me feel love in every note, voice and lyric that is distinctly yours.
after all the years, they still had those sweet harmonies that made them one of the greatest of all time. ......how lucky that crowd was !!
Older like many of us, but dang, they still "got it!!!!"
Nice Marie☺
Rusty Young can rock that pedal steel. Great to see Timothy too. They are a great band, so underated. Now they need to be in the national Rock & Roll Hall of Fame. Rock on Poco.
As a fan of Buffalo Springfield, I bought the first Poco Album (Pickin' Up The Pieces ) the moment I saw it in 1969. 53 years later, they are arguably the most underrated country rock band ever. They should be acknowledged musical innovators as well. There weren't a lot of people listening to Poco in 1969. CSY and the Eagles should bow down to these guys every night for making them rich!
An extremely UNDERrated group. GooooooTim!!!
It is my hope that the youth of today will keep Poco alive. Their importance in the progression of American music in which they seamlessly blended country, folk, and rock in such a wonderful genre is hard to understate. Personally I put them above The Byrds which is high praise indeed, and I absolutely love The Byrds. RIP Rusty and Paul, you guys truly carried the water no matter what the changing winds of the music business wrought. I love all you guys and still take tremendous pleasure in listening to your rich musical legacy. And Ritchie you are a true American Iconic legend in my estimation.
I saw Poco in Chico Stae University. In about 1971...i was not really country music fan.but they put on a great show.Very.well recived to a great audience of college students.Littlt did i know i was witnessing the birth of country rock....soon to held regarded by the Eagles.Poco was the first to establish this genre of music. So sad to see they did not the high aclaim they deserved.May the go to live fruitful loves.Bravo Poco..Ritchie Furay...Bravo.
Loved these guys since when I can first remember being aware of music! POCO is the best damn American Band! No one gives as much love or energy in their music!
When I moved to Virginia in 74, the first concert I saw was Poco, Charlie Daniels Band, and Marshall Tucker. To this day, the best concert
I ever went to. I was front row center maybe 25 feet right in front of Timothy Schmit. Then Charlie D. Then Doug Gray. I remember it like
it was yesterday. The biggest WOW hands down was watching Rusty Young. He was very animated and made great facial expressions.
You could just tell he was having a ball up there.
Oh they are so much better than this sound system allows us to hear. I can barely hear the vocals, until the 3rd song. And I love them so ❣️
What a night!! Wish I could have been there just to see Paul do that guitar interlude in Rose of Cimarron. I've watched that so often (once I discovered it here a while ago!) And who cannot but love Richie. I just have to look at him and I'm grinning, bless him. Saw this great interview with him and laughed 'til my eyes watered. He is so precious, so unpretentious. They are all so down to earth, no ego issues. Guess Timothy saw a more profitable future with the Eagles, but I don't know why Randy left. Randy did have a habit of leaving -- Poco, Stone Canyon Band with Rick Nelson, the Eagles. Sad for all his fans. Let's just get these guys into the rock and roll Hall of Fame. It would be criminal if they are not inducted and the sooner the better.
Re: Randy leaving Poco: apparently a conflict over who got to be in the control room during mixing/mixdown. Richie--who was rather controlling at that age--and Jim Messina--who WAS a producer--excluded Randy. By all accounts, Randy is a very easygoing guy. In another interview I just watched here on RUclips, Messina left for about the same reason: Richie was getting frustrated at missing the successes others had (Stills, Young, Schmit), and Messina--who had just gotten married and had producer roots--felt the tension and felt he could just stay in LA and work. I take solace in knowing that all these great guys have gotten together since...able to bury the hatchet..and came together for that one album, too.
I was a lucky 18 kid when the original POCO hit the sunset strip seeing them several times with Meissner and Messina. It was ELECTRIC to say the least in those tiny clubs whose names have passed into oblivion. Great bunch of guys with a groundbreaking sound and flawless delivery. Good feeling to this day. God Bless Pico!
RIP Rusty & Paul ......... Thanks for years of Great Music !!!!
We saw Poco probably 1970 or 1971 at the Capitol Theater: one of the best concerts i ever went to. They all still sound great!
Over the last 20 years I've considered and reconsidered Poco, now particularly because of all the available materials on You Tube, my understanding of how great and unique they were, continues to grow and will.
What can I say, congratulations. Fully deserved. I'll be a fan till I die.
Thanks for archiving this. Very special indeed.
I was lucky enough to see these boys perform in the theater in the round, celebrity theater, Phoenix, in the 70s. More than once. It was as good as it gets
Thanks, Peter! It's a "good feelin' to know" that Poco is recognized for its influence on us!!!
One the best bands in the world and one of my most favorites
Rip now to Paul Cotton! Thanks for the music and the memories!
🥲🥲
The music they created is a big part of the sounds of the 70s and 80s Tim's migration to the Eagles solidified his place as music royalty. Cotton Furay and Young will be remembered for In the Heart of the Night. One of my favorites
Timothy has a golden voice. He Has kept trying and working hard vocally and musically. It is a good time to go solo. In groups he had never the opportunity to shine out.
hE did go solo. I had one of his solo albums in 79.
He has a great new solo album out that he just released last month called "Leap Of Faith". Check it out, the songs are great.
Dropjaw Bertone thank you for your info have a good one.
Thanks! You too!
lidia barrera have you seen and heard this?
One of the dearest bands and sounds of my whole life, since my teenage years back in 1977 to today. Thank you for all the beauty, guys
Same here. Wonderful times 🌹
Me too and always made me happy , especially at live shows of which I was fortunate to have seen many .
Touching how these guys have their emotions in their throat , they put a good feeling in the room that evening , good audio capture to revisit time to time .
Timothy B Schmidt!!! Rock and Roll Legend !!!!
and people today still can't spell his name
These guys sound so darn good! Impressive!! Ageless, Timeless, Kimie Girl:)
So glad to see Paul back up there
+Erik Soer I never got to see them in concert. I never knew that Paul could cut loose like that on guitar. He is fantastic.
+tgear77 he truly is
Paul is an amazing guitar player and is underrated in my opinion
@@rosemariemaldonado5886 Fuck underrated. RUclips ass.
Saw Poco in 1972 and 1973 in St. Louis. Then in October 2015 Rusty, Paul and Richie got together and played the Wildwood Lodge in Steelville, Missouri in a very intimate setting, couches and big chairs. They could not have been nicer to the crowd. They stood around and talked with everyone and signed anything you had. In January that same year, 2015, I saw Paul with his local band at the Schooner's Wharf in Key West. Another great night of music... Sadly Rusty and Paul have left us.
Wow!! Finally!!! The long awaited moment! They should include Randy Meisner!! I love Poco!!! Their first five albums are great..."A good feelin to know "..
I listen to this wonderful performance three nights a week. i am 67 and the music of the the late 60's and the early 70's are my musical home. The sound of the music of Poco gives me chills.
John S.
I am 44, but my musical home is the 60's as well. It helped to have an older sister and brother to have those albums laying around because I dove into them really early. I've been a musician for almost 30 years now too - what a wonderful life of music!
Im 67 nd agree with all of the above. Talented nd wonderful men!!!♥️🥰
Ok, time for national rock and roll hall of fame recognition that is long-deserved!
It has been said that the total control to get in the Rock and Roll hall of fame is held by 3 top people at Rolling Stone Magazine!! They loath POCO
the "not quite a hall of shame" will induct 20 elevator music makers like mafuckingdonna. before they induct anyone else worth a shit.
Jon Wenner was and is still a Dick !!!!!!!!
Best band of the early 70's.
What great and classic rock music these guys have made for decades, and it is wonderful to see them all together being inducted into the Colorado Music Hall of Fame. Hopefully there will be more awards to come.
I saw them at Wildwood Spring Resort in Steelville MO last Thursday without Timothy... but they were still great! It was a concert to remember.
They put on a great concert that night. Plus they mingled with the crowd after the show as long as the crowd was there. They graciously signed my Deliverin' and Crazy Eyes albums and my concert tickets from 1972 and 1973. A night to remember!!!
I lived I Denver in 1973 when I first heard Poco. I fell in love with them and still love to listen to their sweet sounds. RIP to all who have passed.your music remains with us.
As many others have commented, Byrds, Buffalo Springfield, and other folk/contry legendary artists that started crossing music generas in the 60's and 70's, these were some of the best who expanded our musical world.
These guys made my years growing up so much sweeter
The soundtrack of my youth. I'm so thankful.
Great music by a classic band. Thanks for posting this.
Carly Simon, Carol King, Eagles, Jackson Brown, and POCO. Those were the albums I had in 1974.
i was at this show and enjoyed all the bands inducted. We left the show and went to Marlowes next door only to find all the bands there enjoying their night of honor with their fans. A night I will never forget!
I really miss Grantham’s high harmonies especially on Rose Of Cimmarron.
Huh? I mean Tim gets up there.
@@brbadge not that day, he didn't. And we lost Randy ages ago. We need another alto!
Randy Meisner hit Soprano C , incredibly high note in TITTL❤
RIP legends Paul Cotton and Rusty Young
Very much enjoyed watching this video and being reminded of what a great band Poco was and still is.
That is a world of talent right there.
God Bless Rusty and now Paul. Thank you for decades of great music and memories…
Great video. These guys get better with age. RIP Rusty Young Heavens Band just got a little bit sweeter.
This may be the last time Paul and Rusty played together. Paul just passed away yesterday. Randy in April 2021. Another rough year for Rock and Roll. RIP.
Long live Poco!!! Great guys!!!
Was fortunate to be there...terrific music! Thanks for the music Rusty and POCO! ❤️
No Jim Messina? There literally would be no Poco without him. He put it together to give Richie Furay a band after Buffalo Springfield broke up. He played on, and produced the first two albums.
You’re absolutely right in making that point. After hearing this interview ruclips.net/video/dOXSMFI_E3o/видео.html it seems that Messina was doing it all without support, strange story of how he couldn’t touch the record button. Furay was a perfectionist, Messina had already wrote and produced his first two albums, was ready for new direction after a falling out in the studio. Seems they still can’t get it together. Such a shame.
Love Rusty’s voice and his playing
My 1st concert ever, my older brothers and their girlfriends took me to see them Sept of 1972 been a fan ever since.
First saw Poco in the 70's. Was lucky enough to be at the induction in January. What a wonderful night that was!!
The best Poco line up up here, love them!
I had the pleasure of meeting Paul Cotton and talking with him on two separate occasions around 2001 or so. We spoke about harmonies, a favorite subject of mine. We got to talking about the highest of the high harmonies by George Grantham and Paul said they called him The Razor because of his sharp high harmonies. Rest In Peace, Razor.
George died? I thought he was still with us!
George is still with us and appears to be much better in recovery from the stroke. Unfortunately we now know Rusty passed away a few days ago.
Sure wish I could have been there...Have listened to them from the beginning when my older bro & sis got their first album and when they'd leave the room...I'd blast it and dance around...I was 9. :)
+Marie Tyler Wiley Did you sing using a hair brush as a microphone? I sure did. lol
+William Gibbs Or a flashlight could actually double as a spotlight. ha
was there... Poco remarkable...NGDB.. remarkable.
They are the reason I love Country Music
So much fun! Love doing your music always held to the highest standard for my hearts fulfillment! Look out world !
Congratulations Poco !!! 🇺🇸 😍🎵😍🎵😍🎵😍🇺🇸
I Love this Band Found you in A Album Collection at the age of 11 years old, Hooked for Life !!! I Love everything about all of you 🎶🎶🎶🎶
Saw Poco Live at The Warehouse in New Orleans back in the day. They were followed by the band Spirit. Poco livened up the place and had to do a few encores. Happily so. Spirit was awesome too. 69 and playing open mics up New England way in these times. Hopefully this pandemic will pass where we can mingle again. watching a lot of youtube these days and nights. Music is a saving grace. And I'm not even any religious domination believing son of a gunner.
Ive lost count of the number of Poco shows I have attended. Missed this one, sadly.
Well done! This captures the camaraderie and great interaction of the entire group! I truly appreciate this video as I was unable to make it to Denver in time to see this.
One of the best.🎸☮️🙏 My fav. Concert.😁
So great to see this ‼️☺️
Saw them in '71. What a show.
Jimmy Messina did not live in Colorado when he was in Poco. Paul, Richie, Rusty, George and Timothy all lived in the Boulder/Nederland area from (1971) 'From the Inside' onward.
Alot of talent on that stage
Saw Richie a few years back in Bethelwoods ,NY. (Woodstock). He did a radio Q & A show early that day in a side room. 200 fans max. He also played. What a great guy. Said his full time job is being a Paster in Colo. You can see his LIGHT in this video. Amazing he was there at the start and is such a level ,down to earth nice guy.He went on to play the big stage later that night with POCO & Loggins & Messina. What a show.
Rest In Peace Paul Cotton and Rusty Young…
I am a Poconut.❤️❤️
Saw them In the 70s In Köln (Cologne) and Offenbach Stadthalle (with America)....thanxxx for these Moments....
thanks for adding !
Rusty finest ever on Pedal Steel guitar, Timothy unbelievable vocals and Paul Cotton wrote sang and played some of the best rock Gretsch guitar ever. Half dozen of their songs (Crazy Love, Heart of the Night, Bad Weather, Pick up the Pieces, Spellbound, The Dance - got to find this one folks) are better than anything Nirvana, Run DMC, Green Day and half the bands in the so-called RR HOF ever dreamed of.
I've been a big Poco fan since about 13 years old (13 years old .)My sister turned me unto the Cantamos album, and I loved them dearly, and bought alot of Poco albums! It did really hurt to lose Ritchie Furay, and Timothy B.Shmit, but the other guys did ok with a little more rock, and the origina-like l Poco songs. SomPoco is one of my favorite bands! I'm glad my favorite all-time musician Dan Fogelberg was also inducted into theRed Rocks Hall of Fame, etc??!! God bless everyone,BobbyK!
Richie Furay- super talented!
Does Timothy B. Schmidt age? Love him!! ❣️🙋
Rest in peace, Rusty Young the Great!
Poco is and always will be my favorite 💓 band.
The sound track of my youth.
La classe monsieur PAUL COTTON
This... Is Glorious
