While they had some pretty big hits like "Crazy Love" and "Heart of the Night", and are considered one of the founders of the Southern California country rock sound that the Eagles played off of, they have not even been nominated (let alone elected) to the R&R HOF. That, to me, is being underrated.@@kevinjoseph517
I saw Poco play in a bar called the "Pines Club" in Anchorage Alaska in 1985. I was 27 and had never heard of them and was having steak and eggs at a table a few feet away from the little stage when they started playing - man so good! I listened to them until about 3 in the morning when they called it a nigght. When they first walked up on the stage I thought "man some old guys still playing" but now I realize they were in thier 40s and quite young as far as things go. A great memory to have!!
Oh man I remember this awesome tune from mid 70’s. It was just one of those songs when ya first hear it, it just latches onto you and NEVER leaves you. Thanks Poco for some of the greatest tunes EVER recorded.
I Never knew that Timothy B Schmit was from Sacramento until I moved here and met him at a record signing party at Tower records. Besides Poco and the Eagles . Timmy as some of the local older musicians like to refer to him also played in the Coral Reefer Band alongside The Late Great "Jimmy Buffett".
Timothy B Schmidt and Randy Meisner are/were the backbone of both groups Poco and Eagles. Both should have had more recognition they deserved. Both beautiful voices. Love and peace to both of them. ❤
This came out when I was a senior in high school in Tennessee. Man, did we ever listen to Poco a LOT, and I particularly loved this song. Hadn't heard it in years and I still love it. So much great music from that time didn't make it into the "canon" of classic rock, but if you flipped through a box of our albums and looked for the worn ones, this is one of them.
I had the opportunity to meet the later lineup: Rusty, Paul, Jack, George Lawrence. They were all so nice, and their voices up close (very small venue) were amazing. I was devastated when my husband told me about Rusty. He was so talented, underrated. We also at different shows met Richie and Jim Messina.
The band surely thought, when they recorded this incredible song, that it was destined for greatness. Number one on the charts. A Grammy. How disappointing that instead it became a cult favorite for people who love real music.
I found TIMOTHY sexy, very talented guy, his voice is really angelic, i just knew this man this late in his career. My heart jumped out while listening watching him perform . Love this guy really.
What a beautiful song. "Rose of Cimarron" was the 1st song of Poco's that I ever really listened to. Before that I had dismissed them as The Eagles "farm team"...I was wrong. Way wrong.
During the time this was happening a lot of top notch musicians were living here in Colorado; Steven Stills, Joe Walsh, Dan Fogelberg, Carl WilsonOften in or in the mountains above Boulder. Often near Nederland where the Caribou recording studio was then. It had an effect on them. Colorado will do that.
I generally like the earlier iterations of Poco the best, esp. the classic "A Good Feelin' to Know" album. However, there is just something about this song that is wonderful and I love how it just flows along. Thank you for posting this.
Just discovered this song and I love the harmony! It's a great song. I'm sorry I never heard it before because it is a beautiful song!! I love Timothy's high voice at the end!!! I heard the song on Pandora the other day and fell in love with it. I saw Poco in 1979 and fell in love with this band. MOST UNDERRATED BAND!! RIP RUSTY AND PAUL!!!!! ❤❤❤
I like 'try and love again', when Timothy B. Schmidt sings solo!!!!! He is the only Poco then Eagle's that can have that incredible range of pipes...full of humility!
Los vi de casualidad mirando videos en youtube, No sabia que existía esta banda y me parecen muy buenos músicos, les deseo toda la suerte...24 - 4 - 2019 Bs. As.
Paul Cotton is the man. It's about time these lads got their differences to one side and tour the UK for one last time. I once talked to a lad who seen them in the 70s and said they were tight. Love em back.
Poco - the innovators of Country Rock music along with Gram Parsons and the Byrds. Poco fed the Eagles their music, 2 bass players and a guitarist/violinist. Ironic but I discovered Poco in 1973 with Crazy Eyes LP, because of the Eagles' "Peaceful Easy Feeling" in 1972.
Randy was the original bass player in Poco. When he left to join Eagles, Timothy replaced him in Poco. When Randy quit Eagles, Timothy B. replaced him. Then, a few years later, Randy rejoined Poco, for a while at least.
Maggie, I was looking at my vinyl copy this morning. So long having it,1976 and back then even as import from West Germany it cost AUD 7.99 in the Land Downunder!!!

"From the Inside" is my personal best album by this band...with songs like "Bad Weather" "What if I should say I love you" and "What am I gonna do"...check em out...true gems.
I've watched this 40 times, I thought it was was a perfect live moment on Holland TV, then I noticed they weren't plugged in. It wasn't the record release version but I do believe the vocals were live. Whatever. still great.
Sadly the vocals weren't live- if you watch Paul and Tim they aren't pushing any air. Which is too bad because these guys could sing. There is a great live version of this here on YT, by this lineup of Poco. Great guys. Great, great song. Truly wonderful band. Sorely missed.
@@thatguitarguy5856 Thank you so much for the info. I am still perplexed though. They may not be pushing air but their lip sync is perfect. And there is another YT video of them practicing with instruments prior to recording this for a TV show. very weird. Only Tim is still with us I believe. Great times.
Poco - a criminally underrated group. The Eagles before the Eagles. Should have had more success than they had.
Agree
They didnt have hits like eagles did..not saying whats better.

The Eagles lost their way after Bernie Leadon left.
