One of my best childhood memories - watching my Mammie and Daddy dancing with each other and singing to this song, in our kitchen. It was lovely to watch and hear. Brilliant and definitely under rated band. Thanks x
They were never underrated! People, stop using those terms toward founding American bands. The eagles were blessed with the talents of Meisner and Schmitt from the very same crew. America and Poco did tours together in the 70s and no one from that period would have ever labeled Poco underrated!
@@chuckharrel8272 The guy was only using that metaphor to say how good they are!! How do you know all people stop using "those terms" about American bands? Although I feel differently ur generalizing!
POCO ..Saw them 1975? College gymnasium sitting on a hardwood floor in Elkins West Virginia.. $3 a ticket.. It was a memorable night ..so long ago, but many a vivid image remain.. the sights, the sounds, the stage, my friends, pot smoke in the air ..cops looking the other way. Yeah man, Groovy
Me too. And to see them in concert was great. The Ohio State University campus featured so many great bands. Some just beginning. Saw Boston a month before they hit it big at the Aurora Basr. O😊
I never though Timmy would play that bass with Poco again! That was a great version. I do miss George Grantham's high harmonies but Jesse Furay Lynch did a great job picking up the slack!
Followed Poco since the late 60's Love that band of so versatile and talented musicians. Thank You from a 73 yr. young Scotsman from España. A' the best Poco.
My wife and I had the pleasure of being there for this show in Denver. Inducted into the Colorado Music Hall of Fame along with Poco was Nitty Gritty Dirt Band and Firefall. Enjoyed em all, but seeing Poco live was outstanding.
@user-ck5sd4mh8r Darn, had I known I might have made a road trip. I had seen Rusty Young's Poco live, and I saw Richie Furay and his band live, but I never saw Furay with Poco and all these guys together.
When my peers at school in the UK were listening to punk i just loved my West Coast music still do and always will. This is amongst my all time favourites ♥️
Saw them 2004 in Belgium.. It was a nice concert. Glad to see Rusty Young and Paul Cotton. Rusty was such a great steel guitar player. We had a great evening in 2004.❤
I love how Timothy Schmidt just kinda stands there, then, all of a sudden he swings around and picks up his bass! It’s like oh! I supposed to be playing
My favorite celebrity encounter came on April 4, 1983 at Portland, Oregon's Euphoria Tavern men's room, when Poco guitarist Rusty Young was standing next to me at the urinals and I got to thank him for his pedal steel guitar playing on their 1975 cover of Steely Dan's 1972 single release "Dallas." He laughed when I told him I bought the album "Head Over Heels" just so I could play that song anytime I wanted.
Enjoyed a few years of seeing Paul live at The Schooner Wharf in KW several times. Once I bumped into him at Hog's Breath and chatted for awhile. I told him my brother was a great fan of Poco too. Paul said call him, so I did and he chatted with my brother for a few minutes up in Michigan. I very nice man and a great musician. RIP Mr. Cotton.
I was 19 and saw Poco at the Mountain Aire festival,1976, calaveras county fairgrounds...Pure Prairie League opened for Poco. EPIC!!! Rose of Cimarron had just been released. So beautiful. A couple months after that I moved to Colorado and saw them years later at Red Rocks.
When we were in our teens to 30s, saw them with Jim Messina, then Paul; always Tim, Richie, Rusty, George. Man, I mean NOBODY was better live. Great, fun shows. One was in Central Park when they played with Kinderhook (Creek), my fave country rock band here in NJ, back in the day. Saw those guys dozens of times. Excellent band!
Heart just fell to the floor after reading of Mr Young and Cotton s passing. Signed autographs after an outdoor concert in Buffalo NY years ago . Still have and cherish it. RIP
GREAT version.. THANKS for posting. I think all originals are here except George. Always love hearing Paul's solos.. Rusty gets some serious sound out of that little slide guitar. Thankful to have grown up with musicians like these.
As a guitarist, getting on towards sixty, however that hapened, and familiar with this band, I think I am not alone, looking at my guitar rack, and noting how so many of my instuments are aging, so, so, much better than me. Great song, great band. Cheers.
Great version of a wonderful song. Excellent musicians, including modern Poco guys, Richie's daughter and the master mando man, Chris Thile, I do believe!
Oh my god, these guys have still got it. Was a big fan in the early years. Absolutely brilliant, better than some of the music these days. From Chris across the pond.X
Saw them at the Manchester Palace in the UK when they were promoting the Rose Of Cimarron album. They were just great. One of those gigs / bands that stay with you for life. I’m 70 now, still play ‘em.
I lost my mother 4 years , she used to play this quite alot when I was growing up. I forgot all about this track until about 4/5 days after she passed away it came on the radio. Can safely say this track ain't far from me these days, it was ment to be.
Thank you! This was one of my daughter's and mine favorites songs to sing together riding down the road....not 45 years ago but, 15 just years ago! Love that Timothy Schmidt was in on this!

Growing up I never and still don't like the style of music, Eagles, etc... I did love Poco and especially Rose of Cimarron... and I still do.. Only band that plays this kind of music that I would take the time to listen to. Truly great musicians singing great harmonies to boot.
I agree with many of you, that they were definitely underrated. The harmony and musicianship was tremendous. I was a fan from the beginning. whenever I saw them in concert, it was always an upbeat, feeling and good times that we lose a few the music remains forever 5:09
Sadly Randy Meisner passed away July 26, 2023 at age of 77. Also a member of Poco & The Eagles
RIP Randy ❤❤❤
Until seeing this I didn't know that Randy was also in Poco. I only knew of his being in the Eagles! The only musical claim us here in Nebraska have😉🤣

"let's take it home Paulie," that brought a tear to my eye.......
One of the greatest, though understated, guitar solo of rock ‘n’ roll.
Me too .... great music by great artists bring back a deluge of memories.
I'll second that; POCO was popular on east coast. They paved the way for many country rock bands.
