...I thank the God High Above for the fine music for all of us to enjoy--through so many wonderful and talented musicians...KROY 1240 AM, Sacramento, CA...we really missed 'ya!!!...
how in the hell could there be 101 thumbs down on this song,,Paul Cotton wrote this and by all means sounds great,,,you people are are crazy to give this a thumbs down,,,its a beautiful song and done very well by Poco,,love it!!
Back in 68 I was sitting in the bar at the Troubadour when Linda Ronstadt poked her head through the curtains and said, very loudly, "Hey, you guys in the bar need to come in and hear this new band, Poco. They're awesome!" I didn't listen. I may not have had the cash to buy a ticket. I don't remember. Anyway, I didn't go in. I did see them once, live at another club on Melrose, on a double bill with John Fahey. They were great live, just like you see them in these videos. Ah, the old days.
I still love this song!!!! in 2020. Oh my gosh, if we could only go back to the 70's. Life was so good. I miss those times everyday . I LOVE POCO!!!! And they still are AMAZING!
I had the pleasure of meeting these guys after a concert back in the day. All really nice guys. I talked with Paul Cotton for a few hours. What a gentleman. This is a class band. Very underrated, in my opinion.
This is a timeless Masterpiece!! Great Memories of that time in music! These guys deserve to be recognized for all the Great music they put out!! Thanks Poco!! You all are the Best!!
I always loved the way Paul Cotton and Rusty Young's voices blend and complement each other. Bought Legend back in '79, remains a favorite to this day!
This is the music I grew up with. I am blessed to have had music like this to remind me of my life and where I was and when. Thank you for posting this beautiful piece from one of the best bands around, ever!!!!
Fabulous. As i think of yesteryear... Missed badly. Fabulous music! The vocalist imparts tremendous emotion and the slide steel and sax 🎷 flow together like perfection. Tears flow freely.
Does my body and soul good to hear this song sung and played so very well. What can you say? Timeless? That's for sure and here we are still talking and praising this slice of magic. It's like being on a raft and floating down a peaceful river with a full moon overhead. Perfect, thank you...
I just saw these guys for the third time this last Sunday night (7/12/09) and man, they still kick ass! Richie Furay was the special guest (he lives here in Colorado) and sat in for about 5 songs. You can tell he still LOVES the music!!! Paul is starting to show his age, but then again, so are we, the loyal fans. Rusty Young is still the heart & soul of this spectacular band, in my opinion and I can't wait til I get to see them again. If you can, go see them. You'll be happy you did! Thx POCO!
So awesome to see that aging in life doesn't get in the way of these excellent musicians that sing with their heart and soul. This is one of my favorite all time songs!
awwwwwwwww yes.. siting on the beach, feeling the cool air .. watching the waves roll in.. those were the good days when music was music and you could understand the words.. no suicide thought we just wanted to chill and love dance and be happy... time of love and not war....flower child days..
I'm outta my mind listening to this on utube or in my head everyday! A great American Classic...thanks guys. You probably didnt realize the impact of your music on us and would continue into the future...
Awesome song! I remember driving over the Lake Pontchartrain causeway about midnight with a full moon shining over the waters on a clear night and that song came on the radio. I almost stopped the car to pay homage to God above. Beautiful memory.
I saw POCO in 1982 in New Haven, Ct. on a cold, snowy night at Toad's Place. To me that was a magical night. Paul Cotton & crew really lite up the stage, playing all the POCO songs I've continued to listen to after all these years! Rock on, guys! daver06441
Just saw Poco, Pure Prairie League, and Firefall last night. It is unbelievable to sit there and watch these guys sound just as good as they did way back when. Maybe better! Bass player sounds like Don Henley. Then you can meet them all after the show!
Poco is Proof enough that if you have Good Songs and Real Talent ? That Talent does not fade and the Music lasts a Lifetime. Thank You Poco for all of the Great Music these Many Years.
This is an amazing live performance that really captures the sound and energy of the original album cut. It's really impressive to hear the band being able to match the original cut after about 25 years.!
Poco' music has a mysterious way of taking me back to the 70's, especially the song "Just for me and you" The streets were full of fun, lovin' Sex, Drugs and Rock~N~Roll. I loved listening to their music in the good ole' 8-tracks. Yeah, I survived the 70s and loved every minute of it !!! 70s survivor!!!
This is without a doubt one of my favorite country rock songs, and perhaps one of the best ever written, period. Its timeless melody brings back so many great memories from my past. Ah, but times were so much simpler back when this was written.
I watch this video and enjoy this performance almost every week and it's amazing how well each member of the band played. The vocals, guitar, drum and that horn! I can't imagine a more perfect collaboration, a thing oa beauty and joy to the ear and heart. Thanks again.
Unlike most exs...mine is my best friend and still love her with all my heart....this song brings me back to when we first met...such beautiful memories...thanks for posting and thank you poco for letting me take a stroll down memory lane!
And the river she rises, just like she used to do, she's so full of surprises, Oh Momma she reminds me of you!!!! Nothing makes me homesick like New Orleans & Lake Ponchetrian like this song does!!
December Leigh they were booked of the stage for Boston. What a shame in Miami FL half the crowd in my high school loved their music l still do. no one I know knows that Hartman drew the cover of that album
Don't give up on Teens, they are in transition just like us. I played all sorts of music for my daughters when they were growing up 50's to 90's, Broadway tunes, Country, Disney, etc. There comes a time when they try their own thing, but you would be surprised how many appreciate 70's and 80's music when they reach college. Maybe there are a lot of blank stares in those high school classrooms but they wake up to the real world when time comes.
I use to repeatedly play this song for four and five hours at a time when I had the CDs back in 1996 when I lived in the casino town of Jackpot,Nevada .
22 years after appearing on Solid Gold (introduced by Andy Gibb RIP) they sound wonderful. No age limit on rock stars 🌟 - as long as they can get it on - Aloha 🇺🇸🌴
about five minutes into this incredible song we are given another gift as the instrumental takes over. No matter how down my mood may be this song lifts my spirits. This may be the closest I'll ever get to the Big Easy and if that's true Poco got me a front row seat. Thanks!
Great song. Brought back memories from the summers of my youth; cruisin' down Lake Shore Drive on warm summer night, "snuggling" on a blanket, watching the sun rise over Lake Michigan....
I've always been surprised this beautiful song didn't get more airplay when it came out in the last 1970s. Poco's masterpiece, IMHO, and they had lots of other very good stuff, like Barbados, Rose of Cimarron, Call It Love, Crazy Love... Nice arrangement with a clarinet instead of a sax. Like the throatier sound of the sax a bit more, but this works too.
I post and receive similar comments on many songs from that wonderful time. Doobie Brothers singing "South City Midnight Lady", Al Stewart and "Year of the Cat", amazing songs that can't be touched by today's music. Yes, we were younger and life was more simple and carefree, but that music was great and still stands the test of time!
Who are the 92 people that gave this a thumbs down? Obviously people that know nothing about quality music and a great band. I blame the Justin Bieber fans. 😂
Poco, one Of My Favorite Bands,Seen Them Many Times And Had The Honor To Meet Paul Cotton,Richie Furray, and Rusty Young,Grantham,And Timothy b....,Years Ago At The Palomino On Lankershim blvd In North Hollywood!!!,Great Guys!!!!
As a ten-year-old Vietnamese refugee kid living in Sacramento, CA with my family back in the late '70s, I used to listen to tune on an AM station(no longer on air).
Still one of my all time favorites! I like the song on CD, but this live version blows it away. Fantastic vocal and every instrument is played to perfection. Great performance.
Greetings from Southern Ontario Canada. Always loved this tune and "call it love" Love to see New Orleans and get a little Mardi Gra into me one day...
Thank you for posting this great performance. What a peaceful timeout from the day to listen to such a great voice and instrumentals. I feel entertained and relaxed, thanks Poco.

Eleven years is way too long to not comment on this magnificent song ! I am so happy to still be here , still enjoying the heart of the night ❤️

Paul Cotton was a legend!!! He never gitvenough credit as a songwriter. Rusty is gone...Paul is gone but Poco will always have my heart!! ❤

Its a shame both Rusty and Paul died 5 months apart
Thats when we lose them when the new no taste punks dont appreciate them anymore.
I can't get enough of this video! Why aren't they in the Hall of Fame??? They are so awesome - so much talent in this band. Thanks for posting this!
Why don't they write songs like this anymore? Songs with meaning, songs that still touch you thirty years later.
45 years later..
great band they need to go into the Hall of Fame
Agree. Soooo good...
One of my favorite songs. When music was music!!
Right On brother...................
I agree I was definitely born in the wrong decade. I hate the auto tune crap of today. Give me a live band any day

This song and so many others of theirs got me through being a teenager with a psychotic parent. Thank goodness for Poco, the Eagles, and Chicago.

Great version of my favorite song. The love of a place is beautifully entwined with his love for a woman. Gorgeous music!
