I graduated in 1978. People that weren't old to comprehend the late 50s and the 60's and the 70's music have no idea what they missed, not only the music but the totally cool times and morals and lifestyle we had back then. It will never be that great again looks like, Huh?
Not to mention the visual arts. Album cover art became a genre in and of itself. We were so fortunate. I don't think I'd want to be 16-17 in this world.
Yep never again we were lucky enough to be in those times . My first girlfriend's dad had this album on 8-track, and I played it on their giant console stereo every time I was at her house. She and I were married almost 40 years before I lost her to a brain injury a few years ago. One of my best memories was taking her to see the Moody Blues in concert, probably around the time this recording was done.

There are good songs, great songs, and then there are the rare, timeless masterpieces that transcend fads, genres, and eras. This is one of those gems.
America was such a great place to grow up in. This country’s greatest days were during the 50s, right after WWII and the beginning of the industrial revolution. There were so many pluses being a teenager during that time period. Great movies, great music, a sense of family and joy.
I'm with you Sally. Some of the best music our generation has ever made. The sadness is that the current generation will never hear most of what is important in music, because they are glued to a screen that dictates their lives. Be well Sally.
I agreee. I grew up in the 80s - 90s. Although I think there was a lot of cool experimentation and creative innovation during those years, the 60s and 70s were and still are the best years for rock and roll! They didn’t just invent styles or genres, they created brand new forms and even instruments! For example, before Jimi Hendrix, guitar distortion didn’t even exist!
I'm 67 and the Moody Blue's album Days of Future's Past was the 1st album I bought myself and my Mom loved this album also. My 28 year old son loves Moody Blues. My husband would listen to the Moody Blues every night to help him sleep, he was a Vietnam Vet and suffered from PTSD.
This is real Music What a beautiful ensemble of talented musicians and singers and the clarity of the music is unbelievable and the Moody Blues is just awesome I love it and I'm 76 years old and still enjoying the music of the past Lots of memories
So true it’s the most beautiful song memories of back in the days when I was 18 and loving life and met my husband sad he passed away 10 years ago still can’t get him out of my heart 😢😢💔
Dora, Keep him in your heart and embrace all of the beautiful things you shared, and also the not so beautiful. Life is bittersweet. I lost my 43 year lover/best friend in 2013. I never got over it, though the sadness has softened to cherished memories. We have to be brave to grow old with dignity 😀
2022 on a Saturday night & this old music is still sounding good as it did back in the day. Anyone else agree? Makes me want to go back to them days again.
Still gives me goose bumps, went with my dad to see them in in 80's when I was a kid. Think it was at the toledo zoo amphitheater, they are right up there with yes and rush in my book, true real musicians.

Why is it music from this period really means something you can feel it I’m now 71 and boy am I lucky to have lived through this period real music real emotion these guys have real talent unlike the crap of today with one or two exceptions
May 1990. 4am . My wife had terminal cancer. I was talking to her. This song was playing. Before it ended she passed away. Not a person has ever asked me how she died.
A true masterpiece from an Era,that is gone, but cant be forgotten, nor duplicated,The Moody Blues, signature song, this song transcends time, thank you for your vision, lyrics and the arrangements, cant get better than this❤
I've been listening to the Moody Blues for over 50 years. Hard to believe. They're like a comfortable escape into a serine beauty, as they were in my teen youth. Thank you, Moody Blues, it's been grand.
Same here Irving, Every Good boy deserves favour was my first album, saw them perform Long distance voyager in Birmingham UK before we emigrated to Australia, will never forget that night. Ashamed that they were more famous & appreciated in the USA than they ever were at home. This is all class as all Moodies stuff is, unfortunately “modern” pop is a very distant poor alternative,I feel a bit sorry for the youth of today compared to the brilliant options we had in the late 60’s through 70’s, Led Zeppelin,Procal Harem,Black sabbath, Joe Cocker et al I don’t think that quality is ever coming back.
Without doubt one of the most beautiful songs ever written!!, and Justin sings with real feeling, a wonderful performance from him and everyone involved ❤.............
like Elaine below... i am going into the last third of my life so i like to say I am 35 and will be 34 next year and then 33 and so on until i reach Zero and then i am off to my next great adventure!!! you all can do the math, but this is the most exquisite music ever... 60's and 70's had some of the best music ever.... :))
I'm 32 and love this music. I'm usually more into heavy metal, but man... definitely have a soft spot for The Moody Blues, Jethro Tull, Uriah Heep, Deep Purple ... great music of a great era!
its wierd , they all came together , melodies, the words the voices breathtaking , the World is sadly lacking, inspiration, romantic songs , and Dance halls, to be able to hold your man close to you, and dance , what do the youngsters have today, plastic brain washing CRAP , netflix, unsociable media, computers, their ears with plugs in listening to hyped crap . no wonder there is record number of depressions pill popping and the jabbedoo, ... sadly lacking , proper bands and MUSIC.....
Dans le genre, vous avez absolument raison... ... Mais, vous ne pouvez pas comparer avec les Doors ou les Beatles, par exemple... ... Et je dis cela en toute amitié. Bien amicalement.
Gorgeous workmanship, clarity, lyrics, melody. Absolutely beautiful song to listen to. I'm 76 years old and I had great music to listen to back then. Bring back the beautiful music and the good old days

Oh My Gawd....I don't now why but whenever I hear this song I weep. Like so many have already said....it's the most moving and beautiful composition I have ever heard ! So lucky to have grown up with such awesome music.
@@williamwright2314 Every time l hear the song, it just takes over my mind. l doubt they thought it would make such an impact on people when it was released. Was that Peter Cushion, who gave the rendition at the end?
As a teenager, I thought this was a beautiful song to slow dance to. Now after losing my husband of 40 years, I actually hear the lyrics. A classic and forever beautiful song well crafted and played.
I listened to this song since it was recorded . I always heard the beautiful haunting melody and the perfect harmonies . But just recently the same thing happened to me . I downloaded it onto a tabs app so I could learn the chords and words . When I actually read the words . They floored me . Not just musically so good ,but a lyrical masterpiece also .
One of the greatest love songs ever written. The 60's music is timeless as it spans across the ages......I'm very lucky to have lived through the Greatest Decade in music !
I was born in the 60's so I didn't know much about music, but I am lucky. My older brother has every record ever recorded by the Moody Blues, the Beatles, the Grass Roots, Creedance Clearwater Rivival, the Monkeys and countless others from the 50's, 60's and 70's and they're all in mint condition. Several years ago someone offered him over $100,000 for them, HE KEPT THEM. To him they're priceless, I have to admit that I wouldn't mind having a few, but I'd want the system to play them on to, it's a beautiful antique system.
When i lost my daddy at 13. I was the oldest. My mom collapsed. I did what i could for my 5 sisters and brothers. And mom. But at night i poured my heart out with this music..
Check out The Wind of Heaven by Justin Haywood who wrote this and many of the Moody Blues songs. I just found it recently on RUclips and I was thrilled to see he's still creating amazing music. That sing led me to many others he's written in recent years. Check them out and enjoy. ❤💖✌️💖🩵🎉🌹
I was born in 1957. Maybe this kind of music is special because I was young. Youth was fun. And youth was about change, but when I hear music like this in my mind, I am young again and rebellious and energetic and about the moment. 3:02
I think it was 1972 they were playing in Minnesota and a group of us went. Wonderful concert. All of my compatriots now are gone but I still get to enjoy a timeless music that never should die. I feel very fortunate for having grown up in a time where we could actually enjoy life without concern as to whether we were enjoying it correctly.
Caught concert for the tour the Moody Blues collaborated with municipal symphonies 30 years ago. What a magical evening I imagined heaven must sound so amazing. It remains one of the best concerts ever!
This song sounds as good now as it did back when it first come out. One of my top 10 classic sounds of all times. Band member Justin Hayward wrote and composed this song when he was 19.
He's still writing and creating incredible songs. The Wind Of Heaven is hauntingly beautiful and the video sets the spirit running free. I'm so grateful I found his recent songs and after 50 years still love all the others.
3:14 Hey champion, 19 years old? I didn’t know the composer’s name nor his age. Yet, your comments take me straight to John Keats, who was one of the seminal young poets of the Romantic period, who had composed most of his major works, including ‘Ode on a Grecian Urn’ by 19 years of age. He died at 26, from tuberculosis or ‘consumption’ as it was then called. Justin; respect to him.
The circle of life is painful - especially for us that are left to go round.... death is hard but sometimes living can be harder when we are left to carry on ... I am very sorry for losing the piece of your life that made you whole... nothing can make it feel better but you can steal some happiness and smiles from your memories... with time and love from your family you will find joy in each day❤
A comment from an old man: The late 1960’s through the 1970’s were witness to some of the greatest music ever written and performed. But, there have been some really wonderful songs and performances since then, too. Music isn’t supposed to be about competition; it’s a living, breathing, hug to the mind and the heart. Love what you love and keep listening.
I was there at those times, from late '67-about '80, when the powers that be at that time, were brought up in the Music Business as Songwriters ( Ahmet Ertegun of Atlantic Records, Herb Alpert, an artist who also owned A & M Records, and Berry Gordy of Motown, who was also a songwriter, among many others ), so when they signed acts, they KNEW what they were doing. Today, it's corporations that control the business. And very little understanding of what might make a great band or artist or song. Yes, there are a few writers and players today that could've competed back in the day, but now they are few and far between, instead of the norm.
Outstanding, the man has not lost the quality of his voice as some singers do when they age nor has the band lost their instrumental talent & the orchestra addition was a great touch to this song
I was lucky enough to see them in concert in Montana many years ago with my husband who I made him go to). It was also with full orchestra. While I was fully expecting to love this, not so sure about my husband. I looked at him and his face showed everything. We have been married for 38 years now, but I will never forget that look of ah he gave me. Very special memorie for me from a band I have loved since since I was a teenager!
I was fortunate to see them in Montana many years ago. I remember making my husband go with me. They did the full Days Of Future Past with orchestra. I looked at him to see if he was enjoying them. The look on his face said it all. We have been married for 38 years now and I can't hear this now without going back in time and being a 20 something girl.
pushing 70 and working on playing this.. Since I retired.. been playing a lot of music and for some strange reason keep coming back to the 60s…. this album, canned heat.. Crosby , stills , nash.. Neil young.. dylan. Yes I play a few more modern ones.. but the best came out of those days..
I know they are a bit older in this live performance but holy shit this still sounds just as good as the original. There are some songs and artists that are just meant to exist beyond time. This is one of them.
Just held my father's hand as he passed. My parents used to play this as the windows were open and the spring breeze passed through. Memories are fragments of love that are the building block of life.
Magnificent. They were part of an era of exceptional musicians who produced music that had spirituality buried deep within it. I don't think even the musicians realized the import and the deep impact their music had on the youth of that generation of the 60's and 70's. I believe music like this resonated subconsciously with that generation and influenced many eventually to seek a spiritual path in life.
This beautiful song will last forever. Just perfect. A timeless classic. Everytime i listen to this masterpiece i get goosebumps. This song touches the soul. ❤🔥❤🔥❤🔥
As a mega fan l always bought every newly released album. Today l still have those vinyls and play them regularly with a smile on my face remembering better times.
(This is meant as a chuckle.) "Tape" ? What's that!?!?! Me too, I agree, I'm too reaching my Autumn years and this tune is timeless. (Even on a 8-Track! - Smile.)
Boy did we have it great in the 60s and 70s with such magical and creative musicians! The Moody Blues will stand the test of time and continue to attract new listeners thanks to outlets like Utube!
Some of the best music came out in 60’s to 70’s! Our girls asked if we could go and buy the cassette tape, I told them I had the original on a record, and 8-track. We had a stereo system, so I unboxed the records and tapes! They had found the best music in the world! There were also some of his favorite music left for me! When I was pregnant, I played a lot of music on head phones on my belly! They had to love it’. Our son came along and I played “old country” to him - not knowing the gender. He likes the old stuff, Hank Williams, Sr, George Jones, Merle, Willie, and such! Great music never dies⚜️⚜️⚜️⚜️⚜️
When you are listening to music from the 60's & 70's and this song begins you HAVE to pause, sit up, stop what you're doing and just LISTEN! It just transports you to a special place. I'm 63 years young and it has always done that for me anyhow. Congrats Moodies. This recognition has been far too long in coming!
This is one of my first concerts I went to back in the 70s n I took my middle school sweethearts to, had to.promis her I would not smoke weed ,while we on our date
Agree. The flute sends my heart over the edge. I have been lucky to have seen several of their concerts. There will never be another Moody Blues. I am grateful for how their music touches me……
Old is gold !! Still the 70 and 80s and early 90s songs are the best to listen . I believe hip-hop and pop has killed music .. not a generalized statement but in reality the best songs are being during those era. . does anyone agree with me ..
I think music & musicianship died when videos became so influential. It was around that time that dancing, auto tuned voices and repetitive, boring dance songs became more important than actual music 😢
The other big influence on the decline, is the dominance of US commercial interests and the formula used to select music for production. All the good music was created without this formula approach. Close your eyes and listen to the beat, you will hear the variation. Modern music all has the same beat.
WOW that transition at minute 2:52 when his magical voice stops so it can give momentum to the beginning of the sound of that majestic instrument it's awesome! One of the most fascinating pieces of music I ever heard! The voice, the lyrics, the musical instrumentation! Everything about this song it's just pure magic! The flute, the chimes...it's like momentarily being in heaven!😉
I’ve just gone through breast cancer surgery. Was in a little pain and I don’t take pain killers so I popped on my headphones, found this, and….. ahhhh…I don’t feel the pain. So lovely and calming. Have loved this band since the sixties. I’m 66 now and still young at heart! How does this music just keep getting better? What a great time to grow up in. È la più grande❤❤❤❤❤
In all of my life I've never found better music than the Sixties through the late seventies.
Fact
1971
Da stimme ich dir zu 100% zu .
Was hatten wir für grandiose Songs. Jedes Lied können wir nach über 50 - 60 Jahren noch mitsingen.

I think it was 1972 they were playing in Minnesota and a group of us went. Wonderful concert. All of my compatriots now are gone but I still get to enjoy a timeless music that never should die. I feel very fortunate for having grown up in a time where we could actually enjoy life without concern as to whether we were enjoying it correctly.

the tour the Moody Blues collaborated with municipal symphonies 30 years ago. What a magical evening I imagined heaven must sound so amazing. It remains one of the best concerts ever!
Love your take on enjoying life without worrying if enjoying it correctly. Woke police exist only to hound others into "correct think."
At the time, this was groundbreaking, and it shook our world. I am happy to say that it still does. The Moody Blues were/are in a class by themselves.
Yep. They were definitely in a class of their own. xxx

Said very well my friend very well
I was there at those times, from late '67-about '80, when the powers that be at that time, were brought up in the Music Business as Songwriters ( Ahmet Ertegun of Atlantic Records, Herb Alpert, an artist who also owned A & M Records, and Berry Gordy of Motown, who was also a songwriter, among many others ), so when they signed acts, they KNEW what they were doing. Today, it's corporations that control the business. And very little understanding of what might make a great band or artist or song. Yes, there are a few writers and players today that could've competed back in the day, but now they are few and far between, instead of the norm.
Anything after the very beginning of seventies was shit 60,s and very early 70,s were best
Echt schitterend, voor altijd koester ik deze muziek x
Outstanding, the man has not lost the quality of his voice as some singers do when they age nor has the band lost their instrumental talent & the orchestra addition was a great touch to this song
The orchestration was added because their melotron player quit!

This is from the 60's.
Agree
I think music & musicianship died when videos became so influential. It was around that time that dancing, auto tuned voices and repetitive, boring dance songs became more important than actual music 😢
The other big influence on the decline, is the dominance of US commercial interests and the formula used to select music for production. All the good music was created without this formula approach. Close your eyes and listen to the beat, you will hear the variation. Modern music all has the same beat.
I agree!
There will be no better music from the 60's,70',80's!
