Bill, oh yes. Thank you. There was such richness within so much of the music out of the 60's and 70's for me . . . and the Moody Blues always, always rose to the surface. They tapped into something "otherworldly", that no other did. I can grieve at times, for those other times of that lovely, young self. "Tuesday Afternoon" literally called to the deepest part of me, to a part of my nature that has never dimmed. But more now (at 67), I feel that I am not apart from that time, that it is not so much something gone, but rather an enrichment on the journey of where I find myself here, today. An earlier chapter of the same life story, yet unfolding. To have lived those decades young was a gift, and for that I am grateful. Be well.

My dad passed away yesterday, The Moodies were his favorite band before I was a child and all through growing up. He was passionate about this band and their music even though I was trending in contemporary hard rock n metal at the time. But the time I hit my late 20s I was physically and emotionally far from him and thought "Well, I know what can connect us, let me try again to find out what was to love and why". The connection was immediate and soon they topped my playlists over some rather obscure acts known as the The Rolling Stones and The Beatles. These blokes not only had musicianship and arrangements perfect for orchestral rock. the drenched melodies and lyrical depth for lasting aplomb. I will always love you forever, Dad!

One of the reasons of success for the Moody Blues is the writers' ability to make the listener believe in their shared empathy. We have all felt the things they sing about but they sing it as if it is directed to us, secretly and alone.

This is so beautiful. The song on its own is superb but with the added orchestra, it is so very magnificent. I miss The Moody Blues, especially Justin Hayward.
