  • From the On a Threshold of a Dream- Music of the Moody Blues.
    ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
    First Man: I think, I think I am, therefore I am, I think.
    Establishment: Of course you are my bright little star,
    I've miles
    And miles
    Of files
    Pretty files of your forefather's fruit
    and now to suit our
    great computer,
    You're magnetic ink.
    First Man: I'm more than that, I know I am, at least, I think I must be.
    Inner Man: There you go man, keep as cool as you can.
    Face piles
    And piles
    Of trials
    With smiles.
    It riles them to believe
    that you perceive
    the web they weave
    And keep on thinking free.
    ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
    A wonderful day for passing my way.
    Knock and my door and even the score
    With your eyes.
    Lovely to see you again my friend.
    Walk along with me to the next bend.
    Dark cloud of fear is blowing away.
    Now that you're hear, you're going to stay
    'cause it's
    Lovely to see you again my friend.
    Walk along with me to the next bend.
    Tells us what you've seen in
    faraway forgotten lands.
    Where empires have turned back to sand.
    Wonderful day for passing my way.
    Knock and my door and even the score
    With your eyes.
    Lovely to see you again my friend.
    Walk along with me to the next bend.

      Yes, I still believe we can change the world, but the opportunity is slipping away.
      LSD was a very useful tool. But the movement was hijacked with STP. That's what messed up Syd Barret. Military intelligence, social engineering. Same shit, different day...
      I'm 42 now and have responsibly tried many illegal drugs. I am a musician and rate The Moody Blues as a very sincere effort of expression and exploration. Progressive rock pioneers really. I wish I had been born in the '50s. They really did squash the vibe. They murdered Jimi Hendrix, amongst others. I'm convinced after 6 years of research, that Paul McCartney was bumped off. Social engineering.
      Look at this now.
      Dirty bastards.

Aside from their musicianship and songwriting impressing me beyond words, I believe their spiritual and philosophical insights on simple life and love have affected more people more deeply, then they may ever come to know. Wrote these words on my cell wall , Knox County Jail, 1974 on my way to the joint for selling LSD. Quit messin' with my head, only God can judge me.

    My Dad played this for me when I was very little and I remember every word. This was the precursor for my love of Tool and so much music that weaves in a philosophy of life and offers teaching and growth in addition to being so fun to listen to. I owe everyone involved a debt I could never repay.

    I was walking past a cafe in the city where I lived remembering the times I used to go there for lunch with a friend when we were apprentice typewriter mechanics, I hadn't seen him for many years and was wondering what had happened to him, I turned a corner into another street and there he was walking towards me, this song always reminds me of that day.

      Yes, a nice sorta appreciation but with no depth. One must have spiritual practices to reach the higher states of consciousness where the Moody's came from. Then it's timeless, universal, transcendental.

    It goes without saying that this is one of the best of many great songs by the MB. Being in college when this album first came out, I felt that the "evil computer" versus "cool guy" conversation was a little overdone. Back then there were amy number of science fiction stories about bad computers, everywhere from "2001" to some Monkees episodes. But now some RUclips algorithm does" know" what I like and "suggests" things that I would have probably gone to anyhow. Maybe. Truth always being scarier than fiction. Still, one of my favorite songs. Thanks for posting.
