One of my favorites. It's amazing all the names that are tied to Poco some way or another; Eagles, Buffalo Springfield, Byrds, Loggins Messina, Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young, Bruce Springsteen, Jackson Browne, Ricky Skaggs, Saturday Night Live. It's crazy.

Three years in New Orleans from 78-81. Beautiful city, but in the end I was being eaten up by the lifestyle. I left to regain my soul. Found it and clean and sober nearly 38 years.

I love RUclips because I get to hear all those old songs that I haven't heard in years and it takes me back to being about 15 again when the radio waves were filled with rich voices and a beautiful mix of genres and sounds.... I feel bad for today's generation too!

If most people remember Paul Cotton at all, it is for "Heart Of The Night" from 1978's Legend album. Paul was an excellent songwriter and guitarist. For my money he was, for a 15 year stretch, the world's finest singer. It's a shame that so few people appreciated him during his life. RIP Paul Cotton. You will be missed. Check out the following songs by Poco: Down On The River Again, Streets of Paradise, This Old Flame or Barbados; or I Can Hear Your Heart Beat by Paul Cotton (solo) and see if you don't agree that he was one of the finest male singers of his generation.
Paul was a few years ahead of me in high school, his sister Carol was a great friend His family owned a small grocery store on Sibley, in Harvey, where we went every day to buy penny candy My God, life seemed so much easier back then Never got to see him play with Poco, but got to see him when he was with Illinois Speed Press RIP Paul
Jeff, glad to see your post. Couldn't agree with you more. Paul was such a sweetheart in person, too. In the late 80s/early 90s I had occasion to meet him several times at a friend's house. The first time, she was giving a luncheon and since my mother had just been widowed at 74, I took her along. Paul treated her with such respect and kindness. The next time he saw Mom he gave her a personally-compiled tape cassette of ten of his songs, the names of which he wrote on those little lined cards which accompanied blank tapes in those days. She adored him and treasured that tape. I'm six years older now than Mom was at the time she met him. And I have that tape sitting on my desk as a small memorial to him...and to her, too! R.I.P.

Out of the blue, I rediscovered this song from my youth when I was working on a project that I’d been stuck on for seven years. I put this song on a continuous loop for 45 days and powered through it and launched the website. Thank you, Poco.
This song truly brings back memories as I was 12 and living in New Orleans when it was a great place to be. Not so much today. At least we have the memories.
The lead singer just passed away recently. Our generation is leaving us little by little. I remember this tune as a teen. Always liked it! Crazy Love is another tune I like from them!
Poco was such an outstanding group, with their country tinged arrangements and harmonies, it was such a cool sound. Paul Cotton and Rusty Young were a song writing force few could match and none could emulate.
Seriously, when I hear these songs from my younger days, it's almost like being there once again... nothing instantly transports you back in time like hearing a song from 'back when'... miss those days so much!!!
The bridge where he sings “And I trust in your love, never falling down” is absolutely gorgeous. I was going through a lot of teen heartaches when this song came out which made it resonate even more with me. What a time to be alive.
Paul and Rusty… my heart is broken but I know you are both at perfect peace No words to describe how much Poco means to me It takes me back to the best years of my life. It hurts terribly. Why are they not in the rock and roll hall of fame??? God bless
I've got a pretty good idea why they aren't in the Hall of Fame - they weren't controversial, they concentrated on the music and weren't a bunch of teen idols. They just did their thing and said "Here it is, listen to this." Only 4 Top 40 hit singles during their time, but a lot of unforgettable songs.
Timothy B. Schmit was inducted. He’s freaking amazing ! He was with the Eagles then, but still. He was great no matter which band he was in and more than deserved the accolade. He killed Rose of Cimarron. No one else could’ve pulled that song off. He’s pure magic ❣️♥️🎶
This was Paul Cotton's love song to New Orleans. When I listen to this song it brings me back to the late 70s and early 80s growing up outside of Tampa, Florida. An amazing song from an amazing time in music!

Missed out the best bit! "Please don't wake, please don't shake me, if it's only, if it's only just a dream". That's magnificent. Turns a sappy love song into a beautifully sad song.

I was hoping for an actual live performance, but I'll take what I can get. Poco was one of my favorite groups, and it's great seeing Paul and Rusty here. Charlie Harrison and Steve Chapman were originally just the session guys for "The Cotton-Young Band", but when the record company heard what they came up with, they wanted to go ahead and release the recordings as Poco. And that's a bit of the story behind Poco's biggest album.
