I don’t disagree on the birds, Buffalo Springfield, and flying burrito Brothers. By the flying burrito, Brothers and the birds played straight country on their albums. There was very little rock Poco. I agree with the original post that they were the founders of country rock.

      @@Rick-jg8vx wrong,
It’s been proven that the founders of country rock was Rick Nelson & The Stone Canyon Band, who Randy played bass guitar for, & sang back up for. Listen to their album, live from The Troubadour ‘69. You’ll see.

@@kellyreider3460 that's not totally true. That's what Henley & Frey said! If you look deeper there are articles stating that Take it to the Limit was part of the regular set at concerts (the site I was on showed the set for the concerts). The night it all ended Randy wasn't feeling well. Leadon left because of dealing with "the gods", Henley & Frey, which is why Randy left. Being a band mate with those 2 was like being in an abusive marriage/relationship. The original Eagles was the best and Randy had a voice of an angel!!

I'm a long-time Poco fan. This is special to have Meisner playing again with Rusty and George. I remember thinking how great this song was the first time I heard it on the radio. So glad for them to have another hit as they deserved so many that just bubbled under being so. I think I actually resented The Eagles at the time for taking Timothy, but who could blame him for the opportunity of a lifetime? I have just most of the early Poco on LP still though streaming makes it easier I still enjoy the physical album art and notes. One of the finest bands that ever blended country with rock, folk, and pop. It makes me feel joy to know there's still a lot of us, even new folks, listening in 2024.

@@TheSjuris Actually some form of POCO existed continuously for around 15 years and about 12 albums. This was their getting back together album. I saw the early version a couple times and a touring nostalgia version once in the late 2000s. They aren't in the hall of fame because of ignoramuses who control who gets in and choose to include people and groups who have nothing to do with rock of any kind.

Just another song and band to remind us lucky enough to have grown up in the 60s 70s 80s early 90's
We had all the best bands, songs, musicians and memories of a much better time. Not just lucky but blessed by all these great performer's. Something that will never happen again... sadly. Take it to the limit by the Eagles and sung by Randy was and still is my favorite Eagles song.
I cringe a little wondering how much grief he must have suffered playing for the Eagles He was a good guy, quiet, talented. A sad, tragic loss for Rock 'n Roll
    RIP 🙏

Uno dei gruppi con i quali sono cresciuto e tuttora attuale questa musica così coinvolgente, da portare nelle scuole e fare ascoltare il perfetto connubio degli strumenti, suonati da musicisti e non da improvvisati suonatori

Agreed that it is a great song. Unfortunately, I am pretty sure the reason it sounds just like the record is that they are lip-syncing to the studio recording. Case in point: Where is Richie Furay? If I’m not mistaken, it was he and not Rusty who played that classic hook.

In May of 1976 I interviewed Rusty Young at the Charlotte Coliseum. Poco was on stage setting up. He was playing with a yo-yo. I said, “ We’re sitting in the Charlotte Coliseum with Rusty Young and you’re playing with your yo-yo. He said, “That sounds dirty. You can’t say THAT on the radio.” It was a fantastic interview. Suddenly a speaker started buzzing loudly. Rusty said, “ Isn’t that gonna mess up your tape…all that buzzing?” But we carried on. He invited me to stay for their sound check. My photographer friend John Taylor took a photo of me in the front row like an audience of one. Later I ate at Holiday Inn at a table with several Flying Burrito Brothers. I interviewed one of Willie Nelson’s drummers The Devil Paul English. He took John and me to the back of the tour bus and I interviewed Willie Nelson. Fantastic show, interviews. Willie’s album then was The Sound in Your Mind. I played every song on it on WGNC. Willie was very appreciative.
