One thing about the "visuals" and beauty of the group that always gets disregarded/set aside is how all members are so beautiful and magical in their own ways, you have Susana who completely took over the fans and made so many people (and cameras) fall in love with her for her alluring eyes and mermaid strong voice, but she also stands out thanks to the strong presence of the other girls, who are all taller and longer than her, with strong facial structures that really remind me of witches from another era (and I say this as a heartfelt compliment to them), creating a beautiful balance with her petite frame and delicate voice plus features. Susana alone can take over fans, music, but altogether proved to be not only underrated af til today, but also power vocals and a legendary group.
The lead singer knows how to use the camera.....and the other girls are such great complimentary voices. We need more fun shows like "Countdown", "Top of the Pop" and "American Bandstand." The lead must be one of the best ever at adoring her fans, the moment and the people watching on television.
The voices of the group in choir, in such a harmonious way, with the instruments in a simple way, with very beautiful lyrics and a good rhythm and the voice of the vocalist, it is together that makes the music fantastic and a symbol of the romantic music of the years 80. Thank you. As vozes do grupo em coro, de forma tão harmônica, com os instrumentos de forma singela, com uma letra muito bonita e um bom ritmo e a voz da vocalista, é em conjunto de torna a música fantástica e um símbolo da música romântica dos anos 80. Lembranças do Brasil. Obrigado.
I love that she's sassy about it. This live version is better than the studio version, her facial expressions and body language say that she means it. What a song
I am from Bangladesh. I listened this song 1992. When i had read class ten. The Bangle team is always famous. 31 years later now The Bangles ...............is evergreen. 💚🌹🌹🌠🌈
Wonderful arrangement by this classic 1980s female group, The Bangles, epitomises that essence of creativity that emerged in the halcyon period of popular music in those three classic decades, 1960-90 and continues to be pursued by those connoisieurs of romance, love and desire that permiated that era. This US group of four Jewish girls from California left to right, sisters Vicky & Debbie Petersen, lead singer Susanna Hoff and Michaela, produced one of the most polished live performances of any contemporary group, standing before their microphones effusing a result equal to any studio production much to the rapturous applause of the audience at Countdown UK, initially in anticipation, and ultimately at the concluding phrase "Do You Understand", even though acceptance of the comprehension of understanding only intensifies the desire expressed in their vocals and harmony, but does not make the reality any easier in our asset driven culture of now. The Eternal Flame perpetuates the ultimate quest of hope as time passages prolong the driven passion expressed by that sought within The Eternal Flame. Susanna Hof in the verse after the guitar solo hits the highest of high notes, superb from such a petite persona. Ultimately the girls step back from their microphones as they conclude with the perennial question to those on the outer, "Do You Understand" (no not really in an emotional guise, but maybe as the reality of fiscal essence, but that does not make acceptance any easier} and the girls stand humbly to the rapturous applause, hands behind their backs. Time has passed and they are all now in their sixties, married with families confronting the challenges that are embodied by father time and mother nature, but we can all be grateful that in 1989, this performance was captured for eternity and allows us to be submerged within the aura of emotion expressed by this superb female quartet. Do you feel my heart beating?
Do you understand? Do you feel the same?
Am I only dreaming?
Is this burning an eternal flame?
I believe it's meant to be, darling
I watch you when you are sleeping
You belong with me
Do you feel the same? Am I only dreaming?
Or is this burning (burning) an eternal flame?
Say my name
Sun shines through the rain
A whole life so lonely
And then come and ease the pain
I don't want to lose this feeling, oh
Say my name
Sun shines through the rain
A whole life so lonely
And then come and ease the pain
I don't want to lose this feeling, oh
Close your eyes, give me your hand
Do you feel my heart beating?
Do you understand? Do you feel the same?
Am I only dreaming?
Or is this burning an eternal flame?
Close your eyes, give me your hand, darling
Do you feel my heart beating?
Do you understand? Do you feel the same?
Am I only dreaming?
Is this burning an eternal flame?
Close your eyes, give me your hand, darling
Do you feel my heart beating?
Do you understand? Do you feel the same?
Am I only dreaming?
Oh (an eternal flame)
Close your eyes, give me your hand, darling
Do you feel my heart beating?
Do you understand? Do you feel the same?
Am I only dreaming?
Is this burning an eternal flame?
Close your eyes, give me your hand...
I always love Susanna Hoffs' vocals. Such an iconic voice.
The Bangles are incredibly talented and beautiful as well. They are a plus to our lives.
she had the greatest alluring flirty side-eye of any singer.
Siguen preguntándose porque el reggaetón es una
mierda??
There were many great songs in the 80s, but this is my favorite.
What a iconic band .. I had such a crush on her in 90s as a teenager ❤
She's so small. Beautiful voice, beautiful song such a shame it wasn't done live. They can do live.
Always beautiful song, always beautiful singers and musicians of this group 😍👭🏼💛🎧
💚🌹🌹🌠🌈
I agree at all !!! regards from Argentina !!!💪🙌
What an amazing voice. Just blows me away. And makes me melt at the same time. True talent. The other girls backing her are highly excellent as well.
One of the best songs from one of the best groups then and now.

It was successful without being vulgar. She is wonderful and fascinating.
Back when it was about the music, not sexualised talentless electronically layered voices.

The 4 of them harmonizing is so underappreciated. Wow.
