Most Popular Song in Europe Each Month of the '60s

- Based on the charts of the UK, Germany, Belgium, France, Ireland, Italy, the Netherlands, Norway and Spain. I chose a different song for each month to make the countdown more interesting and diverse, despite the fact that in reality a few songs were the most popular ones for 2 or 3 consecutive months.

When singing really was singing - they were a gold standart that has been easily forgotten and now surplanted by noise - we need to thank these wonderful singers as we owe them so much joy and happiness in our 20's - 30's.........
Thanks so much for sharing this video, there's so many timeless songs that have now been around for five decades.
I’ve enjoyed this stroll down memory lane so much. I listen and remember where I was and who I was with.. thank you!
Uwielbiam piosenki z tamtych lat - wspaniała muzyka, harmonia głosów, miłość.... i niczego więcej nie trzeba..................😄👍
The 60's produced terrific songs 🎵 by some legendary artists, thanks as always SRG ❤🎉
Oooh how wonderful it is to listen to this beautiful oldis!! Sound's just great!! Thank's for sharing such good music to us! It would be nice to listen each song to end!!❤❤❤❤❤
I discovered this channel today and I'm loving it ❤ the most popular song when I was born was "Sugar, sugar" 😁 like it 🤩
Elvis & Cliff are one of my favorite artists of all time. Their voice is so natural & soothing.
Hi Some Random Guy - Thank you for such great compilation including and matching the hits with European Hit Parades. I served overseas and was exposed to some originals and European copies of American hits. Thank you for bringing me to a time of innocence and freedom (before the war that is). Peace be with you, Ciao, L
That was really a walk down memory lane! Thank you
Thanks for making this!
Excellent video, congratulations!.. From 1964 to 1969 The Beatles were the masters and owners, not only of Europe, but of the entire world, the impact they had is something that is unprecedented and has never been repeated.
The very lucky coincindence of some extremely talented, musical boys happening to meet and starting a band is something to marvel at.
This is great, it brings out so many memories. Thank you👍❤
Great assembly of golden oldies! I would suspect that when this assortment of fabulous hits is played at my funeral, - instant resuscitation! Oh my ❤️!
Excellent compilation! Oh, those were the days...
Thanks SRG.
An interesting list. I like how you have done month by month.
Cool! I may have been born 1972, I grew up listening to these music and I am hooked til this year: 2024. 😘
Brilliant 👏👏👏🍀💚🙏🏻
You're lucky. I was unfortunately born in 1997, and I have to put up with today's trash. If only I had been born back then, to enjoy actual music and a better society...oh well. At least the internet allows me to live this..
@@deloreandmc88Wow, i can’t believe you probably belong to generation z yet you like the song of yesteryear.
Wow, as a teenager in the 60s this video brings back so many memories.
Very interesting! There were clearly some singers who virtually owned the 1960s - Elvis in the early 60s together with Cliff and then from about 1963 onwards, The Beatles together with The Rolling Stones and The Monkees, Englebert H and Tom Jones towards the end of the 60s and the Beach Boys & Frank S are in there somewhere. I never appreciated before how much domination of the European charts there was from the Big 4 - Elvis, Cliff Richard, The Beatles & The Rolling Stones! Other observation - I see ESC entries a plenty from the late 60s in your chart!!! :-) I miss the ESC days before the introduction of the televote distorted the results. Thank you for this video :-).
Excellent compilation of great music -those were the days indeed ❤🎉😍
The great Cliff Richard from 59 to 2024 and still going strong God bless him
This is REALLY nicely done!
I'm 75 and grew up on this fantastic slice of musical history.
However ... Believe it or not ...
I have never heard of Cliff Richard.
Cliff Richard was hugely popular in the U.K. in the late 50s and early 60s - until The Beatles arrived on the scene.
Just so much Happiness to remember..Thank You 60,s😊
Love all these songs some were before my time, I remember collecting the cards of some of the stars Cliff and Beatles ''So wish I could have been a teen Back Then, Great video ♥
Excellent piece of research, very well made. Impressive!
Elvis was incredible
A 50s phenomenon and he still managed 10 songs from 1960-1963
The King forever
Plus big hits in the mid and late 60s - Crying in the Chapel, Love Letters, Suspicious Minds, and In the Ghetto
Too bad he never toured Europe. The crowds would have been crazy.
Great as always. The Beatles were definitely tops, but the Stones and Cliff Richard have had amazing longevity!
And Elvis!?
@@mikesedam616 The Beatles: 26
Elvis: 11
Stones: 10
Cliff: 9
Thanks a lot. Now I can recognize again how immense was The Beatles impact - after their breakthrough (5:28) popular music has moved over the rainbow.....
Keep up the good work!
well, we've had our fun saying that the 90's/80's/70's were great, but the 60's are an absolute miracle. Beatles, Elvis, Stones, Sinatra, Beach Boys,Ray Charles...

@@Belkaletjaga If you are Russian, the question is, when will Russia finally do something against the murderer and war criminal Putin and his buttlickers!
As for the Beatles: history has long since confirmed their unique status as music icons. And somehow I have the feeling, that Russia desperately needs something like the Beatles...
Absolutely! Even the 50's 'where? Rock & Roll began. Lots of hits of the 70's, 80's and 90's are covers from the 50's and 60's. Billy Idol, Pet Shop Boys, Jimmy Sommerville, UB 40, Cramberries, The Pretenders, Bryan Ferry, Annie Lennox and so many more prime people from those decades did visit the 50's and the 60's to get 'inspiration' when their creativities were elsewhere.
i love cliff richard.
the beatles and elvis.
the 60's were good to music.
My life is passing before my eyes. Thanks!
Thanks For Sharing!
So with this one being the last one in the "Monthly Europarade No. 1s" I have to say it was a good series at first I thought what was the point but it's actually pretty fun to watch and i'm hoping for a 2nd and maybe even 3rd Most Popular Song in Europe Each Month :)
The 60’s were just the best. I loved Cliff Richard and Elvis and all the girls of the 60’s. Cilla, Petula, Lulu, sandy,Connie, etc. loved Herman’s Hermits. The Beatles took over in 1964.
Wow, both the 60's and the 70's had some amazing music. So do 80s and 90s. Born in 82, but my parents often played this type of music. So I recognized some of that I hadn't heard for many years. Songs like "from a jack to a king" and "the ballad of john and yoko". I like that groovy bass on the "the ballad of john and yoko" song. Thanks sp much for posting all these popular songs.
Lovely music and playlist, grettings from Poland ❤❤❤❤

I think it worked out 26 songs for the Beatles 12 for Elvis rolling stones 10 and cliff about 10 the rest a mixture. I'm a Elvis fan not really a Beatles but Elvis had late 50's and early 60's until the British invasion , but i will say this music was soo much better then compared to now. I would say maybe the 80s might top the 50-60s but only just. Great video.
No way do the 1980s come close to topping the 50s-60s (in my opinion, I stress), though some fine music certainly did appear in the 80s.
Die 60er - musikalisch die beste Dekade aller Zeiten!
Eine melancholische Zeitreise zurück in die Jugend.
Elvis reigning supreme, as always! That voice.
The soundtrack of my childhood. Great to hear the songs as a rapid fire sequence ...
We cannot even imagine the impact of The Beatles in the whole world.
Oh yes - we who are old enough do remember the musical impact the Liverpool blokes made.
Overrated
@Fred-t2wyoure crazy, even if their music wasnt good in your opinion (it is good) , their inventions of new music techniques and their works in psychedelic musics paved the way for many songs today you would or you liked.
My mother was a big fan of Cliff Richard. She even named one dog we had with his name, Cliff 😍
Harry would have done, or any Tom Dick or Harry!
Interesting: I was born in 1965 but recognize nearly every song here. It ought to mean that the songs were so good people continued to listen to them, buy the records and ask for them to be played on the radio. The quality of the music from the sixties surpasses a lot of the music from later days, IMO. The Beatles, of course, are outstanding, but other musicians made memorable songs that are still popular.
Btw - I thought Dusty Springfield would be on the list.
The Fabulous Fifties were just as exciting!
Elvis, Elvis, Elvis, Beatles, Beatles, Beatles, Beatles... plus some Rolling Stones/Orbison 👍 Perfection!!
The change in Keith Richards' looks from early to late in the decade always gets me
I was quite surprised that “The Sun Ain't Gonna Shine Anymore” - a quintessential baroque pop song - wasn't there.
Super. Wonderful. My generation. Give me more!!
Rock 'n Roll, psychedilic rock, R&B, blues... what a great music!
Obrigado, Some random guy !
This song tears the heart out of me and I never met my uncle who died aged 26 in 1944 leaving a grieving wife, 2 Yr old daughter and an unborn son, a broken hearted mother, father and younger siblings. The loss is still felt throughout the generations. 💔
Wow i grow up in the 50s, 60s. it was the best years espacaily cliff richard and elvis presley. Thanks nice gift for my birthday.🙏🙏🙏🎉🎉

August and September 1968 are covers of italian songs published a few months earlier. Quando M’Innamoro from Anna Identici and Gli Occhi Miei from Dino/ Wilma Goich .
Oh my...I remember "Ya Mustafa"....and Edith Piaf....Locomotion and learning to REALLY dance ! And learning language from pop songs....and then the early Beatles ! Damn I am older than dirt !! Was in Europe for high school years. No wonder I am a tad strange.

To se ne wrati a szkoda.
Les années 60ᵉ miracle !

Good ol 60's
1960-1962. Still the late 1950s.
Until 1963. 60s officially started.
The year 1967. Started the early 1970s.
No, the 60s started in 1960, you absolute donut
The 1970s started IN 1970, NOT in '67
Could not put it better!
early 60s..mid 60s and begginig of garage rock bands and late counterculture 60s
Thats a great comment carlos...i could add that the 60s stayed on till maybe 71/72
Absolutely agree with you , music like fashion transfer and mingle from one decade into another and are not defined by the chronological order of the start of say 1950/1960/1970 etc. .
Hope you had a great Day. 💕

The Beatles only show up in December of 63 !!! Great! Better late than never !! It seems that the author of this play list is very caught up on Elvis and Cliff Richards.
Didn’t realise Cliff Richard was so big in Europe in the early 60s, then came The Beatles and other British artists Wow! As a little girl I loved The Monkees and The Archies (Sugar, Sugar)
He was. And at that time, Australia was very close to the UK (the British Empire). We loved Cliff Richard.
Cliff Richard was virtually unheard of in Germany. Thankfully! Germany went nuts over Elvis, Beatles and many REAL artists
Wow! I forgot how explosive the Beatles were. Beatles and Stones changed the face of music. Lots of good songs from my childhood that I forgot about.
The Beatles show up and suddenly the music is never the same again.
Hooray for the Beatles ☺️
After December 1963, Elvis stopped being relevant.
First there was Buddy Holly

Surprising video. Have you ever thought to a video representing Nile Rodgers' productions?
No, I didn't know that he produced that many hits (I just checked on RUclips)! But I'm planning on uploading a Giorgio Moroder video.

Elvis Presley had big hits crying in the chapel and s mind's should have been in clip
Not necessarily. "Crying In The Chapel" was a great worldwide success in June 1965, but it would be necessary to see how much impact it had in Europe, since this video refers to that geographical region. For example, "From Me To You" by The Beatles was also very successful, #1 for 7 weeks in 1963, but only in the United Kingdom, which is why it does not have enough merit to be included in this video.
This really gives a perspective to The Beatles phenomenon. They always has been one step ahead of everybody - musically, lyrically, thematically. While everyone still sung about broken hearts and teen stuff they've already tried hard rock and psychedelic music.
What about Snoopy vs The Red Baron .. in fall 1966, and Snoopy"s Christmas ..in Nov 1967. :O) They were huge in Europe. Thanks for keeping those songs alive.
