Approve your thoughts from a far away country like Sri Lanka. The Shadows and the Beatles were our school day musicians, and still enjoy their music even 60 years later.
Im nearly 60 and I have never seen this guy miss a note. I have heard it said that simple bright clean music is the very hardest to do as there Nowhere to hide. Shadows music is the epitome of this. Im glad you guys made a bunch of cash using hard work dedication and skill enriching the lives of millions for decades.
It is NOT just "classical music". :) We were all taught in music school the development of musicianship, that is being able to play "musically" is developed first and foremost, through being able to play a single line melody with as much grace as a singer would sing it. Especially with slower tunes, ballades, etc. Classical and jazz guitarists learn this "the hard way". :) There is no disputing that what Hank plays is technically simple and easy to learn. But from the original recordings 60 years ago, to ALL of the films on YT in which he plays these pieces....he NEVER deviates from what he has done and always plays these songs the same way - -and with absolute precision. You are correct....people do not comprehend how good someone has to be to be THAT "consistent". Excellent observation. :)

thank you for great memories.... I have the music since the beginning... and still today in my 70's I love to listen! It lifts me up ... always. Thank you for such great music one truly can get lost in it!
I love it. These old guys have been doing this for about 60 years. They're famous. They dont need the money. THEY PLAY BECAUSE THEY LOVE TO! That is a Musician.
I am 77 now, I heard shadows records first time when I was 17. I was so impressed, I started learning guitar. Their popular numbers were Apache, walk don’t run, Zambezi etc. Today, I am trying to teach Apache to my 11 yr old grandson. Hank, my favorite guitarist
I can’t imagine any rock band today with the talent to have a concert playing entirely instrumental music. This band is a real gift. Simply amazing!!! 👍👍👍
You're the best ! I'll never forget you.
@@mickbright8454 My brother was born with Spina Bifida and was unable to play sports. So he bought a guitar and taught himself to play all the shadows tracks. He and his wife went to more than a hundred of the Shadows' shows and were invited backstage to meet them. Bruce Welch also visited them at their home in Uxbridge in London. He turned up in his huge Mercedes and almost took out the gate post. My brother would have turned 78 this month but he passed away six years ago. I'm glad to see that you are still playing the Shadows' music.
I grew up with this music. My dad played all of The Shadows music as a guitarist. I learnt all drumming techniques thanks to this group. Also listened to The Ventures, but my ultimate was The Shadows.
I grew up in the USA with music by the Ventures as well, but when I came to Germany in '61 and first heard the Shadows that was it, I was in the club. A genial group with genial music.

The group is fantastic as a whole, but Hank Marvin is truly a guitar genius....he takes guitar playing to another level and makes it look effortless. His smiles and the look of joy on his face make it obvious he loves what does. He is a treat to our ears.
These incredibly talented musicians are still at the top of their game and still seem to be enjoying playing together as much as they ever did. They don't come any better than The Shadows. There'll never be another band like them.
I am a 78 year old Canadian Lady and I have always loved these gentlemen since I was a young girl they are the best . who else could fill a huge stadium with instrumental music
So great to watch and hear people who know what they're doing and seem to enjoy doing it. No histrionics. No tortured guitar solos. No drama.Just confident playing. Assured sonics.
Merci encore.
Who else on here loves to hear the sound coming from a Fender Stratocaster? Can’t beat its clarity! Fender forever! Thank you The Shadows🙏 A fanboy from New Zealand 🇳🇿
Wow! I have just watched this again and it has taken me back to when I was a sixteen year old boy entrant in the RAF and was entranced by Apache and FBI. I am now 72 and still love the music because it is timeless. Bought myself a Fender Stratocaster when I was 70!!
Been a Shadows since 14 years old now 76 never tire of their music met Bruce face to face when I was a page boy in Caledonian Hotel Edinburgh couldn’t speak remember he wore leather jeans in 1961!!
Wow, so many memories of my younger years, I actually love and appreciate them more now as I realise what great musicians they are, only improving (if that's possible) with age and experience. I saw them live (with Cliff) at the London Palladium in the early 60s, my first time at a theatrical musical performance and was blown away. I would go anytime to see them live again, if they still perform.
Well, I gave this a BIG THUMBS UP, because I'm a child of the 60's growing up with this stuff. This music is what started the big change in music from what it was and post war and into the 50's. A change that was only going to grow from here; And it did! We have 15 times more thumbs up than thumbs down. I THINK it's because the thumbs up people are like me and totally appreciate where this music came from. The Thumbs down people, I'm sure are music loving guys and gals but they're from a different era and they don't fully understand the evolution of music like the Shadows began and what grew from here. The thumbs up guys and gals are the lucky ones because we lived these times and loved every minute of it. My view, I've lived and loved every minute...Thanks to The Shadows.
bil haley started the change in music in the 1940's. His 1st record came out in 1943 and is considered the 1st rock'n'roll record ever made. It was a mix of the big band sound and country music that became known in the 50's as rock'n'roll. Rockabilly started in the mid 50's and is often mistaken for rock'n'roll as its simular but based on country and blues mixed together which is what Elvis actualy recorded. All of Elvis early stuff was rockabilly not rock'n'roll. The shads started out as the drifters in the mid 1950's and were a vocal group not instramental. They became the backing group to cliff richard. His 1st record has cliff and the drifters on the lable but as a US group was called the drifters they had to change their name to the shadows a name they came up with outside a pub when they were trying to think up a new name. They were sat in the shadow of a tree which is where they got the name from. They were already a big name before they became know as the shadows in the UK doing live concerts but not making records. They became more famous as the backing group for cliff richard and thats when they got a record contract for themselves. On some of their albums they have got recordings of them singing as well as playing. mary anne, and dont make my baby blue, being 2 of them.
The younger generation doesn’t understand what a musical instrument is , that’s what the problem is. They think it comes out of a computer. They also don’t realise how long it takes in time and practice to master these instruments. I think it’s called ignorance. Sorry to be so blunt but that’s it.
I've always loved listening to the Shadows instrumental music. And I'm totally impressed by the fans in attendance, and the respect, and staying silent while the songs were played in their entirety.
People very often praise guitarists like Clapton, Page, Jimi Hendrix, to mention but a few, but Hank Marvin is hardly ever mentioned , but he is a really fine and very talented guitarist in his own right.
that's only because he is different his style is more based on melody then soloing or scale running. his guitar is the singer basically. hank marvin the first guitar hero. my hat goes off to this man and the band. I am a street performer and I play there music and I just started a shadows band aswell. it is real music, music that makes people happy.

@hslee7253, sorry to disagree with you but in music, specially instrumental, there's not perfection just good or excellent interpretations cos each version it's good on their own. Remember everyone is different and what is good for you, it could not be for other, so...
I am 70 now. Loved them when I was 15. And I loved them still. Hank looks better now and is incredibly good now as before. Thank you H ank and Bruce and Brian . You make my day.
Spent ages in my bedroom playing these songs, back in the sixties. No trem on my guitar , but the callous on my fingertips from trying match the trem were very thick 😅. Many years later sitting at work on night shift watching a young man trying to learn these songs, I actually got to play them on his strat. 😂😂😂😂😂 the look of shock on his face !
Melody kings Hank Marvin and his group. No doubt they are the best during 70s.Ventures are rhythm masters and rest maestros are unique in their style of music presentation. Wow Shadows overwhelmed all musicians. Bravo!
Hank, my huge childhood hero, inspired me into playing guitar when I was 7 years old and my first single was Apache. Now, at 68, I am still playing in a band who is doing just great. Thank you Hank and The Shadows. Still get huge chills up my spine when I hear you play! Love you man!
What an incredible and unforgettable band one of my favorites when I was a teenager in the 60's. For a short time I had a band and the songs of The Shadows were with which I started my path in music, which was interrupted when I entered university and then I was for more than 40 years in the world of work as a Software Engineer. Now that I am recently retired, I have bought a humble Squier Stratocaster and have started to pick up this beautiful path starting with the songs of this master that is Hank Marvin and his wonderful band. Life is just beginning in my early 70s. Thanks The Shadows for the inspiration.
If you want that sound and that tone you must get a Vox amp! They are using the Vox Ac30. But the smaller Vox amps can make the signature tone as well.

As usual the brilliant Hank Marvin, the best in the world. Hank how do you make it look so easy. ? The best of the best guitarists by a country mile. So clear so distinctive sound. You just can't buy it. It's God given talent.
That was tremendous. The Shadows will always be known as the best of the best entertainers to this day. Thank you for sharing and for the wonderful memories.
My late father was a Shadows fan, and I grew up with them too, every cassette in the glovebox was the Shadows, he had a white and red strat, he always played the Shadows tunes. Its now mine, maybe I should try and learn to play. It’s been 4 years since he left us, had Wonderful land and the Deerhunter played at the funeral. Miss him every second of everyday but listening to this today has helped. Still tears but tears of joy. Love the Shadows.
Cassettes - ah, those were the days! Rewind them too much to keep listening to your favourite track and you ended up with a chewed up mass of useless magnetic tape! LOL My advice? Get that guitar tuned up and start tinkering with it, learn to play it if you can. But whatever you do, enjoy it and keep on remembering your late father. :-)
Same here my Dad had all of their 45s grew up with them now in the morning I ask Alexa to play their playlist sets me up for the day brilliant memories ❤️🇬🇧
I saw them at our local cinema in the sixties when Jet Harris was on base and they are still as fantastic today. What other group will last as long. Hank was born to play a Strat and boy how he can play. Thanks for this.
I saw them in Wigan with Jet Harris on bass and tony Mehan (Meehan?) on drums. They had just released "Wonderful Land". Frank Ifield was the supporting act, promoting his release of "I remember you" What a fantastic night that was!
SUPER, SUPER CHINGONES; YO LOS ESCUCHO DESDE MIS 18 AÑOS, AHORA TENGO 73 AÑOS, Y A LA FECHA LOS SIGO ESCUCHANDO COMO EN MIS TIEMPOS DE MI JUVENTUD DE GRATOS RECUERDOS, DIOS ME LOS SIGA BENDICIEND .... SALUDOS DESDE MI MÉXICO LINDO Y QUERIDO .... Y VIVA MÉXICO CABRONES !!!! 🇲🇽🇲🇽

😂😂❤❤ this has nothing to do with age! It’s matter with the environment of our age! The hair of some players on that age turned in silver too ! So as ours!😂😂. We are from the same age! Ha Ha Ha!🥰😄🥰😍🎈🎈Take care! Enjoy the good stuff in your life today! Such as enjoy your favorite singing team life today! 😂😂❤❤
Yes sir I can add that I have seen them live 3 times and they are by far the best in their field at what they do and I still love it all and I am 84 years old
Marvin's technical (and artistic) skills have always been underappreciated. The Strat & the Vox in the confines of Abby Rd. studio , were primary. This guy created a SOUND. Marvin is an architect: he's inside the echo, shaping it with the constant tremelo effects. He has a great sense of timing in the way that he uses all the components of his sound. And then, on those occassions when he uses the volume pedal, the control he commands is unmatched. It's enough to keep a lisener like myself busy for 50 yrs.
Man that old Strat sure sounds great. Great job. Thanks for reminding us older folks what we been missing. Love it. One of the greatest groups ever. Love you all! God Bless you always!

I heard that even Princess Margareth of the royal kingdom was fan of the shadows in the sixties. No wonder, she hat good taste and so she was fond of them. Bravo Hank Marvin and musicians, even Ben Marvin. You and your music are great. What a treat for us.
I have vivid memories of Shadows hits from 1958 as a 10-year-old baby boomer. Their music helped to define our childhood. Some associations between Shadows' hits and events of my teenage youth are so poignant, just hearing these gems again gives me goosebumps. The original lineup too. Thanks guys.
First time I saw Hank Marvin was in Jean Michel Jarre Docklands 88 concert. Then, my father told he had "this band called shadows". Been listening since then. This is true music. Simple, well played and with tons of musicality ! A great band.
I'm 30 and have just listened to 26 minutes of pure Guitar gold. Lots of people my age (and younger) are rediscovering this great music as a replacement for the commercial stuff produced now!
Lee Lacey Fully support that..100% Despite my previous neg. comnents. I never criticised the band nor their music, only the idiots making comparative, 'best in the world' comments.
They are an absolute joy to listen to Live. Their utter professionalism is unsurpassed. The reworking of Savage from the original is fantastic. I continually revisit this 2313 concert, it's an absolute tonic and a chance to wallow in nostalgia. I remember the Sixties and I was there.
Impressionante! Giovanni
Shadows where a lendendry those good old days...group..though I didnt listen to them ...because we did not have the recordings of those days ..which you have now..tech has gone up greatly..but now with u tube..being an instrumental fanatic...i just got lucky to hear them..There is always a once in a century who play this type of music..many afterwards did..but you can't replace the originals..Guitarists of the present day need to learn from these amazing Group..no frills ..no theatrics..just good world class instrumentals..OLD is GOLD

You're the best ! I'll never forget you.
I have every single Shadows record they ever produced. I'm 74 years old and still enjoy that clean crisp magic sound. THIS is music.
I'm 79 and still playing this great music in my band.
I am from Turkey,ı am still listen them every day half or one hour in a day
This music and the memories attached with it is like looking at one sunset after another....
I had a few Whiskies, my wife came home and the laptop and speakers had us dancing to it again!!
The greatest instrumental band of all time lead by the genius of Hank Marvin
Inoubliables ! Unforgettable musics !@@johninglott9932
I grew up in the USA with music by the Ventures as well, but when I came to Germany in '61 and first heard the Shadows that was it, I was in the club. A genial group with genial music.
As a guitarist of 60+ years ... I LOVE that an instrumental group can draw a crowd that big!! FUN city!
I grew up listening to the Shadows and I
still love listening to the music nearly 60 years later 🤩🥰
My instrumental journey started from the influence of “The Shadows”. I recently released this song with guitar legend Louie Shelton, I’d love you to have a listen ❤️

The group is fantastic as a whole, but Hank Marvin is truly a guitar genius....he takes guitar playing to another level and makes it look effortless. His smiles and the look of joy on his face make it obvious he loves what does. He is a treat to our ears.
Fantastische Muziekkanten dierbare herrinneringen aan ! Onvergetelijk ❤🇳🇱🙏🎸🎸🎸🥁👋( April 2022)
Yes, a high level.
Bingo. I am 72. I know what you are talking about.
Eternal! Love those guys ❤ I'm 66, and hope to listen to them as long as I live or even more...
Mam 77 lat i ciągle Ich słucham! Jesteśmy małżeństwem już 56 lat.
These incredibly talented musicians are still at the top of their game and still seem to be enjoying playing together as much as they ever did. They don't come any better than The Shadows. There'll never be another band like them.
Eles são os the shadows

I am a 78 year old Canadian Lady and I have always loved these gentlemen since I was a young girl they are the best . who else could fill a huge stadium with instrumental music
Sweet sounds..:)
And I'm in Australia...:)
So great to watch and hear people who know what they're doing and seem to enjoy doing it. No histrionics. No tortured guitar solos. No drama.Just confident playing. Assured sonics.
Merci encore.

The Shadows, what a great bunch of guys, brilliant music, head & shoulder's above the rest. What a crowd . Long may they reign supreme.
After all these years Still alive and kicking, I was just a high school student when I began to admire them, great band they are
Who else on here loves to hear the sound coming from a Fender Stratocaster? Can’t beat its clarity! Fender forever! Thank you The Shadows🙏 A fanboy from New Zealand 🇳🇿

The Vox AC30 does its bit, too.
Wow! I have just watched this again and it has taken me back to when I was a sixteen year old boy entrant in the RAF and was entranced by Apache and FBI. I am now 72 and still love the music because it is timeless. Bought myself a Fender Stratocaster when I was 70!!

I hope you get lots of enjoyment out of your strat
I got my mine for my 50th!...candy apple red standard USA strat.
I have listened to the SHADOWS from day one I just can't forget these guys.
Been a Shadows since 14 years old now 76 never tire of their music met Bruce face to face when I was a page boy in Caledonian Hotel Edinburgh couldn’t speak remember he wore leather jeans in 1961!!
It was a huge, awesome pleasant surprise to hear these four still playing the melodies I had already forgotten. Thanks a million!!
Allan H . Me too, I had the time of my life.
bil haley started the change in music in the 1940's.
Even though I was born in the 80s, I appreciate The Shadows, they are better then some of these modern bands about
Foxtrotunclecharliekiloing brilliant
The younger generation doesn’t understand what a musical instrument is , that’s what the problem is. They think it comes out of a computer. They also don’t realise how long it takes in time and practice to master these instruments. I think it’s called ignorance. Sorry to be so blunt but that’s it.
The Shadows, priceless!
More than 60 years!!!
Brian Bennett, beyond excellent!
May God bless you!
I've always loved listening to the Shadows instrumental music. And I'm totally impressed by the fans in attendance, and the respect, and staying silent while the songs were played in their entirety.
THE AUDIENCE IS ABSOLUTELY AWED AND ENTHRALLED!!!
Cuz they learned manner , our/new generation is not.
Brilliant good music never dies

Yes Cliff and the Shadows .
Fantastic .🎉
I am 76, and fantastic memories of all since the
60s .
People very often praise guitarists like Clapton, Page, Jimi Hendrix, to mention but a few, but Hank Marvin is hardly ever mentioned , but he is a really fine and very talented guitarist in his own right.
The Best the others follow
hes the best
that's only because he is different his style is more based on melody then soloing or scale running. his guitar is the singer basically. hank marvin the first guitar hero. my hat goes off to this man and the band. I am a street performer and I play there music and I just started a shadows band aswell. it is real music, music that makes people happy.
@@dionermen842 Best of luck to you and your band mate!![...in the 60's a band was exactly that.... a band.... ...brass!!...we were called "Pop Groups" "Rhythm Groups" "Rock Groups".."Rhythm n' Blues Groups"...but NOT BANDS!]..times change, but I am pleased there are people like you Dion, who still carry on the love of the Shads to the people on the street!

How's it possible that this music still sounds so good after all this time? I'm pleased that the large audience tells me that I'm not alone in my love of The Shadows.
Because good music ever dies. Other examples would be Mozart and Beethoven. Still good after 200 years just like this will be.
Bill Blinky. Most honest praise I have heard for years.
the shadows, simply the best, no other group comes close, after sixty years i will never tire of listening too them

Yes, they are the best, I love them too, take good care hslee, all the best! 👍
@hslee7253, sorry to disagree with you but in music, specially instrumental, there's not perfection just good or excellent interpretations cos each version it's good on their own. Remember everyone is different and what is good for you, it could not be for other, so...

Only 65 but the Shadows allow me to forget all my problems.
i'm 72, love their music still to this day
Same as me and eventually in 1998 I could buy a Hank B Marvin Stratocaster as the second in Sweden. I still have it.
Ok
If you want that sound and that tone you must get a Vox amp! They are using the Vox Ac30. But the smaller Vox amps can make the signature tone as well.
Micsoda zsenik ezek a fiúk dallamos, fülbemászó zenék, világbajnokok, imádom!!!!!❤❤❤❤
What I love about this is the complete simplicity of each individual's playing into a perfect blend of complexity..

The Shadows have always maintained that distinctive sound and style of theirs from day 1. I love them no end. Long live the Shadows.
Yes, they are the best shadows - no grey one among them.
Their music is so clean and distinctive. They have their own sound. Shadows for ever
Oh boy, and what UA ?
LOL
My advice? Get that guitar tuned up and start tinkering with it, learn to play it if you can. But whatever you do, enjoy it and keep on remembering your late father. :-)
The shadows and that sound are the best every group

It's enough to keep a lisener like myself busy for 50 yrs.
so so so so so true, i've always been blown away by the whole band but hanks timing is like a drum machine.
Bullshit, hank is hailed as one of the all time greats,he's very much appreciated

Sorry Geoff, but the "original" lineup was Hank, Bruce, Tony Meehan and Jet Harris. Still, that is what happens when we all get older, Lol!
If one is listening to The Shadows even today, then they have certainly captivated the minds of the music lovers!! What a melodic composition.
What a gift this band has been! So grateful to hear this music performed so flawlessly.

They are an absolute joy to listen to Live. Their utter professionalism is unsurpassed. The reworking of Savage from the original is fantastic. I continually revisit this 2313 concert, it's an absolute tonic and a chance to wallow in nostalgia. I remember the Sixties and I was there.
