Seriously, do you have a problem, or what? This is something that happens every decade, even the 70s considering how many songs sounded like the 60s music at the start of that decade. So I guess 70s music is overrated too? (Note: not serious with that last sentence. I love music from more or less every decade.)

I believe "Self Control" was the most popular song of Summer 1984, at least in Europe, if not the entire world. Not just the Branigan version, either. Between Branigan and Raf, that song thoroughly dominated the Summer of 1984 in Europe. It was so dominant in Europe that it could've been the most popular song WORLDWIDE in the Summer of 1984. How many other times have you seen a song trade the #1 spot with itself IN CONSECUTIVE WEEKS, for example? "Self Control" did this in Switzerland!

Después llego Madonna y tantos otros!!❤❤❤...Pero No incluiste a U2!

      Hello from 🇩🇪.
That's bc it's not only about music from the UK here 4 instance. English is the main lang. in music, but there's loads of excellent music from all over EUR in the charts with diff. languages. Even if u can't understand it u don't care...as long as the vibe's good and the music is catchin' ya. And not 2 4get German artists who sing English as well, they appear in the Eurocharts as well sometimes. And even an American band with a German name 😉. Still love that TopGun soundtrack...
Enya & Ofra Haza were gr8 too. And we also know what's goin' on in the US charts since my youth in the 80s, we even appreciate music from Down Under.
      ❤ Kylie since '88.
That's the diff. to the US. HipHop's takin' over😉. You only recognize music from the UK and a bit of AUS. Many hits aren't even known in the US.
USA 1st.😂😉 But don't get me wrong...love it...have been there twice, Can incl. 1st time in '82.
But that declares the variety here if u ask me. 😉
But Modern Talking was so 🤢🤮. All others were OK😂🤣
Shout was my personal hit of all time. No.1 for about half a year !!! back then when i was 14, but wasn't even home then 4 about 1.5yrs. But thx 2
      Radio Bahrain
      i got this fab. one!
But where's Fade to Grey btw. ???
      Would've expe😢cted it here 4 sure.😢

I was born 1973. So, of course I know every single one of these 80's songs. All killer - no filler. This decade was wild, extremely entertaining and diverse. I'm so glad that I experienced it live. Kids today will never ever understand this. Imagine this video with the recent 2020 decade. This will just be a Taylor Swift soundtrack ;-)

Of these songs Lambada was the one that was biggest in the UK,though not number 1,in December 1989. That month's charts also included Got to Get by Rob & Raz featuring Leila K,which appears at the start of the second most popular songs in the 90s video. Another Day in Paradise got to number 2 in November 1989.
