I believe "Self Control" was the most popular song of Summer 1984, at least in Europe, if not the entire world. Not just the Branigan version, either. Between Branigan and Raf, that song thoroughly dominated the Summer of 1984 in Europe. It was so dominant in Europe that it could've been the most popular song WORLDWIDE in the Summer of 1984. How many other times have you seen a song trade the #1 spot with itself IN CONSECUTIVE WEEKS, for example? "Self Control" did this in Switzerland!

Of these songs Lambada was the one that was biggest in the UK,though not number 1,in December 1989. That month's charts also included Got to Get by Rob & Raz featuring Leila K,which appears at the start of the second most popular songs in the 90s video. Another Day in Paradise got to number 2 in November 1989.

I was born in 2000 and this feels like going through a time machine. Thanks for the playlist
I lived through the 80's... NO REGRETS!!!
Thank you so much! So much good songs and memories. Would like to listen full song when i hear this is so good and then this is so good too😅
I was born 1973. So, of course I know every single one of these 80's songs. All killer - no filler. This decade was wild, extremely entertaining and diverse. I'm so glad that I experienced it live. Kids today will never ever understand this. Imagine this video with the recent 2020 decade. This will just be a Taylor Swift soundtrack ;-)
1984, what a year
Some epic music from an epic decade. Physical is one of my guilty pleasures to this day. ❤
I was curious what the big single was in December 1989...
I dont know but it would be a 90s song like 80s kids like to claim songs from the late 70s lol
80s and 90s best music ever. Best written songs and music in few centuries packed in 2 decades.
Non lo sapevo che era morto, riposa in pace Eric ,sono ancora legato al tuo brano I wanna...in quell' estate che andavo per la prima volta in disco all'aperto,la chiamavamo la canzone dei sospiri non conoscendo il titolo😅
