GWagon has always been one of my favorite SUVs. It has become the new family mini van where I live here in FL. With that being said. I would definitely take this Lexus over the Gwagon.

@@MercOne I own a GX450h (just bought it off of lease) as I wait to upgrade to the GX550h (hybrid) once it's out. That being said, I think the Defender definitely has a more refined interior even from just videos (my neighbor has one; I should bug him for a rid...lol), whereas I've been in a new GX550. I've never been a G Wagon fan. Land Rover was always the ultimate vehicle for me until every single one of my friends who bought one said they were maintenance nightmares. I would also add there is almost no way Lexus is going to squander their legendary reliability. A version of this V6 twin turbo have been out 7-8 years now. I think ride is somewhat subjective so I won't comment, but what Lexus did with the GX radiator, bumpers, ride height, articulation and new KDSS I gather beats the snot out of the Defender and Land Rover which is mostly still selling off of their 1980s rep (kind of like what Rolex does).
I think 36K were slated for US in 2024 and they are all spoken for already. They will be selling a ton of these for years to come. I'm waiting for the hybrid next year before I make a decision.
I think the new LandCruiser (U.S spec) does a pretty fair job of that already. In certain trims and paint, namely the white roof ones with the round headlights. A new FJ will probably have fun roof options like a Jeep Wrangler to add to that style.

The older Lexus SUVs looked great. This one looks ugly though. Aethetics wise - I love G-Wagon. Mukesh Ambani bought a dozen for his security detail along with a dozen RR Velar.
This is way better than previous GX. My wife had one many years ago. Wouldn't buy her another one I hated to drive it. The V8 was SLOW. Great resale though. This one I would buy. Very nice with Lexus reliability it's the winner.
The reason the rear wiper is at the bottom glass is to offer the most visibility, which is why you have a wiper to begin with. You need the most clear glass at the bottom of the glass and not at the top, to see traffic or for parking.
Simply put: 99% of those owning G-Wagons do so for show. I think this GX invites some off-road time. Especially the Overtrail version. That's my intended future for it.
I am loving what Lexus is doing. Some say the new models are outdated. That is what I love about them. Both Acura, and Lexus are simply, beautiful automobiles, and I have a hard time choosing between the two. 💙✌️
Dealers are marking these up so high right now. So excited for this vehicle. Never bought a new vehicle and was going for this but I fear it’s gonna be a long while until that’s possible.
Your best bet is getting a single owner lease with low mileage and no accident history or wait for the redesign when this generation is being discounted to make way for new inventory.

If the FJ Cruiser returns, this new shape that Toyota Lexus has will fit the FJ Cruiser really well.
