Greetings from Scotland! Of all the vehicle reviewers I watch - your humour (English spelling) is way off the charts compared to any others! Your wackiness (is that a word?) fits with me perfectly! Keep it just the way it is young lady! Love it! 😊😊
It’s the jokes I look forward to. The jokes about seeing the burned-in sun in your eyes and the deciphering of the symbols on whatever that was next to the driver’s seat were hilarious. And I agree with the person about the Sarah Breaking Hair. “O.K.!” and then POW!, out flies the hair. Love it all. Thanks.
Was a signature away from purchasing a white overtrail about a month ago. They were about 5k over msrp with stupid add-ons. I asked them to remove them and they wouldn't budge. I walked, and a week later they called and said they would remove them😂! It's a sweet suv. I loved it. Maybe next year I'll get one. When they called back the sales manager said he really wanted my 21 Toyota ORP with only 19k on the odo. They offered me 38k for it. I paid 44k 3 years previous.
I was behind one of these at a stoplight yesterday. Was surprised to see the “LEXUS” block lettering on the tailgate because it looks nothing like previous generation GXs to my eye. Love the off-the-cuff humor you always manage to include in these reviews, particularly the deciphering of symbols. 😆 Thank you, Sarah 👍👍👍
The camera inside the tailgate is for the digital rear view mirror to show an unobstructed view. Flip the switch on the rear view mirror to turn on the monitor. 😊
Amen to your observation about buying an “off road” vehicle with an over emphasis on luxury features at the expense of capability. Also, 22s probably wouldn’t be any off-roaders choice if there are rocks any larger than a tennis ball lying around. On the other hand, if you live in Indiana and encounter crappy blacktop roads, snow, gravel roads, etc. just to get to a mall, maybe there is a niche market.
The real one to be looking out for doing a review is the Ineos Grenadier. Severely overbuilt for offroad, extremely heavy duty undercarriage, triple locked differentials. Can’t wait for you to get your hands on one of those.
Watching how you're testing a luxury SUV on your off-road course is a special pleasure. It's like watching a battle of engineers who engineered off-road techs against the marketing department who marketed in a bunch of luxury features into the car. Also, wishing you that some day you'll get a new 2025 G Wagon for off-road test. It seems Mercedes-Benz likes you, so there's hope.

That’s a great opening statement 🤣 I live in central London which is an excellent place to see numerous Range Rovers, Defenders and many other off road capable vehicles!
OMG yes! The grilles on all Lexus models have been hideous for a long time. It looks like they are finally moving away from those tortured trapezoids or whatever they are.
Great review, Sarah. You're the only car reviewer that squeals tires in the dirt! Your review drives home the point that Lexus cars, built in Japan, are simply the best. BTW...I love your cute shoes. Keep up the great work.
I won't give up my GX470 for a long long time. Sure it is antiquated, but it has an engine I know will never leave me stranded. The recall on this new motor and it's longevity is still out for jury, but I doubt it will ever be as iconic as the 2uz-fe 4.7V8. Now if I only could get some of the trail cam gizmos that would be awesome ;-)
Great review, love the looks on this generation! I am still driving my first gen 2003 Gx470, with the 2 UZ. These trucks last a lifetime if you take care of them. Ps, you have the best car reviews on RUclips, well done!
I like it that it looks purposeful and utalitarian despite being the Luxury Plus - no chrome! yay! - and I love that you take it on the Rally Special Stage 2.0 and off-road test, even if it is not the dedicated off-road version, Sarah! ❤ I don't need to say it was another top-notch review, but I will anyway - this was another top-notch review! Thank you for what you do and Stay Awesome!
Lexus paints the driveshafts, at that price it's normal too 😄. Too bad you didn't get the off-road version, but your test drive already gives you an idea of its capabilities, which must be impressive.
Out here in the real wild west, this SUV would be considered a perfect vehicle for 'drugstore' cowboys! Love your opening statement saying much the same!!
You're my new favourite YT car reviewer. Your level of vehicular build and function coverage is superb, and your manner of humour is both quirky and delightful. Your engineering background comes to fore with your insights. Two thumbs up 👍🏻👍🏻
I own one of these in the Luxury +. This is the best review by far. I’ve always wanted to get a view of the under carriage and this was great! Beats getting down on the ground and scooting around. It seems to be built very well.
My 2015 armada was just as nice, and after watching this review that Sarah does an amazing job with, no thanks, thank you for all you do, Sarah. You are awesome, and thank you for your service.
I believe that second rear facing camera that is behind the tail gate glass may be the camera it will use if you are towing. Or, it might be one of the cameras the system uses for the driver assists.
Hey Sarah! I’d love it if you would do a review on the newly redesigned 2025 Cadillac CT5, either the 4 cylinder or the 6 cylinder. It’s a great car with all new tech!
I know someone who would go for such a setup, they want the body on frame for crash safety, Lexus for reliability, the big wheels for show, the boxy look for show and ease of use space. And never go off road.
5th matching wheel same since Gen I GX. "Pavement Princess"! If your HUD adjusted correctly. Left column CAP A has a diagonal line until you tap it to set to AUTO. Rear mirror/rear camera like having a drop top. Shapeology cover hides 9v charger/fuzz buster plug. Your custom digital gauge cluster is set to your profile. If by chance after setting up your cluster you want to change yes pull over don't drive and customize.
Always an honest and truthful review. We all know these suckers will never see off pavement adventures. But you still put it thru the rally stage test! 🙂 Pricey grocery getter...
Ha! The LCD glass was my Senior Project when I went to Widener. I wanted to make welding helmets with it but right after I graduated I saw one in a Eastwood catalog around 1999. Oh well. Great minds think alike.
I really like how Lexus builds cars and their attention to detail like for instance, the little plastic cover over the door latch, if you’ve ever seen a Toyota have this it’s basically a Lexus…….with higher parts….bins…..yep…. The other thing is that the panel gaps I always look at those. I’m such a nerd.
$18,540 in options, fearful of what the off road over trail addition addition would add to the total coast. Oh who the phuk am I kidding? It ain't happinin. So looking forward to the delivery of your line of scrubbing products.
She's processing orders at this very moment, you guys kinda broke the system on that first day! Haha, she should have all the orders packaged up within a week by the looks of it.
When you do measurements with your little digital measure, you round up or down to the main measurement number, but my OCD says you should state it more precisely like Mr. Spock. Like 21.76 millimeters, not 21 millimeters. Love all your reviews. You're fun to watch!
Back in the 80's I remember an automotive journalist saying that you should always wait at least one model year before buying a new or updated model of a car because the manufacturers are usually still working out the kinks when they release a vehicle. I doubt anyone takes one of these off road even if the buy the overtrail model. Some Toyota have the sunroof glass that can go opaque and Mclarens have it.
Yeah those roof racks as we call them in South Africa. Those on my Dad's Ford Territory 2006, I removed them as the rubber placings for balance starting wearing out and the noise is exhausting, will put them back if they are needed.😅
The ultimate off-road rig for people who drive it on the road is the Land Rover Defender. I've seen many with every offroad extra with road tyres. Not even all terrains.
I imagine the rear view camera being behind the glass is so that the rear wiper can clean it. As I find it very frustrating myself to once a week have to clean my review camera
Benefits of v6 over the v8 is for the consumer if you want the power and performance you get it ...for the manufacturer less parts less production costs
An off-road vehicle with no off-road drive mode seems silly, but I'd lay odds that this model will outsell the off-road-capable GX550. I don't know what the stats are for North America, but 3 out of every 4 SUVs sold in the UK in 2019 were sold to city- and town-dwellers. And more than a third of the vehicles registered that year to people living in the affluent London borough of 'Kensington and Chelsea' were SUVs. Hence the British term for SUVs: Chelsea tractors. ;->
The new Lexus does look great and has the towing capacity I would like. Wish it got better fuel economy. I know you have to pay to play, would be nice if it was about $20K cheaper too. Will probably get the 4Runner less money and better fuel economy.
If this is anything like the IS, the sound is piped in, not fake, the reason? Saying an amplified sound is fake is the same as saying your voice through a mic is fake.

True that, big front dive, short distance.
The Sarah brake test HAIR ACCELEROMETER will also need to include a hair departure angle measure
I usually hate the way newer cars look, but I saw one of these at a light the other day and was pretty impressed.
I LOVE THE NEW SQUARE BOXIER LOOK.
Doesn't look pretty from the back, it's too narrow and the wheels look too narrow, making it visually weak, compared to the mega mean facia...

Think off-roaders looking at the GX will buy the base premium / premium + and add their own stuff or go for the overtrail
Bummed you weren't able to get the Overtrail trim. Hopefully you can get one to test in the future.

Agreed. The only reasonable solution to this, imo is a stronger transmission that will support 550 lbft tq and power output to match.

14.4 mpg? My 2019 Land Cruiser 5.7 V8 has averaged 15.7 since I bought it new over five years ago. Not crazy about turbo V6.
V6 seems a waste of time seeing that fuel economy hasn’t really changed. Bring back the V8 I don’t recall any recalls on that one
It's new and needs to be broken in, and has a very limited time to actually calculate. Calm down. My 2016 GX with the V8 I get about 14.
