The Joker and Vito Corleone now have something in common: They are the only characters to be portrayed in two Oscar winning performances! Vito Corleone was portrayed by Marlon Brando (The Godfather) and Robert DeNiro (The Godfather Part II), who won Best Actor and Best Supporting Actor respectively. The Joker was portrayed by Heath ledger who posthumously won Best Supporting Actor for The Dark Knight and by Joaquin Phoenix who recently won Best Actor! He TOTALLY deserves his win for Best Actor and he's one of the greatest actors EVER!!!
What a dream actor to work with, constantly coming up with new way's to do a scene and then you just pick the best one. Imagine not having to tell a person what to do, that's great.
Lynne Ramsay recounted that Joaquin did a lot of scenes from You Were Never Really Here of different way and for this reason she could have done the movie in many different ways . She said that he is the best actor she has ever met and will soon be working with him again.
y‘all bashing the actor being bad and not addressing the fact that he was handed a literal bag of shit of a script to play with. Also he wasn't even bad in BvS, yes I get it you guys hated the film but fuck you guys that's what the director wanted the film to be and Affleck gave what Snyder wanted, that's the definition of being a good actor.
I kinda feel like they should've done something truly meta, and release like 20 different cuts in theaters. As soon as people would start to talk about the film, they'd all share a slightly different version, truly making it a multiple choice origin story. Who knows, that might've been the plan, but given the 'risk' that this movie was, I wouldn't be surprised if a studio exec wouldn't let them.
The Internet would have broken it down; leaked all the info, compilations would be up for all theatrical cuts on RUclips and clickbait websites would have pounced on it on it within hours. It was have been a fruitless attempt.
Deltan a fruitless attempt? I see a great PR of people putting up content to get people talking about the movie. That’s what every filmmaker wants. The original expectation would maybe have failed but the consequence of free press talking and fans disassemble the puzzle would make bank

Why he said that????
😂
Denise Maria Branquinho probably bcz there’s so many different versions and Joaquin Phoenix was prolly trying different things each time
He was waiting patiently for his death scene
I don't think he said that. If he did then give me the source?
I like that he had some creative control. Pair that up with a good director and what grows out of that is a natural progression of a character in real life. Sometimes that is much better than what the writer originally intended. It’s more organic and consistent.
@ getting a gun and killing his attackers was a big turning point. and also getting off of his prescribed medications. a lot of people do something once and find out they love it. that was him when he killed those guys on the subway
@ Remember that the movie is all from Joker's point of view. He could look like a loving son and human from his eyes only.
Appreciate Rob De Niro giving the space for him to find himself.
“There was also one scene where he just...didn’t turn up to filming that day.”

Imagine if the alternate scene was instead of killing Murr-ay
He just shakes his hand and leaves but the build up is exactly the same
@Marc Subnone Probably the second option
Im not sure why youd build up to no climax but ok
henrlima87 cause it would be funny and my comment was a joke 🤦♂️
Apparently there WAS a far more violent version of when he killed Murray but they didn't use that scene. The one where he kills the fat guy who gave him the gun in his apartment is a ripper. Especially the midget. And when the midget cant reach the door handle and he's deliberately scaring him as a joke, pretending like he's going to kill the midget too.

The Joker is killed off in the DCEU
The Joker film gets 11 oscar nominations.

Where did you get that from?
Ge@r&@rcher when was he killed off in the DCEU?

@Nic Rock no the rumors said Harley & joker broke up...and probably jared leto is out for the role

One scene where he just immediately shoots Murray through the curtain
hahahahaha
That wouldn't work because he originally intended to kill himself on air. It was only after Murr-ay proved how awful a person he was that he decided to kill him.

All the takes were in Joker's mind of the different scenerios he envision himself how he wanted it to go.
Nice theory, seriously this movie has a lot of things
Headcanon?
😂😂😂
I didn't know he did his acting like this. I think it's very admirable. Like he's a proper Director's Actor. He just throws out all this stuff, and then it's up to the Director and Editor to decide what stuff they want to use.
its crazy because these all articulate joker's character perfectly, but you can feel different moods with each take. joaquin is an incredible actor with so much excellent unpredictability. you can count that every movie he stars in will be great!!
He’s definitely the best actor to play Joker. All those takes, we can see Joker 🃏
Lygia Costa I respect ur opinion but I think heath ledger better
Sab3r nah joaquin is just better in almost all aspects as an actor and the joker
Krithik Singh lol no
Sab3r I respect your opinion too =] I understand Heath Ledger fascinated lots of ppl just like Phoenix did. And just like Ledger is gonna be the best forever for you guys, Phoenix is already my favorite no matter what.
Heath Ledger is definitely a better Joker but Joaquin is up there. Though I still like Jack Nicholsons.
2:33 Omg they should have used that scene, his stance gets me XD

Thats meme worthy
It's great, but i think the last one, with the fingers as a gun would have been a good choice too
Kind of remind me of nardwuar there lmao
0:23 this is 100,000% giving me Jack Nicholson vibes.... what an impeccable actor.
Heeeere's Arty!
This is what greatness looks like. You have people who play the character, then you have people that embody the character so well, the two become indistinguishable. Mr.Pheonix clearly falls into the latter group.
Joker Joaquin's cut
Joker Todd's cut
Joker Warner's cut
Joker Snyder's cut... oh wait!!!🤣
The actor himself can do the cut??? Aren't him supposed to following what the director visions?

It's so great! I only wish Heath were alive to see his friend Joaquin's portrayal of the Joker.
Joaquin should've done what Brando did and turn the Oscar down. would certainly be in keeping with the character.

I kinda feel like they should've done something truly meta, and release like 20 different cuts in theaters. As soon as people would start to talk about the film, they'd all share a slightly different version, truly making it a multiple choice origin story.
Who knows, that might've been the plan, but given the 'risk' that this movie was, I wouldn't be surprised if a studio exec wouldn't let them.
logistically that would be a nightmare, just for organizing showtimes and all the different run times. but it would've been cool af
