when I was younger I didn't give it any thought.... but yeah this kid is mentally ill lol
he did defend his home tho, psychopath or not
It's a wild juxtaposition, because while he absolutely did defend his home, he did it in the must messed up and deranged way imaginable... Definitely some grey area here. But I think the big one for me is that he didn't tell his family ANYTHING after the fact... Not a word... The kid was a straight up savage and tried to fuck up these burglars for sport, not even for the glory
R u serious? Why is he mentally ill to defend his home? I think there is something wrong with whoever thinks he is mentally ill
@@wabc2336 Have you not seen this movie? It’s not mental to defend your home. But there’s definitely something wrong with you upstairs if you choose to torture people with discount saw traps instead of calling the cops.

Kevin isn't a psycopath. Sure, some of Kevin's traps are very dangerous, but we know he wasn't out right trying to murder him. The real psycopath is the kid in Home Sweet Home who literally tried to murder the two burglars in every single way.
SUCH AS INPALING THEM WITH ICE SPIKES.
Fun fact! The reason why Kevin had access to mannequin’s for the fake house party was because the mom is a successful fashion designer, and the main breadwinner for the family!
The most impressive thing about Kevin is his ability to construct traps and clean the house in the time period he does. Every part of the house, including the tarred steps with nails on them, was clean except for Buzz's room by the time the adults got back.
I personally believe that Kevin chose not to clean Buzz’s room. It makes sense.
100% Buzz was trash 😂@Nqall_94
@Nqall_94 it’s funny because buzz was damn sure more excited to see kev & it looked genuine compared to his dad who looked like ah this little rascal yay & he hugs him fakes smile & walks off into which the smile turned immediately into a straight face as if he hated seeing Kevin😂 it’s wild that buzz looked more excited to see Kevin than anyone else besides his mom 😂😂😂😂
He probably didn't clean Buzzes room on purpose
Buzz is a jerk, and had it coming
Whats even more impressive is how he managed to not trip/activate the traps himself by mistake as almos the whole house is full of traps by that point, let alone removing all of them properly before his family members arrived to avoid injuring them! Whelp, i guess trying to think logically about fiction sucks all the fun out of it 🤷♂
"Harry, are we immortal?"
"That's ridiculous, Marv. But yes."
I heard their voices in my head reading this haha
Same.
It's even crazier in Home Alone 2. Marv takes four bricks to his forehead, drops a full story to the basement floor, trips and slides into a wall where a shelf of paint cans falls on top of him, has a hundred pound bag of flour dropped on his face from two stories up, gets electrocuted, takes another hit to the head by a heavy iron bar, followed by same iron bar falling on top of their ribs, gets slammed into a wall by a heavy tool chest, then falls again to the ground from a couple stories up and potential burns from the fired-up rope and have a few dozen paints cans fall down on of him. I'm sorry but how is he still alive after all that?

There’s a fan theory that Kevin is Jigsaw
This perspective is terrifying, a evil little gremlin who will eventually evolve one day to become Saw essentially tortures you.
The movie series' name is Saw, the killer's name (well the killer's killer name/alias) in that movie series is Jigsaw.
I’ve heard this theory a few times that Kevin is jigsaw😂 it’s a crazy theory lmao. Kevin doesn’t kill these guys or really try to & i like to go with the other theory that his imagination is just out of this world & he isn’t doing as much damage as he thinks to the burglars as we see it

We need the Jigsaw prequel
That or just edit alone in New York to put THAT theme in there once since Kevin goes full Jigsaw there

You just know Marv probably blurted out the fact that they got bested by a child when they got to prison…
And idk, if I was a fellow prisoner, my first question would be “why were you trying to get into a house with a strange little boy all alone 🤨” because most thieves don’t want to involve any witnesses, and don’t want to have to escalate to other crimes. So trying to rob a house when you know there’s a little kid in there is super sus
@@jacksont9455Harry was certain Kevin was home alone. Assuming they didn’t leave him there on purpose, my first concern would be that at least one of the adults would be on their way back to watch over him. I swear, this movie was basically: I'm not trapped in here with you. You're trapped in here with me" before it became a meme.
When you're a repressed psychopath but cartoons taught you to only use your powers for good.
Why does that actually sound like a fun premise for a series? A psychopath who knows how to do good, but does it the most unhinged way possible for the bad guys.
Kevin set the traps to non-lethal.
Yeah, because he wanted them to feel the pain of each trap.
Death would have been a release by the time they were finished, but Kevin wanted them to merely wish and beg for a death that would not come.
/s
@@dreamcanvas5321i was finna rant til i saw /s 😂
Kevin is an 8 year old kid that probably mostly watches cartoons.
It wouldn't naturally occur to him that the traps he's setting could easily kill people. He just wants to protect his house.
Kevin really is nuts. Sure, in the first movie he is defending himself from people and, due to phone lines being down, has no way to call the cops. In the second movie, he could just call the cops. Instead, he lures Harry and Marv to an abandoned apartment and uses CLEARLY lethal force against them. Now, as he was in his home in the first movie, he has an excuse but he had absolutely no legal justification to use such methods in the second movie as it wasn't his property and he created the scenario where he used lethal force. All that said, I have a hard time feeling bad for Harry or Marv as they were stealing from people not because they are desperate and need to but because they want to.
Lethal force? Against normal people, sure. But these are the Wet Bandits- Kevin went all out against them the first time, with traps that would have put down anything short of a bear, and they still ended up getting him by the scruff of the neck. Now they're out on the streets on New York, and no one else realizes what menaces they are but Kevin. Sure it might seem like Kevin goes overboard from our perspective, but keep in mind... who wins in the end? Not Kevin- he has to be bailed out by the Pigeon Lady. Even after upgrading his traps to deal with these freakishly tough, borderline-immortal crooks, it's still not enough. Kevin's problem isn't that he went overboard, it's that he didn't go far enough.
I mean, I haven't watched the second movie in a while, but don't they try to kill Kevin in that movie? I get your point though, in that movie he could have easily just avoided the wet bandits.
These guys are clearly near-immortal. Marv tanks 6 bricks from a 3 story building straight to the skull, and a ton of voltage, while Harry turns his head into a firebomb and is barely phased
The phones were down for a bit but they were back up well before the robbery cause Kev was able to order a pizza by himself...
I thibk Kevib was justified in home alone 2 because
1. The sticky bandits chased him and explicitly were trying to kill him
2. Kevin was running from the law due to credit card fraud (most cops wouldn't know but he would assume they knew)
3.Harry and Marv were stealing from a children's hospital
I feel kinda embarrassed that I never realized the cop was one of the burglars 😭
I never noticed that as a kid either. I thought he and Harry just had the same actor...
If they didn't make such a big deal out of his gold tooth I might have missed that too.
I only realised like, way into my teens
I didn't either.
Supposedly, that was a real life thing. It happened in the 70s or the 80s, I think. A guy dressed up as a policeman pretended to be a concerned cop securing the neighbourhood and ensuring that everyone was safe. But when one of the people called the police to make sure that his alarm system was up to code, he thanked them for having given his house a passing grade, and for sending a police officer around to make sure he was safe. "What are you talking about sir? We never sent anybody to your house."
Ironically if they had just given up on catching kevin when he went to the treehouse Harry and Marv could have at the very least go back downstairs and try and funnel the most expensive items out of the house into their van and drive away before the cops showed up. What's Kevin going to do? He doesn't have the strength necessary to outmatch you and you've already made it through the whole house so you know you've made it past all the traps at least in the house. Just cut your losses, take a couple things, and leave before things get even worse. He doesn't have your picture, so he'd have to go off of memory alone which can lead to some inconsistencies. That's what I would have done if I was a stereotypical movie criminal.
Edit: Better yet cause I just thought of this, just don't follow him upstairs and rob the downstairs. If he disappears then you probably know he called the cops and can use that as a way to tell when to leave.
Y'know what, you're absolutely spot on
I mean you just got absolutely humiliated by a little kid, and as a burglar with a reputation to keep you wouldn’t let that slide now would you?
@@daniiii888no one would know though. Assuming they didn’t have any witnesses
@@The_Milk_Man8658 What about, y’know, the little kid? It was a joke anyways lol don’t think too hard about it
They considered that, but the "smart" one was worried about the insane traps the kid might have that they didn't trigger. Quote, "What, and go back through his house of horrors? No way."
It's kind of odd that a story shown to kids involves a set of burgers wanting to kill a child, after the child sets up lethal traps
Like, for the stupidity and funny holiday idea, it's actually a really serious movie when you think about it
I guess that's why it's memorable, those two just go well enough to make a weird combo that's nice to watch
And yes, I left the autocorrect from Burglars to Burgers in, I found it funny

@@Dkgow from what both of u said, it’s a very strong theory that the way Kevin catches those guys in the traps is that yes it happens (almost) but it’s more so Kevin’s outrageous imagination that makes it seems like like the traps are doing this serious damage to marv & harry when in reality it isn’t, which is y they literally don’t die lol😂. Like the scene with the fireplace it’s a regular fireplace that isn’t on but in kevs imagination he sees it as a moth chopping monster moving towards him in which he runs off & starts yelling. that thing about "he could have easily just called the cops" always bugs the hell out of me considering 1. the phone lines were down and he couldn't have called anybody at all in the beginning, and 2. he recognized the burglar as the cop he had seen previously?? obviously he's not gonna trust anybody after that lol
He didn't know Harry was the cop until days later. Also he literally could have, he calls the police during the final act. He could have just called them an hour earlier and Harry and Marv would have been caught, but he chose to rough them up first like a mini John Kramer
Phones were down at the start of the movie but back up well before the robbery. Kevin orders a pizza by himself. Later he phones 911 before heading to the treehouse.
@@marcanthonynolan he would have had no reason to call the cops before he recognized harry, though. everything he was afraid of before seeing harry in the van turned out to be harmless things like the furnace or the neighbor. either way he clearly just didn't want anybody to know he was alone, given the conversation with the grocery store cashier. he wanted to be independent and probably expected that if an adult found out about that he'd be removed from his house.
@@poochy2479 true that he might not call the cops initially cause he's having fun being independent and all and doesn't want the ride to end. Or maybe through kid logic he honestly believes his wish made his family disappear and alerting the cops might get him in trouble.
Once he hears Harry say they are gonna come back around 9 o'clock there might be more pressure to alert the cops. Maybe even call in a anonymous tip about a plumbing van knocking over houses in the neighborhood. But yeah, Kevin's plan to get the burglars pinched at the neighbors place does keep him off the hook. So I can buy that. He probably wouldn't think they could trace the 911 call to his house, if they did that back then.
For me the biggest plot hole in the movie is that he could get the house cleaned and back to normal that night before the next morning when the family showed up. There's no way he got all that tar off those steps that night. Lol
Either way, the idea that he COULD have called the cops IS true, he had the means. He didn't tho cause he had reasons. It's kinda weird the the family wasn't trying to call him repeatedly throughout the time they were in Paris tho. I'd be checking every 15 mins until the lines were back up and then ringing it nonstop until my kid picked up.
But I'm sure movie logic can weave its way out of that too lol
It would be funny if they brough the actor back as a MacGyver detective that foils crimes with traps and ingenuity and perhaps helps children in need or dangerous situations. And every episode a heartfelt message that makes you feel for the situations.
That'd be funny
Did you watch Red One? He should have been the Bounty Hunter on the naughty list instead of Mr Evans. That's all I'm going to say.
As I've heard most people bring up, Kevin knew about Harry and Marv's plan because they obnoxiously said it out in the open the morning prior, so he knew what time they were coming. He could have called the police at any time before he actually did, but he deliberately chose to make Harry and Marv suffer through his chamber of pain first.
Phone lines were down. And he saw Harry as a policeman so he wouldn't trust them.
This is also how goons in Gotham see Damian Wayne.
Atleast damian is a ninja, kevin is just a normal kid
@IAmAlpharius14 man, kids these days.......
I watched this the other day and realized something: after Kevin zip-lined to the treehouse, Harry and Marv could have easily walked out of the house instead of scaling the rope from the attic.
All the traps (that we know of) had already been set, and Harry knocked down the blowtorch by the kitchen door. As long as they paid attention to the tripwire and Micro Machines on the floor, they could have safely walked downstairs and exited through the kitchen.
Marv thought the same thing, and wanted to go back through the house. Harry outsmarted himself (and Marv, as Harry had to do his thinking for him) by assuming that Kevin had even more "surprises" waiting in his "fun house" (as Harry called it) and foolishly following Kevin along the rope...
I actually wouldn’t be surprised if Kevin set up additional traps that he didn’t end up using-hence me saying “that we know of.” I’m sure that’s what Harry was thinking.
But based on what the audience saw, there did appear to be a mostly clear path to escape…especially without Kevin in the house to try and stop them.
I love how you heart every comment, Alot of smaller creators do that like this is >100 comments, Yet you still do it It just shows that you care

This might be a joke (or you might just say that as a defense, who knows)

No wonder he was ecstatic that his family vanished! Family = bullies in his mind, so no family = no bullies.

I'm amazed they haven't made an adult sequel to this film yet. A movie where the burglars are out of prison and seeking revenge. Kevin is an adult but an adult who after going through this so many times it seriously effects him.
Kevin could have a really secure house in the middle of nowhere. Guns and more.
The burglars after spending years in prison come out with more knowledge and hook ups. So they can get things like wifi jammers and guns themselves.
It could be a halfway decent action movie.
Basically the last act of Rambo Last Blood but without someone's heart getting ripped out from his chest.
Or maybe we can keep that as well?
7:04 don't forget the real reason for these criminals headache is that this random family forgot one single child when they went on vacation and he otherwise would not have been alone in that house
The most hilarious part of this is that early on Marv and Harry could've actually just gave up & anonymously called the cops on Kevin and severely gotten him & and family in trouble.😂
If you think about it, if Kevin didn't shoot Harry and the BB gun or kill them with the traps, they would have been nice to him and not all psycho
I love how you're calling Kevin sociopathic, completely overlooking he was protecting his home and they could have left at any point.
penguinz0 reference?
I guess so
When you said _The_ Christmas Classic, I hoped you were just teasing with the title and thumbnail, because _The_ Christmas Classic is Die Hard.
And then a year later, 918 or so miles away in New York they then bump into the same kid for all this to happen again at a different house, how they did not run away screaming at the first sight of him is beyond me
The kids a gosh darn psycho. The burglars are the victims to be honest.
Dont tell anybody but . . .

"I'm not alome in this home with you, you're alone in this home with me."
Now I’m going through all the home alones except home sweet home alone because that gives us both perspectives well enough
Home Alone is the Kidz Bop version of Die Hard
