"never would I have thought that I'd have a youtube channel..." Brad. If you randomly showed me an episode of TrailRecon and said it was a new adventure documentary series on PBS, I'd 100% believe you. Your cinemetography, editing, and visual storytelling are AMAZING. I always look forward to your uploads.
@@TrailRecon No one cared that you "sold off" your 4XE Wrangler. No serious off-roader or overlander is going to buy an electric Jeep. Optimal (Hwy) fuel efficiency range is between 50-55 mph. Love your videos. Subscribed a long time ago.
good people, personable and a veteran having adventures that many of us can only dream of having. We live vicariously though you and your videos. Many thanks for the work and effort to share with us all.
I can vouch for that. My son and I ran into him and his wife while they were on their way home from a trip. I could tell they were tired, and wanted to get home, so we didn't talk too long. But they were still gracious, and spoke with my son and me for a few minutes.
Not a coincidence that the channel took off once Regena came on fulltime. Seriously, you both are genuine and very laid back making this all very enjoyable.
It's no surprise you have over 500K subscribers as you're a very nice guy doing a fantastic job with your videos. You speak very well and are very easy to listen to all day. Congratulations Brad & Regena. Love Regena's cooking. :)
This channel is a huge part of the reason that I got a Jeep in the first place and why I have fell in love with the Jeep community. Huge congrats to you Brad on 500k and looking forward to another 500k going forward!
I live in West Virginia. I bought a 2door stick 2021 in Kellogg, Idaho. Wife and I flew out with a tent and some clothes and took about 7 days driving cross country back home. A few nights sleeping in our seats, and some in a tent. Amazingly comfortable drive, super fun, and probably my happiest memory of my life.
It’s funny, I’ve heard folks say that Jeeps aren’t quiet or comfortable, but I’ve driven across the continent a dozen or more times in the last 30 years, 4 or 5 times already in my 2018 JLU, and I find it an absolutely awesome experience. Interestingly, we just completed our first (7,000+ mile) trip with a 3rd person in our jeep and discovered - much to my surprise - that the back seat is actually roomy and comfortable as well. I think it's a great truck for long-distance travel.
Chief I would like to say I’m surprised that you have 500k subscribers but having met you I am not surprised at all. Thank you for all you do for the off road community. My friend Jeff and I are still honored that you were able to send Jeff the get well message from OE West. Thanks for all the great content and safe travels !!
I bough a new Gladiator. A good friend who is interested in buying one asked me how it drove. I told him it drives like a Jeep…like the Jeep I bought in the 80’s.
The fact that you thank so many people who like and subscribe to your channel is solely your own merit! All your work gives you back what you deserve. Hope more people find your channel, subscribe and enjoy it as much as I do! Keep up what you're doing and I look forward to following you in the future!
One year later, he is selling the 392 to build a gladiator. Haha. Like so many others have said, you helped to get me into a Jeep and I’m thankful for it. I love this community, the lifestyle, and your informative videos-they have given me a lot of inspiration for my build.
I love your channel. We are first time jeep owners from Illinois (land of no trails). We don’t have the ability to travel to overland, but love to live vicariously through your channel while keeping our lifted JL on the pavement. Congrats on 500k.
Firstly, thank you from England and thank you for your service, my son is a current serving Royal Marine Commando, brothers in arms across the pond😘 Secondly, I’m loving Regina now being involved, it’s so nice to see your lady involved, it’s nice to show my missus and get her involved as well, very very inspirational. Thirdly, the content is so family friendly, no swearing or rubbish talk, you and your family come across so well. Congratulations Sir and Madam, you have put your heart and soul into this channel and you deserve every success. Kind regards Tony
Came to the channel a few years ago as I was in the market for either a Wrangler or 4Runner, but have stayed a subscriber b/c of the good people you & your family are.
I drove my jku from Miami, Fl to Flagstaff, AZ. It was a 2 week trip. I had a blast. Plenty of room for 2. Only con… After driving 12-15 hrs per day, hard plastic in the arm rest against my elbows started to have discomfort. Easy fix though, just use pillows to rest your arms.
Been watching your channel on and off and right now watching it I get sad. My regular car has been broken down for 4 months. Watching some Jeep videos reminds me how nice it would be to get out with the local jeep club and have some great fellowship with others but it is just something I will only be able to dream about. I will just keep sitting at home and watching and that will have to be my fellowship
We drove my wife's Rubicon to Arizona and back from Socal and also from our home to Lake Tahoe a few years ago. Not the most comfortable, but loads of fun once we arrived at our destinations. We recently made the same trips in my lifted Lexus GX460 and the comfort is night and day. My GX wins hands down and we can also have loads of fun at our destinations with the GX, except for technical rock crawling. But, and it's a big BUT, 😆 the GX is a V8 and the Rubicon is a V6 so yeah, there's that. ⛽️ We love them both and alternate depending on feel and destination, and duration of trip. Love your content. Keep it up! 👍
Brad the reason that so many like your channel is not just simply the information on it but that I can sit down my family in front of it and enjoy it without worrying about anything inappropriate. Your channel always stirs more curiosity that makes us get into the Jeep and head off into the mountains
Hey Brad...the Captain Here!! Coffee!!! I had to laugh out loud when you mentioned the aroma of your Adventure Blend. The last 3 mornings in a row I found myself with my nose in your bag of coffee just enjoying that special aroma so much. Just standing in the ole kitchen taking it in. Did not do that with my previous choices. Just make it and drink those. So here is the request. I bet there is an interesting story about the development of your coffee. How you came upon the Maple and Bourbon flavor, the packaging, testing testing testing!. Friends and family were your guinea pigs?? How about Marco?? Bet he was part of the test team?? How about a fun video, Coffee One Take, on Coffee Development and the Testing.???.
Honestly your indecision on newer jeeps and curious investigative approach in all your videos has really helped me personally make a decision on a newer jeep gladiator. I also have an 82 scrambler so I was hesitant of the gladiators quality but seeing your videos has really helped. Also the way that you present the trails that you are on and the trips, makes it really easy and fun to follow. Don’t knock yourself too hard; what you attribute as maybe bad has actually helped a LOT of people. As a side note; the gladiator with a standard transmission has preformed much better in a truck capacity than what complaints I have seen from the auto
Congrats on 500,000 subscribers, I have been a long time viewer. Your comments on the 392's trail MPG are very accurate. I was surprised when I did the math and got 2.2 MPG on the Rubicon Trail
The wife and I, back in 2020 took a JLU from Auburn, AL to the Grand Canyon and back, and thoroughly enjoyed it. It was a rental, and it had the 2.0T and we were getting about 20 mpg.
I think a cool video would be for you to find a 4 Runner and owner or some type of overland vehicle that you have not overlanded with. Then swap with them for a short trip. You drive and use their setup. They drive and use your setup. Then you can do a follow up with what they like/hate about a jeep and your setup. Then a follow up with what you like/hate about their setup. Would be a cool point of view fron 2 drivers in rigs/setups they've never used before.
Brad, I have a 4xe and after I use up the battery (30 miles in the summer and 20 or less in the winter) I get 20 on the Interstate and 24 on the secondary roads. Of course that is behaving myself with the throttle. If you spank it, that little 4 banger will gobble gas. BTW, I love your 392 and trailer setup, very cool. I also like that Jeep calls it a 392 (old school nomenclature) rather than a 6.4 liter. Reminiscing; I remember when my parents towed a 32 foot camper, they had a Cadillac Fleetwood Brougham with a 472 ci. (7.7 liter) GM V8 with 830 cfm Rochester carb. It put out 525 ft lbs torque and had rear load leveling air suspension. Ancient tech and when I look back it was quite ugly, however in it's day we thought it was nice.
In addition to front end cameras, I think the JL & JT should put hood locks on the Wrangler. In this day and age, I hesitate to leave my Jeep in a rural parking lot to take a hike. Thanks for all the good information!
I own a ‘19 Wrangler Sport (2 door) with a Bestop Sunrider, and manual transmission. I live in Iowa and the Jeep has been to the California north coast 3 times in two years. It’s my daily driver/farm truck/camping rig, pulling a SylvanSport Go with kayaks/adventure vehicle. It rides like a truck, but I’ve spent 12+ hours behind the wheel with just gas stops multiple times, and emerged without stiffness or soreness. Knowing I can jump off the main road, to the back road, to the trail or the cow path, makes every trip open to possible adventures. Like Brad, I would recommend!
Another great Video! Congrats on the 1/2 Million Subscribers! I'm on my 13th Jeep. A 392 and I love this thing. I use it as my daily driver and every minute is a blastl
Hi Brad, Oorah Senior Chief! Well done. I just sold my Mojave JT and bought a Wrangler Rubicon Unlimited with the Ultra-Recon package. Your endorsement made it easier at the dealership. I am a fellow veteran and a true fan of your channel. OBTW...I follow along and drink coffee with you often. Congrats on 500K subscribers! Cheers, Gary
@@TrailRecon OBTW my Rubicon is a 392 Extreme Recon version...it is ridiculously fun and I cannot start to justify my love of this vehicle. Marco and I are like-minded...smiling all the while. Best vehicle I have ever owned as well. This vehicle will not be sold or traded. I plan to hold onto it.
I'm so happy you said that about the 392. I own a Gator, and I desire more power. I would love a 392 Gladiator so so so much, but if that day never comes I'll be getting the wrangler. Yes my note (High Altitude) is huge, but it's such a fun ride I don't even sweat the note.
I love my daily drive, Mojave. I have owned my cars, mostly sports cars. I don’t take it off road but current road conditions are so bad due to wear and tear and construction everywhere, I no longer worried about bumps, cracked surface or pot holes. This vehicle rides good in long and short drive. Only two things I disliked was mpg and getting in the vehicle.
What people may not know is that you don't really feel the trailer is a hinderance when you have the power of a 392. Having that power on tap just makes things so easy when towing. I am loving outfitting my new power wagon for overlanding using a Kodiak canvas truck tent, drawers in the bed and Icky concepts Molle panels. Working great so far.
Bought a recon Rubicon Wrangler. Absolutely love it. My wife and I sold our 4 runner. We missed our TJ ciunky jeep what an upgrade. Been watching you a long time. Missed a lot but drop in quite often . 👍
I don’t own or drive a Jeep (I’m a full size diesel guy, lol!) but I’ve been subscribed for quite a while and love your content. Gives me lots to think about. Congrats on your tremendous milestone! I’ll bet you end up doubling the followers, or more. 👊😉 Happy Trails!
Me, my wife, and 2 kids take a 1200 mile one way trip from Pittsburgh to Eastern Ok, at least once a year in our 2018 JL, with a soft top, not an LS 460, but not bad at all.
Great subject. I rented 2 Wranglers in Colorado before trading a Gr Cherokee Traihawk For a 22 Rubi XR. Just got back from a 3400 mile trip. No regrets. 2.0 T just works👍👍😎🇺🇸
Just did 1,800 miles in my JLUR XR over Labor Day weekend. Coming from an Audi family, long trips are definitely a challenge in the Jeep. However you do get used to it. It’s all about expectation setting. If you expect a vehicle designed for blue / black trails to track down an interstate at 90 mph with one finger on the steering wheel, well, you’re in for a rude awakening.
Glad you enjoy your 392! I've purchased a new Jeep since 2005 every 2-3 years. My favorite was a late model 2018 JK Rubicon-2dr. but traded in 2021 Jeep Gladiator Rubicon and with all the options. I don't get to to do off roading but with unexpected needs for always requiring hauling loads of supplies and Marylands unexpected snow storms it works great! I recently turned 73 and it drives great and easy to use. If I were a lot younger the 392 would be a dream for me! I drove many Jeeps when I was in the Military as I was a 8 year military Policeman.John
Congrats on 500k Brad. The channel constantly getting better with content and cinematography. You can always tell when somebody is loving what they do. Keep the vids coming bro!! 😁
Thanks for the info on driving the Jeep long distance. We’re leaving in our 2door JL Rubi from SoCal straight to Wisconsin to pick up our new teardrop off road trailer. A 2.5 week trip. I’ll have to remind myself that the ride won’t be too cushy then I won’t be disappointed. 😛 Congrats on the 500k+ subscribers!🎉
Ordered my 23 392 XR can't wait to get it missed yah at the rocky mountain expo. Spoke to Matt and he was talking all about how you like the 392 glad you still like it. Would love more build videos on it!
Congratulations Brad!!! You deserve it!!! My question is a simple one. Do you still have your silver Jeep? You know, the one with the rooftop tent, new axels, and all of the rest! My favorite channel! Enjoy the success! You deserve it!
Congrats on the subscriber count. Been here since close to the beginning and enjoy the content. When you come to Canada, do not exclude a fishing trip in northern SK! Keep the videos coming and say goodbye to the Bronco for me!😂😂. Oh, and thanks Regena for being genuine and bringing another friendly face to the channel. Hopefully we will cross paths on the trails in AZ this winter. Cheers.
I felt like you told me directly in this video to go buy a 392😂. Kristin and I have been talking about it and may need to start seriously thinking about it! Great info, thanks for always adding value! See you soon
Tell Kristin she can totally blame Brad if you end up with a 392! 😂 Brad is headed your way and is excited to see the latest and greatest at Merus. I'm excited for the event in October and finally getting to meet Kristin in person! She was so kind and helpful in sorting out Brad's birthday cake! ☺
I like his variety of vehicles. My only question is what's going on with the Ram Power Wagon? His review on his convinced me to get a Ram truck instead of a Jeep. But always enjoy and appreciate the content he shares. Thanks Brad.
Congrats on 500k subscribers. I'm only 499,976 subscribers behind you. Lol. I'm a faithful fan and truly enjoy your content, videography skills, and the way you just present your channel, people, and travels. Also want to say how much I appreciate your new content with the wife. Regina is very much like my wife and I constantly find myself having conversations with her talking about how your wife makes it looks so easy. Great job!
Terrific video and congratulations on your channel. It's very nice to watch and follow along. I'm going to bust your chops as well about flipping vehicles. :-) Yes, I agree the V8 is a tremendous towing machine. The V6 just can't compare. I have had V8s in a Defender and Hummer H3T alpha that were great to drive. Both with very similar MPG numbers. My current Gladiator would be traded in a flat second if they started putting a V8 in them. But for now it suits my needs and I can drive like a grandpa keeping my 20Mpg (barely) and still have fun. Keep up the terrific work and again Congratulations from a fellow Veteran.
I was also a little disappointed when you sold the 4xe, I was looking forward to a trusted long-term review. But still love the channel and glad the 392 is meeting your needs.
I drove my JKU on 35s from Biloxi MS to SO CAL and back 2Xs (about 4000 miles) We drive the JKU ALL over the US and love it. Just keep it under 80mph LOL
Congrats on the 500 k subscribers ! Saw your Jeep and trailer at the Loveland Overland Expo ,very sweet set up ! Would have been too cool to meet you but missed you ! Awesome channel and watch every vid you put out . Safe travels !
Very well earned Brad, could not think of a better ambassador for doing overlanding the "right" way. I hope and think videos like yours will make overlanding more popular and common here in Europe
Regarding MPG on the trail, I definitely notice a big drop when I engage Off Road Plus. It seems to do more than what is advertised. I notice some burble in the exhaust like my Porsche in sport plus mode. This suggests it’s modifying the fuel trim.
Congrats on 590K!! Maybe for the next Coffee One Take, you can let us know if you’ll be getting the new Grand Cherokee Trailhawk. Regina sure did seem to like it when y’all drove one at Moab. Keep up the good work!!!!
Congrats on 500k. You are the one I chose. Especially on videos like this I find your comment very similar to what I would say. Different vehicle, different +\- similar thoughts and feelings. I drip coffee into a growler, but whiskey maple? Looking forward to trying it.
Another great video from one of just a handful of channels I watch. Congrats on the 500k subscribers but is is a shock really? You make great videos and thank YOU for making them. Its fun to tag along through video, the great trips you go on.
Great video, again! Jake and I enjoyed meeting you in Loveland. 500K subscribers, guess hard work pays off! Great job! We have the 4XE (no 392s were available at the time), which is great for running errands around our small town. We are shopping for a 392. A Jeep isn’t an errand running vehicle (although it’s fun), it’s our family exploration vehicle. All the best exploring this awesome country! Jake says “Hi Mr Brad and Ms Regena”.
I remember you guys! I shared the picture I took of you, Jake, and Brad on one of our Instagram posts...a carousel of Expo. Tell Jake we said hello back! 😄

Congrats on the 500k milestone. I always enjoy your high quality content!!
Very interesting! We’re loving our Rubicon 4xe, but we match the criteria you list.
Brad, You are AWESOME sir, And i LOVE this CHANNEL !!! 500 K !!!!!! WELL Deserved ...
Bought a recon Rubicon Wrangler. Absolutely love it. My wife and I sold our 4 runner. We missed our TJ ciunky jeep what an upgrade. Been watching you a long time. Missed a lot but drop in quite often . 👍
I have never had a channel tell me they have something for me
Those Cyclone lights work REALLY well as a dome light too.
500+k subscribers...well deserved! Congratulations!
Congrats on 1/2 Million subscribers!
Well done!
Congrats on the half million!
90mph will get you pulled over pretty much anywhere anyways! I’m more than happy with going 65-80mph in my 2 door.
I got a rude awakening. I still haven't gotten used to it. Just glad I don't have to daily it.
Nice t shirt Brad....and congratulations on a 1/2..million subscribers..!!
Congrats on 500k Brad. The channel constantly getting better with content and cinematography. You can always tell when somebody is loving what they do. Keep the vids coming bro!! 😁
Thank you!
Congrats on 500k. Well deserved.
Congrats on the 500k+ subscribers!🎉
Ordered my 23 392 XR can't wait to get it missed yah at the rocky mountain expo. Spoke to Matt and he was talking all about how you like the 392 glad you still like it. Would love more build videos on it!
Congratulations Brad!!! You deserve it!!! My question is a simple one. Do you still have your silver Jeep? You know, the one with the rooftop tent, new axels, and all of the rest! My favorite channel! Enjoy the success! You deserve it!
We still have Wallace. He's the OG Jeep that started it all and isn't going anywhere!☺
@@regenakowitz Sweet! I was just wondering. Its been a while since I've seen it. I was begining to wondering about it.
Congrats and thank you for the entertainment and information.
Congratulations on 500K viewers. 🎉 I really love watching your videos.
A huge congratulations on the 500k Brad. I don’t even own a jeep and I’ve been a subscriber for a few years now
Congrats on the subscriber count.
Cheers.
Thank you so much! ☺
I felt like you told me directly in this video to go buy a 392😂. Kristin and I have been talking about it and may need to start seriously thinking about it!
Great info, thanks for always adding value!
See you soon
Tell Kristin she can totally blame Brad if you end up with a 392! 😂
Brad is headed your way and is excited to see the latest and greatest at Merus. I'm excited for the event in October and finally getting to meet Kristin in person! She was so kind and helpful in sorting out Brad's birthday cake! ☺
I feel the same way about my 4xe loving it everyday
I like his variety of vehicles. My only question is what's going on with the Ram Power Wagon? His review on his convinced me to get a Ram truck instead of a Jeep. But always enjoy and appreciate the content he shares. Thanks Brad.
Let’s get it to a million! 💪🏽
We just got a bag of your coffee in a four pack from the guys at got your six at the Keweenaw Overland Adventure Retreat (KOAR)! Can’t wait to try it!
Great job!
Thank you so much! I don't know if I make things look easy...but I am having fun! 😉
God Bless your channel Brad, thanks for the good videos, hope you hit the 10M subs. soon.
Congrats on 0.5Mill! Love your work.
I love the compact space of my wrangler. The interior Is the reason I bought it.
Have a safe and fun trip.
Hi Brad, how is life going?? Hope to see more videos. Love them!!!
Thanks for going through that!
As a coffee snob too, I hear ya. However as a nerd, I've a hard time with F on your shirt since it's incorrect 😉
Patiently waiting for my black 2023 392 XR 😊
Congrats on 590K!! Maybe for the next Coffee One Take, you can let us know if you’ll be getting the new Grand Cherokee Trailhawk. Regina sure did seem to like it when y’all drove one at Moab. Keep up the good work!!!!
Congrats on 500k. You are the one I chose. Especially on videos like this I find your comment very similar to what I would say. Different vehicle, different +\- similar thoughts and feelings.
I drip coffee into a growler, but whiskey maple? Looking forward to trying it.
I'm only surprised you haven't hit 1 Million!
Another great video from one of just a handful of channels I watch. Congrats on the 500k subscribers but is is a shock really? You make great videos and thank YOU for making them. Its fun to tag along through video, the great trips you go on.
I predict this channel will hit 1M subscribers by September 2023 🤙🏽
Congrats on 500K!! Still looking forward to when you take the Cherokee out! ;)
Yep that’s us. I’ll let him know. Safe travels.
