My compliments on the graphics work: Helped both to illustrate how to mix-minus with this device and also (more importantly) to highlight and more fully explain the differences between the USB audio channels in the RP2.
I wish I could like this comment more than once. I totally agree. I'm blown away by the quality of this video! I hope to learn how to produce such excellent content!
Wow! Problem solved! Last year we did an event and we had exactly that problem and I didn't know how to solve it with the Rodecaster What a great video and content. Subscribed and like of course thank you
This is the best explanation ever! Love the effort you put into the video!! Its a breath of fresh air here on youtube from the fast food AI gened crap that we are all subjected to these days
Bravo. This is the first video of your content I've seen. I'm so impressed with the quality of your editing and content I had to comment to let you know. This is fantastic! Liked, subscribed, and notified. Also, I think you might have touched on one of my questions when you were talking about the sub mixes. I just got the RCP2 yesterday. I tried it out on a zoom call with one of my coworkers. I had some background music playing from my cell phone connected via Bluetooth. But the background music was way too loud. I tried turning it down, simple enough, by using the fader mapped to the Bluetooth channel. This worked for me in my headphones. But my coworker told me the cell phone music was still full volume on his end. I'm curious, is this the problem you were describing with the sub mixes? I haven't played around with it enough yet, but I was wondering if I could "fix" this simple by changing one of the settings having to do with "pre/post" faders. But if this is the sub mixes you're talking about, maybe there just isn't a solution yet? By the way, I'm using firmware version 1.0.7 now. Thanks so much for your wonderful video. I look forward to more of your content. If you haven't already, maybe you could post a video how you produce such high quality editing in your videos? I can only imagine how much time and effort you put into this. Outstanding!!
Thank you Elliot!!! Appreciate you taking the time to comment and your kind words. Your issue is not with the lack of submixes (although that would be a solution too) but as you say it must be the pre-fader setting under the Outputs menu. Good idea to make a video about the editing, I have thought about that too, but it’s just so much to tell about the different equipments that I did not yet get to making it.
Hi guys, I am really new into this device, just got it yesterday. Until now I just had for gaming and microphone a Focusrite Scarlett, which was fine. Not doing Streaming yet, but this is what I would like to start. I have to admit, the different routing things is what make it kinda hard for me to get. I followed your video, and although I still need another USB cable (because considering the price that this RRCP2 cost, it was probably too much to ask for adding 2 usb cables), so far I tried things with my microphone, plugged into the first input. I also use this as audio interface for all my stuff, also just listening to music on my PC. In that case, I use my Stereo Monitor Speakers, i plugged into the Main Output. That works fine. And you could say, why would you enable the Microphone when you are using Speakers at the time, and you would be correct. However, shouldnt it be possible to not have to hear myself in the speaker (or headphone) while using the microphone, because thats what I do. I hear myself. Now following your video here, I did changes in the custom mix routing, removed things to see if that keeps my from hearing myself in the speaker or headphone. And so far i have not exceeded. Is it not possible to not hear myself with the microphone, and if, what mix I would have to do in order to make that work. On the Focusrite Scarlett that was done with a simple setting in the software, however this here atm is still very confusing to me. I havent understood it all yet. Any help would be greatly appreciated. ;)
Hi, the speakers are muted as soon as a mic input channel‘s fader is up. You can switch it off, but then your speakers will bleed into the mic resulting in a feedback loop. You were right to try to stop the mic channel being routed out through the main monitor outs, but unfortunately, at this moment, you cannot create custom routing for the physical outputs (only for the digital ones: USB1, USB1 Chat, USB2 and Bluetooth). Once Røde adds this feature - as they have alluded to back in August - then you could go into the outputs routing, and make a custom routing for the main monitor outs. For now, you can‘t do it.
💥❤Breaking down the seemingly complex interface actions into an easy to grasp and understand path concept, helps those of us struggling to warp our meager little heads around, HUGE THANK YOU! You have shared SO much value in just this one video I hope YT recognizes that monetizes you back accordingly.
I just bought rodeprocaster2. Im super beginner and was wondering if you will ever do live for all of us to set it up, to understand the device better and how to maximise it. 😑🙏
Hello! Phenomenal movie. Thank you very much for convincing me to buy this device. Can I count on your hints and tips if I have problems with the configuration?
Hi, thank you, and although my goal was not to convince people to buy it, sure, if you have a question, do not hesitate to post a question here in the comments - either me or the community will surely be able to help you.
Thanks! To route a microphone and the soundpads into a Zoom call, I would simply set “Rødecaster Pro II Chat” as Zoom’s audio input and output and then all sounds (apart from the other side of the Zoom call) will be sent into the call, including smart pads.
I'm trying to hook up my phone (iPhone) to USB2, laptop on USB1. I want to be able to output music to a Teams meeting from USB2 so that they can hear the music, and can't seem to get the routing working. Any ideas?
These apps do sometimes act weird. Try to press the share button in Teams (never mind that you are not about to share anything) and click on „include computer audio“ at the top of the share menu, see if it works that way.
Hello. I have a question. I use RCP2 for online radio station and for master output i need disable procesing. Question is, how can i control volume for output ?
Hi, I don‘t think you can disable processing for the master output (unless you are using USB1 Main in Multitrack for this purpose, there you can under Manu|Outputs|Multitrack /USB). The Main Monitor outputs you can only Auto-Mute, create a submix for or have them output a fixed line level signal, but I think they are all processed.

Hello, thanks for your videos they are great. I would like to know if you can help me. How can I do so that my 4 headphones can listen to the usb1 output without duplicating the audio from the microphones or the pads, etc. . I just tried to select channel usb1 in routing and uncheck mic 1/2/3/4 but there is some latency that makes me hear late. It is very important to me that a configuration can be done on the earphone 2 / 3 / 4 since the one has its own listening button. From already thank you very much for your time. Sorry for my english, greetings from Argentina
Hi, that‘s not advised as you should not only make a sibmix for thise headphones that only has USB 1 in there but you also need to create a submix for USB1 and take out your mic from there - but then noone else on USB1 will hear you.
Hi I'm a streamer on Twitch. Is it be able to do virtual channel routing so I can assign them to OBS. I like to have independent control of system sounds, Spotify, stream notifications sounds, game audio, Web browser audio. Currently I use virtual cables to do ALL the above. Will the Procaster cater for all of that?
Please keep doing these amazing videos,,, the visual graphics you create help so much when explaining the details..... Best Rodecaster Pro ll Information on YT
I have a serious???? Can you connect 2 pros together for more I/o like they do in recording studios with they consoles. Like making a 40 channel to an 80 channel board. And if so do this super charge your road caster
This video is amazing. Thank you for breaking down all the functionalities for both auditory processors as well as visual processors. You make it very clear and easy to understand!
Hahahaha not gonna lie. The moment he dropped mix minus and the angels from heaven. I had that epiphany lmfao. That’s what mix minus means! Your amazing for us simple minded non sound gurus lol
Dude, this is one of the best explanations of this… outstanding! May I ask who does your video editing? They are very good, are they available to hire?
My goodness, after over an hour of searching for the answer how to get rid of this echo on my virtual guest's audio, I have found the right answer from you. What a great video! Thank you so much! Subscribed!
I agree with @homesick mac - You are absolutely killing it for us. This is one of the best videos I have seen on this topic. I have the RCP II and I have just used the chat feature to remove the mix minus. I haven't done any additional routing. But I will later on.
You're a great explainer - the best i've heard so far...However i'm STILL slightly confused: When you take out a channel to create the mix minus: that MINUS channel is EXCLUDED from the output mix. However, you still want that channel recorded in the total recording - therefore my question is, when you take out the voice of the participant in Zoom, for example, so he can't hear himself through his headphones or speakers, ie he has been excluded from OUTPUT MIX, how is his voice being RECORDED in the final mix - does mix minus just extract the audio from the monitoring, not the recording?
Hi, thanks! You got it perfectly, this is exactly how it works. The mix-minus just takes the channel out from the specific outgoing mix, but it will still be recorded to the sd-card. A word of caution: if you are recording via USB into a DAW and not to the SD-card, then avoud setting up RCP2 Main Multitrack with mix-minus, as then your USB multitrack recording will most likely have that channel excluded.
Amazing video I do indeed need help though, very confused at the moment. My goal is to achieve a stereo mix using ECAMM LIVE. I understand that in Ecamm live in order to get stereo I have to check mark input 1 and 2 in audio preferences. BUT will the rodecaster be recognized as input 1 and 2 in Ecamm by just simply plugging up the rode caster to my laptop into USB 1 ? if I run 4 things into the rode caster pro will Ecamm automatically pick it up stereo because of the simple fact the rode caster usb 1 input feature? please help thank you :)
Question (Loved this, thank you - total newbie here) - I haven't seen anyone do a video on this yet that I could find. Options for Using the RODE GO II Wireless system with the RODECaster Pro II, I think I've figured out how to do it via an analog input, but I think it could be done with a USB input. This video was so helpful. A thank$ is inbound :)
You can‘t yet do it via the USB input (unless you connect a computer via USB and plug the WGoII into that and set it as the system input). But - this feature is coming soon. (USB mic connectivity) along with many more - look out for my next video. :)
Saludos Amigo Meister! any Idea when rode will come up with the updated for headphones mix minus i'm having a hard time trying to do remote recordings using Opal from Comrex , gracias .
Amazing work. I finally understand this device & how I can use it in my workflow. Currently use WaveXLR & Streamdeck + on my MacBook & PS5. But need more control.
I'm using Streamyard on the (RCP2) USB Chat setting, I'm in the UK. I'm the host of a podcast and my co-host in the US seems to cancel me out when we speak at the same time. We are both using Sure sm7b and RCP2s. Do you have any suggestions as to how i can stop this happening?
GOSH I'VE BEEN SEACHING FOR THIS FOR AT LEAST 9 HOURS IN THE PAST 3 DAYS COULDN'T GET WHY MY PC IS RECORDING MY MICS AND THE COMPUTER'S SOUND AS WELL ALL BECAUSE OF THE MISMATCHED ROUTING IN MY Caster pro 2 THANKS MAN BUT IT WAS SINCERELY HARD TO FIND THE FING WORD TO SEARCH FOR IT THANKS A LOT MAN LIKED AND SUBBED!!!!!` and hats off to the detailing and editing of this video!
Great job. Thanks!!.. I finally got one.. familiar with audio interfaces, can't get the Bluetooth connected phone (tried different phones) to pick up much signal from the RCP2, the audio going to the caller. Very faint, even the sound effects get out to caller, but faint. Have latest firmware, phone audio plays music great. Recording to micro storage produces great output sound from my mic and sound effects at the RPC2, but very little sound volume sent to caller using BT, almost inaudible, but there is some sound. So caller gets almost no audio out of the RPC2. Tried every imaginable routing for BT, tried different BT settings at phone, multiple phones/brands etc. My setup at RCP2 is only wall/power supply plugged in, Wifi connected and the BT connected to smartphones with no USB connection to computer. I noticed the monitor icon on the RPC2 was yellow slashed out, figured that's because I have no monitors attached. Anyone have any ideas? Faint output sent to smartphone caller via BT from RCP2 is the issue. Have support issue opened for a while, but thought someone may shed some light.. thanks!!!
Thanks for a great and informative video. Maybe you can help me stop the delay when broadcasting live on RP2 to Mixcloud. If the signal comes out live with both sound and image, then it is delayed by a few milliseconds, and when sitting with the headset on, it can drive you crazy. Think you can solve via RP2, or do you have to adjust something in OBS? Thank you in advance for your help.
Is there a way for me to do the following: Have my Sonos Ray connected to my CalDigit TS3 via optic cable. Have my system sound play out of my Sonos ray. Have people on discord hear my system sound, so when I play spotify, they can hear my spotify, while spotify still plays on my Sonos ray. Have my mic plugged into my rodecaster duo.
Good day, I just got my RCP2 and i am using it for live streaming and the sound(voice)that im hearing on my head phone is different from my my output sound on my live stream when i am singing how do i fix it? Thank you
HI I hope you can help me with USB routing on the RCP2? I am using it for a MS Teams meeting in conjunction with an Atem for Cameras. The RCP2 is connected to the Teams Macbook via USB1 MS Teams Macbook connected via HDMI to large TV (so the presenters can see the meeting) Settings in MS Teams are as follows Camera - Atem Speaker - Large TV (audio via HDMI from Macbook) Microphone - RCP2 Main Multitrack I have 2 x Rode Wireless Pro mics connected to the RCP2 for my presenters, but do not want there audio coming out of the TV speakers. Any help much appreciated.
Thanks! I‘d suggest connecting your computer running Streamyard to the USB1 port and set „Rødecaster Pro II Chat“ as Streamyard‘s audio input and output. Just don‘t forget to set one of the faders (physical or virtual) to USB1 Chat.
Thank you for the clear explanation! There is one issue that I can fix yet.. I connected a iPhone through bluetooth, to record a call into a podcast. In the custom output mix, I had eventually basically "minused" all channels, but the person on the other end of the line could still hear an echo of his voice.. Do you have an idea how I could fix this?
Hi, if the bluetooth channel was also „minused“ from the bluetooth output (which you can see how it looks like when you select mix-minus instead of custom), then there should not be any echo. I can only think of one option, if you were listening to the call via the monitor speakers, they could eventually bleed back into your mic, and then I would suggest you to use headphones instead. If that was not the case, Unfortunately I have no idea why this has happend.
@@PodcastMeister thank you for your swift response! I was listening through headphones, so that was OK.. I’ll just keep digging deeper. First attempt: connect iPhone with cable instead of bluetooth.. we’ll get there eventually :)
Thanks for this video... We used custom mix minus for usb 1 today and it greatly improved the Audio quality with our streamyard cloud recordings..... I still need to adjust my recording levels on the SD card... But your channel is very helpful with this.... It' just requires time and experimenting with the RCP2 to get more functionality out of it..... Going to subscribe to this channel!! Russell Paranoid America podcast!
Guys. I am stuck with a problem. I have all my sounds except MIC on my USB 1, in OBS it works well as Main Desktop Sound, but when I low it's volume using fader on Rodcaster it still remains in OBS. So the question is, can I control USB 1 sound using fader for OBS? P.S. To make it clear fader just lowers sound in me headphones and it does not do it in OBS.
Amazing channel! I am glad I discovered your channel, where have you been all my life? The efforts that you put in your videos are just mind blowing. Thank you, I am learning many things from your channel! For example I had no idea about this 'mix-minus' thing before i saw you. I have one question, me and my brother live in two different countries and we are planning to start an audio/video podcast remotely but we don't want it to recored on zoom or skype or any of those online services. He has a rode procaster 2 but I have only Zoom F6 and SSL2. How do we set this up, or which interface/mixing should I buy? Again, thank you for all the knowledge you share with us!

Impressive explanation. Thank you
Excellent explanation. Thank you my friend
This video was so good wow
Another excellent, clear, to-the-point, and easy-to-understand video! Thank you very much.
I just subscribed to your channel, I love your layout and how smooth you are on the mic! Thank you for your help and outstanding video!
This is a brilliant video! Thank you so much!
Saludos Amigo Meister! any Idea when rode will come up with the updated for headphones mix minus i'm having a hard time trying to do remote recordings using Opal from Comrex , gracias .
No idea about the timeline unfortunately, but it is clearly on the roadmap. Or Rødemap. (Sorry) :)
Great explanation! Many thanks!
Thanks for the ‘visuals.’
Can I custom route the outputs on each individual headphones outputs? Like one headphones have desktop audio and one doesn’t?
Not yet, that is something Røde is still working on, but once ready and released, than that‘s exactly what you will be able to do.
Clear and precise. great video
What’s the link to update release notes version 1.0.7?
I have .7 and have no idea what was improved or changed.

@@PodcastMeister thanks!
Brilliant video! A lot of work! Thanks you!
Glad you enjoyed it!
Hands Down BEST Video Explaining this feature on the RodeCaster Pro II
Amazing work. I finally understand this device & how I can use it in my workflow. Currently use WaveXLR & Streamdeck + on my MacBook & PS5. But need more control.
I'm using Streamyard on the (RCP2) USB Chat setting, I'm in the UK. I'm the host of a podcast and my co-host in the US seems to cancel me out when we speak at the same time. We are both using Sure sm7b and RCP2s. Do you have any suggestions as to how i can stop this happening?
GOSH I'VE BEEN SEACHING FOR THIS FOR AT LEAST 9 HOURS IN THE PAST 3 DAYS COULDN'T GET WHY MY PC IS RECORDING MY MICS AND THE COMPUTER'S SOUND AS WELL ALL BECAUSE OF THE MISMATCHED ROUTING IN MY Caster pro 2 THANKS MAN BUT IT WAS SINCERELY HARD TO FIND THE FING WORD TO SEARCH FOR IT
THANKS A LOT MAN
LIKED AND SUBBED!!!!!`
and hats off to the detailing and editing of this video!
Great job. Have support issue opened for a while, but thought someone may shed some light.. thanks!!!
Can I hook up my rcp 1 to the rcp 2 duo for more mic inputs?
Thanks for a great and informative video.
Maybe you can help me stop the delay when broadcasting live on RP2 to Mixcloud. If the signal comes out live with both sound and image, then it is delayed by a few milliseconds, and when sitting with the headset on, it can drive you crazy.
Think you can solve via RP2, or do you have to adjust something in OBS?
Thank you in advance for your help.
I love the way you explain things to make it easy to understand. This is my third time visiting your channel today. SUBSCRIBED! & I Hit The Bell!
Is there a way for me to do the following:
Have my Sonos Ray connected to my CalDigit TS3 via optic cable.
Thank you
Great vid, really helpful.
HI I hope you can help me with USB routing on the RCP2? I am using it for a MS Teams meeting in conjunction with an Atem for Cameras.
The RCP2 is connected to the Teams Macbook via USB1
MS Teams Macbook connected via HDMI to large TV (so the presenters can see the meeting)
Settings in MS Teams are as follows
Camera - Atem
Speaker - Large TV (audio via HDMI from Macbook)
Microphone - RCP2 Main Multitrack
I have 2 x Rode Wireless Pro mics connected to the RCP2 for my presenters, but do not want there audio coming out of the TV speakers.
Any help much appreciated.
Excellent video. What would be the best option if I transmit via streamyard and also receive calls in my transmission?
Thanks! I‘d suggest connecting your computer running Streamyard to the USB1 port and set „Rødecaster Pro II Chat“ as Streamyard‘s audio input and output. Just don‘t forget to set one of the faders (physical or virtual) to USB1 Chat.
Thank you! Your illustrations are next level and very helpful! The custom mix-minus makes it so much easier as well!
Very good and clear explanations. And good graphics too !
Mix-minus well explained
Excellent, excellent, excellent.

Paranoid America podcast!
THIS video was amazing! Thanks for sharing. It was well done and made a complex explanation significantly easier to follow with visuals.
Best explanation of MIX-MINUS on Earth!!! AWESOME! Thank you
Amazing channel!
Awesome video I think I’m finally getting somewhere. Trying to play music in VRCHAT via PC airlink and Oculus Quest 2. Plus I’m normally a Mac but Macs don’t game so windows it is..if you have any suggestions for that setup I’d be incredibly greatful. I can here me and the music currently but no one else in game can. Haven’t tried USB 1 chat yet though and now I understand what that does so I think I’ll try that next. Thanks again.
Thanks for a great explanation!
