Thank you! I’m glad you appreciate the longer form stuff in a world seemingly moving to ultra short form! Maybe I should break this video down into 60 shorts!😂
Hey there, really good video. I don't own a Rodecaster at all, but it still helped me a lot with my Boss Gigcaster. I really wish, there was a Video with the same value for my gadget as well. And only if it was to show all the weaknesses Boss could fix with more or less simple software updates. Long story short, justed wanted to say "thank you"!
Great video, thanks. You’re right, those things need reminding sometimes. So many features, that we even forget what we can do at times. About muting everything else with one button, and keep only the principal mic open, I think the ducking effect on the smart pads does it, if I understood well the use case
Hi Rode, I wanted to use Rode Caster Duo to record a voice on a music track, place the music in a pad space, microphone on channel 1 and activate the recording button. it worked! The problem? If you're wrong and you want to start recording again, the music in the pad doesn't come back to the beginning until the music runs out. Rode should have enabled a double click on the pad so that music can be returned at first. thank you!
Hi Alec, great video as always, quick question, when I switch of the mic routing to the speakers, I don't hear myself through them anymore, but no mic output is coming through Zoom or ecamm, any thoughts?
I have a weird issue. I'm sing Rodecaster Duo and Ecamm live. I have set mix minus on Main, Chat and secondary (not using secondary at all). In Ecamm live sound levels, both Main Stereo and Duo chat Mics shows up. The problem I have have is that my interview guest sounds good when we talk, but the recording gives an echo if I share the screen with audio from the browser. A workaround I have done now is to manually disable Duo chat mic in Ecamm live sound levels. I have set Duo chat in MacOS sounds input, output, and sound effects. And I have Main Stereo in Ecamm live. And if I change in Ecamm live to Duo Chat, echo comes back. It seems to be working now, but it just seems like I have done something wrong. I apologize if I have not explained the issue properly. It is just so confusing to me. Thanks for a very educational video!
Thanks very much for doing this video it’s very helpful. May I ask when I’m using the Bluetooth in a X space used to be Twitter. Audio can be heard in the space. Although when people speak to me it echoes. Mix minus cuts them out completely. Would you have any tips to fix this ?
Hi. I’m facing some issues. I’m sending tiktok live and when i (sometimes) playing music from my computer is delaying one or two seconds difference. My mic voice com little late. Any idea why is that and solution? Thank you
This is so INFORMATIVE!!! My problem tho is whenever i go live streaming on facebook using my phone…. And i have a music background playing on my computer and I let a guess online join me. I lose the effects or my microphone. It’s like rode caster is not working at all! Pls help 🥲 plus with latency issue. I can do live singing performance 🥲 im starting to be frustrated
When I use the smart pads for intro music the quality is significantly impacted. The miicrophone sounds "Tinny" and the intro music also sounds low and poor quality. Do you have any ideas? Seems like a routing issues.
Hello, thanks for this excellent video, i bet we all have issues with this software and this help a lot. Here is one. I have an issue with the Streamer X on Mac: i use Teams set on Unify Chat (Speaker and Mic). I cannot send sounds from the Pad (eg : Applause) into teams conversation (Voice effects works). I've tried bunch of settings without results.. Can you please help ? Main audio choice in Teams is Rode Unify chat (other choice can be Rode Connect System), Speaker and Mic choice in Teams are Rode Unify Chat Virtual (other choice can be Rode Connect System, Rode Connect Virtual, Rode Unify Virtual, ...).
Really infomative deep dive into Mix Minus, it's helped make the subject a lot simpler to understand - only owned the RodeCaster Duo for a week. I'm finding most RUclips tutorials concentrate on Zoom and ECAMM, occassionally Skype, Meetings and Discord gets a mention, but can't find anything about WhatsApp or Whatsapp Desktop App. I've got WhatsApp to work through the RodeCaster Duo on the phone using bluetooth (just audio), simple enough... but would like to route audio using the Desktop app too. Is it possible? Second question, is it possible to use ECAMM video (Canon R6) with the Rodcaster Duo audio for Whatsapp Desktop video calls? Many thanks.
I have an issue related to the smart pad on the Rodecaster pro 2, I have added a poem on that pad that I will need to use from time to time on my podcast, however after I recorded that into my adobe Audition on my desktop, and then play it back the sound was bouncing up an down as if there is an effect running in the background (e.g. Noise gate) although it's not the case, why is that happening, does it have to do with the signal/sound rate on both the RCP and Audition or what?
The way you explained mix-minus makes no sense. If the microphone is an input to the Rodecaster Duo, then the RD processes the audio, then eliminates it from the output channel that Zoom is configured to use as its input (which is coming from the Rodecaster Duo), then how do the recipients on the Zoom call hear the microphone input out of the Rodecaster Duo? I'm confused.
Still learning the nuances of this myself, but my understanding is that Mix Minus would send everything from the main mix (including the audio from your mic) out through Zoom so your caller can hear you, your music, etc, but would not feed their own audio back to them. What I’m still unclear about is what happens with multiple callers and how would you enable them to hear each other if the RD is treating all Zoom input as one stream.
I really didnt get anything out of this video - you spend half the video on that chart with all the routing, but you didn't actually show much as to how to actually do the routing. I have a sonos ray, with a caldigit ts3. The ray is connected with the optical cable to the caldigit. How do I get people in a discord voice chat, to hear my system sound, while I still get to hear my system sound from my sonos ray? In short, I want the people in the discord voice chat to be able to hear the music I play on spotify, while also being able to hear spotify on the sonos ray myself.
Very appreciative of this in my algorithm, liking commenting and subscribing!
I'm glad this is a 1 hour + Tutorial. Too many videos are 15 minutes or less.

Good video, a tip from an audio engineer, set your gate, it's now cutting audibly! Thx for the channel and all the info..
Thank you, Billy Zane
You’re welcome! 🙏😊
Thank you for this video! Very helpful!!
You’re welcome! Glad it was helpful 🙏😊
Love your videos Alec! Thanks for going through this in detail 🙂
this my first time to your channel …..awesome video and information
Welcome! Glad you found the video useful :-)
Very informative and certainly will be checking out other videos!
Thanks for the detailed matrix of the audio channel routing and settings to help avoid slapback

Great explanation, thanks for that.

Excellent. Thank you!!
Does any of the routing apply to the RCP1 model as well?
That was my question....I am feeling left out 🙂
Obviously twas a nice review.. thanks

It does. Change the play mode so when you press the pad, it starts again without having to finish the music.
Good stuff. Thank you.

Is there any way to set it up your audio for the head sets a 5.1 ? or surround Sound? or i need to buy a external sound card?

I cannot get my smart pads to play through Discord why is that ?

Is rode caster can be used on stage for live event (2 mics, and 4 big speaker) without PC.

Why do you use Main Channel vs Chat Channel?
what is ecamm? I am assuming that is a software similar to Rode Central(?)
oh yeah it is, but much much more robust. answered my own question

Does anyone know if there is a way to EQ the master output. ? Im hoping it has a multiband EQ on the master output.
finally someone that can pronounce "Routing" correctly
My issue is I can’t get the iPhone 15 Pro Max to work via usb-c with it
why is the audio pulsing? adjust the gate :)
Thanks!

You may have to change your shirt to Take Two. 2:22 - 3:22. ha
😂🤣
