Just a heads up/reminder that there are a lot of spam bots pretending that you might have won a contest. Definitely ignore those- there is no contest and you definitely don't want to reply to them.
now I got it. Thank you so much Tom. I got my Rodecaster 2 today and used as Output on my PC "USB 1". And then I wondered why everyone was hearing an echo in the Conference. Instead of USB 1, I had to select USB 1 Chat. This is a small detail that many newbies on the Rodecater will miss at the beginning. Your video helped me to locate the root cause for my problem.
Every time I see a video about the Rodecaster Pro II, I feel so proud of my first generation unit. To me, the number one reason to buy the Rodecaster was its simplicity. With the second generation, I feel we need a Masters Degree to operate it. Tom, thanks for your fantastic videos.
Although I'm having issues with what is covered in this video, it is super intuitive and easy to use. Very much a plugin and play system. The added complexity takes a minor learning curve but very worth it for the powers it gives you.
I'm so grateful for this update! It was funny seeing videos about firmware 1.0.7 coming out today and thinking, "Isn't this old news?" before remembering I was on the beta program lol. This is a significant update and almost exactly replicates my previous setup of a TASCAM Mixcast 4 and GoXLR, only without needing to unplug and re-plug in my microphone or swap audio devices
Haha, yeah the beta program is awesome! I wanted to cover this in a video before, but figured it was best to wait for the official release in case they changed anything.
🤯 I would love to see a video in a real case scenario. I think this would explain better visually. I can’t think right now, lol. Oh, congrats on your 100k!
Thanks for the kind words! The truth is, there's an almost infinite number of scenarios and this update just puts all the tools you need in the toolbox. So pretty much no matter what the situation you can be like, "I can figure this out!."
The mix minus on my rcp 1 is possibly my favorite feature. I run a podcast (not a host) that has guests and two on site hosts. it is amazing to have the two hosts and a guest on zoom and everyone hears everyone like they are in the same room and it’s recorded on the rodecaster at the same time as Logic Pro, all while I monitor also on the rodecaster. Pure magic given what I used to have to do with an analog desk.
It's so incredibly helpful! You bring up a good point about analog decks too- I hear a lot of nitpicks and complaints about the RCP, but I sometimes think those people either forget or aren't aware of what things were like even just a few years ago.
Channel 1 to master bus and subgroup 1, channel 2 to master bus and subgroup 1, interface to channel 3, channel 3 to master bus only, subgroup 1 out to audio interface, direct outs to multitrack recorder, master bus to multi track and headphone distribution amp, rack patched compressor, de-esser, limiter and gate, patched to auxs. Or: A rodecaster pro I or II
Another great video. I mostly use the RCP II For guests talking through zencastr. So I don't think I need to dive too deep into Mix Minus and all these different USB settings. Having said that, it never hurts to watch every one of these videos just in case I ever need the knowledge!
Hey Tom! Thanks to the almighty algorithm I found your channel and have been binging your content all day!! You have the trifecta my friend, THE highest quality content, super informative applicable info…AND…the jokes…😂 Dad jokes rule!! I’ve been so excited to start a podcast with my dad and my kids, 3 gen of gamers! This channel is invaluable!!!🙏
Once again, Tom Buck to the rescue. I had this working and then lost it. I started trying to mix minus USB 2's output from USB 2, instead of USB 1. I watched this a couple of times and even slowed it down to 80% speed, or so, and then I woke up LOL. Thank you cusTom :) :) :)
Excellent explanation. I think where Rode has goofed is that the concepts/interface are not intuitive for the average Joe (or Scott, in my case). I love your content and learn a lot from you and others, but I shouldn't have to watch 8 videos just to figure out how to configure my RCP2. Also, naming some of the USB channels as "CHAT" have confused things, IMO. Keep up the good work! Hopefully some of this feedback has gotten back up to Rode!
I think there's a balance. The RCP with all of the advanced settings turned off is pretty simple, but it is a hugely advanced thing and so a learning curve is a bit inevitable. I definitely agree with the USB naming. I really don't know why they still have these names rather than just "USB 1, 2, and 3" or something like that since you can configure them in a way where there's really no difference.
Tom I don't have an answer to this qiestiomnj. I know I can split DJI on the ATEM Control Software but IK don't own the RODE LAV II: Viewer Asked me : I" looked on the web but did not find an answer: can I split the incoming stereo signal into two channels on Rodecaster pro, meaning using Rode Wireless Go II (or alternatively DJI Mic) but having each microphone on one fader (mono of course)? Kind of virtual patching. Is that possible? Thank you!"
I'm honestly not sure, since I also don't have the Go II (just the original). Right now the RCP2 doesn't take USB inputs, so they'd have to use either an XLR or 1/4" adapter. I think it could be possible to use a y-cable that has a 3.5mm connection on one side and then L/R 1/4" connectors on the other and run that into two separate channels. Just a theory though, I haven't tried it myself. 🤷🏻♂️
It really depends (unsatisfying answer, I know). The new RCP is better, but if the original is suiting your needs, then there's really no need to upgrade. I think the biggest reasons to upgrade are: -More clean gain (no more boosters needed) -Better headphone amps -More options for USB mixing/routing There are tons of other features too, but those ones are really what I think have the potential to make the most immediate impact on a workflow.
Every time I watch one of your videos (and I watch them all) not only do I learn a lot and become inspired. You manage to always make me smile and be happy. You are a superstar! I'm thinking about buying the RodeCaster Pro II for my RUclips videos (I currently don't stream) and was curious about what arm you are using. Love the fact you can move it around. Would you recommend the RCP2 purely as an audio interface btw? I guess might do streams down the line...
If I’m using the rcp with streamyard and I’m playing music from my pc and using Google voice from a browser what should my mix minus settings be? I want the callers/guests to be able to hear any background music playing and sound effects.
If it works it works, and you probably don't need to change anything. But it could be worth experimenting with mix minus just to see if it improves anything either for you or the caller.

Hello Tom! Nice video as always! I have noticed a disturbing phenomena. I had to disable the MIDI function in my ATEM Software Control software, because it made glitches to the sound of my Rodecaster Pro II if it was turned on. Windows 10, latest (and previous) ATEM Software and all avaliable Rodecaster Pro II firmware. Turning off MIDI in the ATEM Softwate solved the problem. Interesting.
Hey Tom! Thanks for the great content! I have a quick question if you have the time. Have you tried using shotgun mics with the rodecaster 2? I used to use my senheiser MKE600 with my roadcaster 1 but with the RCP2 Im having trouble getting sound out of the mic. I don't see a way to turn on and off phantom power if that could be the issue. Thanks for all your help and many many puns! lol
Hey Mike! I've been using showing mics with the RCP 2 a ton (mainly the Sennheiser MKH50). You can press the colored button above the mic's channel to go into that channel's settings and towards the bottom of the screen you'll see the on/off option for phantom power. 👍
First of all…your videos are amazing. So my question is if I’m on Ecamm and want to have a Zoom or Clubhouse audience would you plug a phone or iPad into USB2 and use the custom feature to bring in my microphone so I can talk to the audience on both Ecamm and the Zoom or Clubhouse audience?
Thanks for the kind words Miguel! What you suggested is what I would do (and have done in the past). An iPad will work with a standard USB C cable, but be sure to use Rode's SC19 cable if working with an iPhone. 👍
Hey :) thanks for the video! We wanted to use it in the stream with speakers, but just can't get rid of the feedback from the mics. (Rode mics) Also, you can hear our voice in the speakers, which we don't want. Do you have a suggestion for a solution? Is there a setting that we are overlooking? We had a Behringer mixer before, there were no problems. Thank you and best regards
Thanks! So ... how do I add a delay to a call-in channel type situation so i can hit the beep button quickly enough to save my channel a strike? Ideally, I could add a 1 second delay to the output on USB 1 of the input from USB 2, without hearing the delay myself. Any such functionality, extant or planned, that your aware of? 🤔
Hi please make a video about voice effect for some reason I can hear my special effect for 15 to 30 min after that never comeback unless I Reset it can be heard
After this comment I realize that I can still heard the voice effect in the secondary head phones but not in the primary head phone... it will be great if you splend why is that and if there any settings to fix it .. thank you very much
As of now, no. But this is honestly an amazing idea. I feel like there's a lot of potential with the two USB ports, and enabling digital pianos/keys/etc to be connected would really be a game changer to musician users.
So my question is: can we route the headphone outputs? And also can we set different volumes for each headphone jack. Currently I have a OBS monitor plugin that sends 2 different audios( in-ears/ viewers audio ) with this I can use the USB 1 channel to split the audio but what about playback. I would like to be able to mute my viewers audio and only use it to monitor what my viewers actually hear from time to time.
Hi, Tom great info. I have an IMAC how would I connect it to the rodecaster pro 2 to use with ZOOM and Ecamm? I noticed the sound effects are not heard by the audience when I use them. Thank you again for all the great videos.
It depends on how you have your mix minus setup (be sure that the Smart Pads aren't being excluded) and then be sure that the volume for the Smart Pad channel is turned up (it can be easy to miss if it's not assigned to one of the physical faders).
Hi Tom. Will selecting USB multitrack 'off' so that only the stereo-output is being send to you computer will influence the mix-minus options? Greetings from The Netherlands!
Nope, those will fortunately stay the same no matter which mode you're in 👍 It mostly has to do with the software that you're running it into- some apps work well with multitrack while others really struggle with it.
Tom: Firstly: Kudos and thank you! Huge fan of your videos! I have a question that Rode hasn't gotten back to me on so I thought I'd ask you. I'm a film/tv composer and am trying to use the Rodecaster Pro 2 with my DAW (Digital Performer) and can't wrap my head around how to playback a stereo mix of a multitrack composition in DP via usb while recording into DP separate audio from the mic channels 1-4. The musicians need to hear themselves in the headphones along with the stereo mix of the music they are being sent from DP while I need to get clean audio from the mic channels into the tracks I have armed going into DP. I'm I crazy to think this is possible?
Hey Peter! I don't think you're crazy (or at least not because of this 😁). In the output settings have you enabled multitrack via USB? I haven't used Digital Performer myself, but this is how I've been able to separate channels with Audition and Logic. As long as your firmware is up to date, then you should be able to create custom mixes for each performer's headphones.
I've used the P-8 but not the L-8. From what I understand it's geared more towards live events/music production and not so much towards spoken word/streaming but I'm not 100% sure.
It's just a generic VESA arm I found on Amazon. Any VESA monitor arm should do this trick. I definitely recommend it, it's super nice to have it mounted this way!
It depends. I'm inclined to say no, but there are so many scenarios where people want to mix and create audio sources that Loopback definitely still has a place.
Total aside to the topic, but what did you use to mount the rode caster on the swing arm? I have the first rode caster, and mounting it like that would be a great help for me.
I can try and think of a few scenarios, but the truth is there's such an infinite number of situations it might be a little tough. The good news is that mix minus is probably good for most of us most of the time. If a situation ever pops up where something strange is happening, then it's nice to know the Custom tab will probably let you solve it.
I can't manage two channels separately in Obs Studio:/ Both of them work on Rode Procaster Pro2 chat channel ?? Should the Multitrack setting for Obs Studio be Pre-Fader?
There are so many variable that honestly I think the best thing to do is try it all! Keep changing settings until it works with your specific setup (I know that's not very precise, but it usually gets the job done).
Does the RCPII have the ability to change the volume of individual applications on your computer and route that mix? For example, I might want a game I'm running to be at normal volume and a music track on chrome turned down to just ambiance.
That’s technically not possible with only one USB channel without virtual audio devices on your computer. But if you select for example the secondary USB channel as audio out in your game and keep Chrome on the main USB channel, you can set the volume independently.
Hi Tom thank you so much I love watching your videos. I have a problem I can't figured out why I can only monitors my headphone with channel 1 and 3 only. I've tried everything I have 3 different headphones that I would love to be able to NOT having to manually disconnect/connect in order for it to work.... All 4 headphones jack should be able to work at that same time when plugged in right? Any suggestions would really be appreciated! Thank you!
Heya! Yes all headphones should be working at the same time. I have three things to try: 1. For headphones 2 & 4, go into the output setting and try switch between high/low sensitivity 2. If that doesn’t help, try resetting the RCP2 3. If that doesn’t help, reach out to Rose support and let them know you tried the above steps. Good luck!
@@tombuck Thank you so much Tom for taking the time to reply with those suggestions I really appreciate it! I've tried all your suggestions and 2-4 still not working so I will definitely have to call support. Thanks again for your help and please keep up the amazing quality and super helpful content! THANK YOU!
Tom, I am not sure you are actually aware of this issue but did this update address the USB 1 connection to a PC? It is incredible unstable when plugged in, and toggles on and off quite frequently, and quite frustrating when livestream.
Does this happen to you when you're not streaming? I'm on a PC, and I haven't noticed this issue, but I also haven't streamed with it yet; I've only used it for Discord and podcasting.
It really is as simple as "the entire mix MINUS a specific channel or channels." I do have a slightly more in depth explanation with the original Rodecaster, but I didn't want to confuse people by linking that here since it's a total different device.
We're having some some problems with the audio coming out of our RCP2 and going into Streamyard. With any audio that goes from the RCP2 into Streamyard there's drop off, any clips played from the pads get muddy, and there is a pop from the microphone from time to time. The audio from guests usually sounds fine and when recording directly from the RCP2 into Adobe Audition the signal is clean. Maybe it's a Mix Minus setting problem? Any advice would be appreciated.
Hey Tom! Do you think the RØDECaster Pro II could be used for live event productions? I have a unique scenario that I would need to be able to have the audio go to a live stream and in person attendees? Usually in person attendees is less than 100, but hopefully can get that to more. I'd like something that can do both, but not just a regular mixer... What would you recommend?
Tom, I have an RCP and I am thinking about getting a RCP 2, but heard things about some kind of delay issue with the headphones out of about 6 MS or so. Have you noticed this to be the case in your experience and if so, what are you thoughts? Thanks for the great video as well. You always do an amazing job!
Thanks for the kind words! I've noticed absolutely nothing like this with mine, and I've been using it everyday since May. To be totally candid, for some reason (and I really don't know why), people WANT to dislike the RCP2. It's why I don't make too many videos on it anymore- I've never really seen so many people searching for reasons to dislike something. It's absolutely bizarre. On a more practical note, the original RCP is still widely capable too. There are definite advantages to the upgrade, but it's definitely not required.
@@tombuck - Thanks for the quick reply and additional info about that. I originally heard about the delay on Curtis Judd's channel. At first he said he thought it was 100 ms and then after more testing and troubleshooting said it was 6ms. He said it was another device making it at 100, but that there was still a small delay and some of his other posts said it was that way in their experience. I was hoping a firmware fixed it if there was an issue or maybe some one offs or whatever, so I wanted to get your insight on all of this which I appreciate you doing (as I love how you do your best to answer everyone's questions...as we know it can take a lot of time sometimes). Weird why people would be hating on RCP2. Rode has decent produts and their tech support / customer service is solid. You are definitely one of my favorite RUclipsrs on audio / video stuff and I am always amazed at the level of detail and time you put into your videos. Very appreciated! Also, I love and do Dad jokes all the time as well, so how can I not like your channel? :).
Just picked up an RCP2 and discovered your channel, fantastic stuff! I'm trying to remove the channel 1 mic input from the "monitor mix" but leave it in the usb 1 "main mix" (to avoid feedback when monitoring with speakers). I'm not sure if this is possible since the mix-minus options don't include the monitor outputs 🤔 In any case, thanks for such terrific videos! I'm learning a ton from your channel.
I think I figured out a solution from another of your videos. I'm using the channel 1 headphone output to go to the monitors rather than using L\R monitor outs. Then using the 'listen' buttons on every channel _except_ for channel 1. Seems to work, cheers!
That's usually a mix minus issue. The RCP2 can seem a little confusing, but if you just double check that the other person's channel has mix minus turned on you should be ok. If that doesn't work, you can use custom routing to select only the specific channels you want that person to hear.
Hey Tom, excellent content. Yours was one of the few video walkthroughs of the RCP2 that got me stoked enough to pull the trigger on one. Currently plan on using it for my podcast and livestream so its taking place of a goxlr mini and a zoom podtrak p4. My main question is, is there any way to mute my mic to my discord calls while keeping my mic audio on stream? Dunno if Im just not seeing it. Thanks again and keep up the amazing work!
Thanks Danny! I hope you're loving the RCP2 overall. The easiest way to do what you're looking for is to use USB Main as your main stream audio and then use USB Chat to create a mix minus for Discord where you can mute your mic (then select that as your audio source in Discord).
@@tombuck hey Tom thanks for quick reply. I currently have it setup in OBS as everything in thr rcp2 going thru main stereo and discord set to usb chat, but when i press the mute button under usb chat it mutes sound from discord to stream but not my mic to my discord team mates..
If Sure SM7b is connected to rode caster 2, and select its settings to sure mic in rode caster. Will i need Adobe audition to remove noise after recording?
You shouldn't, especially if you're using the RCP's noise gate, but of course it's really just up to you. Personally, I've stopped using Audition as much after getting the RCP2.
I dont know but i am a ittle confused.. i have selected everything on mix minus, when i bring my mic up (Ch1) and watch/listen to your channel on youtube (Ch3 usb2) then the mic hassort of echo or lag delay effect when i talk. If i turn off mix minus on CH3 usb 2 then the video audio echoes. i am so confused.. how will this sound on a stream ? very perplexed..
I have difficulty choosing the right setup, as i stream music from my computer to the rodecaster, but also do co-hosting on Studio Live tiktok (on PC). I get the other person heard through the PC speakers rather then the rodecaster! Where should i send the music to, and where the other person? Any help would be appreciated!
Hm, I'm noticing a new main camera angle used, refreshing! Don't forget the old one though, I'm so biased haha.... Must admit I'll have to start applying all updates "as I go" and start needing new setups. Great that you elevated the unit itself on a boom arm and you've found those non reflective angles, vwry pleasing to the eye. Great video!
This was mainly because I needed to fit the RCP in the shot 😁 It's nice now that the room has more than one angle that looks good on screen. But don't worry, the video I filmed right after this went back to the "classic" angle.
@@tombuck well for some odd reason my rodecaster pro 2 the usb 1 dosnt get recognized by windows but the usb 2 is getting recognized as secondary I updated to the latest firmware and aperently a lot of people have the same issue people apparently have send it back 2 times but still had the same issue
Any generic VESA arm will work. This is a pretty basic one I found on Amazon, but I recently swapped it out with an extra long one to give a little more reach. It's really nice to have it off the desk!
Hello Tom, I have a few questions. First, is posible to connect two rodercasters a one pc? And second question is, if is posible to connect two a rodercasters each other where one is the main and another is de secondary. I am a teacher in Portugal, and the school we have a radio project, and i think to change the studio show setup to a two roadcaster II, but first i need to know if is posible to make the configurations who that i'm asking you? If is posible to answer me and make a video where to explain this, perfect. Thanks to help me.
Hi I have a Rodecaster Duo. At the moment I have been able to use it on X spaces which used to be Twitter spaces. People can hear me fine although when they speak it echoes. I’m connected via Bluetooth. Any advice or help would be appreciated. Thank you
Hi Tom, I am having youtube livestream issues using rodecaster pro 1 through restream studio (OBS alternative) : my sound mic is well heard while streaming but I like to use music from my mac via VLC, or even sounds playing coming from youtube source but, we can't hear it clearly, we can just hear there is music behind my voice but the quality is really poor. This is probably very simple to fix that but I am stuck for now combining rodecaster pro and restream studio, "rode caster pro multi channel" is well selected setting up input and output on restream studio... would you have a tip for me please ? Have a great day ! Julien
Hi sir, is it possible to do fb live streaming via Handphone using this new rode equipement? - such as connecting the one of the two type c cable to the hp directly ?
Currently, I have my RØDECaster Pro II set up to use as a communication device through to Discord. I regularly play online and include effects and sounds from the pads. What I would like to do is occasionally play audio from RUclips or an MP3 that's not on a pad. Is there any way to have a fader assigned so that I can fade this specific audio up at will? I've not seen any way to do this except switch on and off the mix-minus function.
Great video as always, Tom, and as a new RCP2 owner this, I'll be watching a lot of yours! I had a lot of hair-pulling yesterday as I tried to set everything up, and get things working with Hindenburg Pro - it did not like multi-track, haha! I do have a question, not sure if you can help: I'm trying to use the RCP2 for Twitter Spaces, but via Bluetooth through my Google Pixel 3a. I could connect, but was told I was sending feedback, and I couldn't work it out. Is this where mix minus comes in? Do I still talk through my 1st slider, that I have set up for my SM7B, or do I need the Bluetooth input switched on too for vocals? So confused! :) Thanks as always for great tips and advice, it's appreciated.
Hey Tony! It depends in your needs and budget. If you’ve got the money for it, there’s really nothing else quite like the RCP. It’s truly an amazing tool. But if you only need a single channel XLR interface it’s probably overkill.
@@tombuck thanks for the quick reply. I do plan on being versatile with my equipment and doing live streaming, making videos ,and music. Just debating with all the sales going on this week lol
Hello, a question. How can I exclude my microphone from the monitors during a live stream, while still listening to the voice of my guest and the audio of the pc? Thanks for your attention.
I think there are a few ways to do it, but the simplest one is to probably use the green Listen/Solo button. Press that for every channel that you DO want to hear and those are the only ones that will go out to the monitor, but it won't affect the actual stream/recording.
Thank you so much Tom for the interesting videos about the RODE PCPII as I would like to inform you that the second menu of the sound pads which include the (Megaphone, Ducking, etc...) doesn't produce any sound when i am pressing on them while the first page of which includes Music Bed, Airhorn, etc...) is working perfectly so whats the reason behind? also I would like to request you if you can kindly make a tutorial about the best settings for the SHURE SM7B including the best processing settings for it as i would like to have the same sound output of the DBX 286s, Thank you so much and i wish you all the best.
Certain effects, like those on the second page, will only be noticeable when there's an audio signal running through the RCP2. For example, if ducking is on, you won't notice it unless the other channels have audio going while channel 1 starts talking.
Thanks Tom! Question: i used the RCP & Zoom H6 combo to achieve a 6 mic podcast. With the 3.5mm jack now gone on the RCP 2, and advise on achieving a 6 mic set up? (monitoring was one of the main reasons the zoom went into the RCP and i split the headphone jack to get everyone on the headphones)
I would run a cable from the RCP's monitor outputs into the zoom (a 1/4" to 3.5mm cable with two 1/4" jacks on one end). The ability to select a line level output should actually give a better result.
if i wanted to run usb 1 to my gaming/streaming setup like normal, and use usb 2 to run to my mac to make use of the two XLRs for amplifier direct outs going to a daw on the mac. will i also be able to hear the playback and mix from the daw over usb2 from the rodecaster duo, or is usb2 ONLY an output? i’d really like to have my headphones plugged into headphone 1 and speakers in headphone 2 and just use this as a proper all in one audio interface with monitoring for two computers.
Just a heads up/reminder that there are a lot of spam bots pretending that you might have won a contest. Definitely ignore those- there is no contest and you definitely don't want to reply to them.
So I didn't win an Astor Martin DB5???? 😤
now I got it.

The OG RCP is absolutely fantastic still. The new one definitely has a lot of complexity, but fortunately it can be made simple too.
I really got to get my hands on a RØDECaster Pro II. Amazing.
You absolutely should, if for no other reason than the voice changers.
I bought a RC2 but my Lord, it's so confusing getting it set up. Thanks for all these videos, you're saving me so much time.
So glad they're helpful! There's a lot to learn, but if you take it step by step it's pretty manageable.
Solid vid brother. Your RODE vids have been a huge help. Keep’m come’n 🤜🏼🤛🏼

This has been the number question I’ve been getting about RCP2. MIX MINUS!! Dope video! Also, I just love that low camera angle for the RCP2 screen
I need to fine-tune it, but not having to get an overhead shot every time I want to show the RCP is sooooooo nice.
Another great video. I mostly use the RCP II For guests talking through zencastr. So I don't think I need to dive too deep into Mix Minus and all these different USB settings. Having said that, it never hurts to watch every one of these videos just in case I ever need the knowledge!
It's always surprising how situations pop up over time where this kind of info can come in handy 👍
You are seriously good at this. Thanks!
Thanks Jeff! I really appreciate that!
Thanks for the explanation, Tom! Mix Minus to the rescue ✌🏼
I'm glad you're not mixed up anymore 😁

I’ve been so excited to start a podcast with my dad and my kids, 3 gen of gamers! This channel is invaluable!!!🙏
With a name like yours I'm guessing you've got your own arsenal of dad jokes 😁
Thanks for the kind words! And thanks RUclips Algorithm™ 👍
@@tombuck oh so many jokes😅 My kids remind me daily😂
Once again, Tom Buck to the rescue. I had this working and then lost it. I started trying to mix minus USB 2's output from USB 2, instead of USB 1. I watched this a couple of times and even slowed it down to 80% speed, or so, and then I woke up LOL. Thank you cusTom :) :) :)
Haha. Glad it helped Ned! The new routing tables are definitely a big change, but it’s not TOO wild once you take it step by step.
Wow great info on the usb multitrack settings!!! You covered it all. Thanks Tom! I'm beginning to get the itch.
I know you've got a pretty extensive setup already, but this thing is really really fun!
@@tombuck fun is what it's all about I was at B&H a few days ago.playing with it.
@@tombuck purchased the RCP 2 today. I just couldn't help myself lol. You look like your having to much fun.
The provoked pawn sent me. Hugeeee help. Audio noob here. Ty Ty
Thank you soooo much i was having problems with my discord chat . Everyone could hear what i was watching or playing
I hope this helps fix that problem!
(it should)
Thank you so much, this was SUPER helpful!
Happy to hear that!
Thanks a lot❤
Glad it was helpful!
Maan, ALL I can think about is getting this thing in my hands. My audio journey has taken me to the RCP2, now I just need to get it....
It's really an excellent tool!
@@tombuck thanks that’s the same thought I had!
Thanks bro for your teaching bro, which mounting do you use hold the rcp2.
Any VESA mount will work, but this is the one I like because it's super long: geni.us/bOkzyk1
Hi. I purchased the first Rodecaster around a year ago. Should I get the new one or wait? Love your videos and they provide amazing help.
It really depends (unsatisfying answer, I know). The new RCP is better, but if the original is suiting your needs, then there's really no need to upgrade.
I think the biggest reasons to upgrade are:
-More clean gain (no more boosters needed)
-Better headphone amps
-More options for USB mixing/routing
There are tons of other features too, but those ones are really what I think have the potential to make the most immediate impact on a workflow.
@@tombuck thank you so much.
I have a live show, I use the Rodecaster Pro 2 with Stramyard and I take calls that the audience hears. I usually use main. Should I use Mix minus?
That's really interesting. I would definitely send that feedback to Rode as it might be something they're not totally aware of yet.
He: I go the info I needed by 5:25 . . .
She: So why did you keep watching until the end?
He: I needed to know what the next pun would be.
@@tombuck Over my head! Got it! Thank you!🙌
Hello Tom please which Headphones do you use..they are not included in the gear in the description
I like the Rode NTH-100's. I've been using them daily since about March and they're great! I'm literally wearing them right now 😬
First of all…your videos are amazing.
How's the rodecaster on the mount? does it move if you press the physical buttons? Thanks!
It works really well! I was worried about it moving too much, but it's really not an issue.
Thanks for the video! Did I get this right: It is NOT possibly wo route a mix minus to an analogue output like the headsets or line out?
Hi.. I know it doesn't have anything to do with this video but how do you connect the new rødecaster with the Atem mini pro to get the best result?
This is something I've been experimenting with and am planning a video on once I have a good solution 👍
Thanks!
So ... how do I add a delay to a call-in channel type situation so i can hit the beep button quickly enough to save my channel a strike? Ideally, I could add a 1 second delay to the output on USB 1 of the input from USB 2, without hearing the delay myself. Any such functionality, extant or planned, that your aware of? 🤔
Very nice Video
Thanks!
Where did you get that roadcaster arm at? Loven it!
There's a link in the description, but it's just a generic VESA mount. I love it though!
@@tombuck Very awesome thanks for the info. Love your channel man...Great work!
Hi please make a video about voice effect for some reason I can hear my special effect for 15 to 30 min after that never comeback unless I Reset it can be heard
Oh a video on all the effects would be a great idea!
After this comment I realize that I can still heard the voice effect in the secondary head phones but not in the primary head phone... it will be great if you splend why is that and if there any settings to fix it .. thank you very much
Hi Tom. Would a midi keyboard (piano) with usb c connection worked on rodecaster pro 2? Cheers.
I need your help. I cant find any videos on routing for this thing and I'm having HUGE issues.
Nope, those will fortunately stay the same no matter which mode you're in 👍
It mostly has to do with the software that you're running it into- some apps work well with multitrack while others really struggle with it.
@@tombuck Thx for the quick reply Tom!
Have you looked at the Zoom LiveTrak L-8 yet? Would love to see your thoughts in a video!
I've used the P-8 but not the L-8. From what I understand it's geared more towards live events/music production and not so much towards spoken word/streaming but I'm not 100% sure.
@Tom Buck Exactly! Figured with your instruments, you'd be really well set up to put it through its paces!
Talk about that arm you have the RCII stored on!
It's just a generic VESA arm I found on Amazon. Any VESA monitor arm should do this trick. I definitely recommend it, it's super nice to have it mounted this way!
So with this, would you still need software like Loopback?
It depends. I'm inclined to say no, but there are so many scenarios where people want to mix and create audio sources that Loopback definitely still has a place.
Hey Tom! How did you attach the RCP2 to the desk arm? :D Is there a mount on the back or do I need a laptop stand? Many thanks!!
The RCP2 has a VESA mount on the back, so any VESA arm will work 👍
@@tombuck Thank you, that's an awesome feature!
Total aside to the topic, but what did you use to mount the rode caster on the swing arm? I have the first rode caster, and mounting it like that would be a great help for me.
Ah, I see it in the details - never mind. Can't do it with the first model.
I think there are some laptop arms that will work with the original RCP (they have kind of like a tray that it rests on).
@@tombuck I have found and ordered one, thanks.
And thanks for the quick reply!
Could you do a single video with a real world setup of the Mix Minus custom settings as it is still hurts my head trying to figure out what it does.
As far as I know it doesn't control the applications on your computer, but will control the audio running FROM your computer.
I have three things to try:
1. For headphones 2 & 4, go into the output setting and try switch between high/low sensitivity
2. If that doesn’t help, try resetting the RCP2
THANK YOU!
How do I connect my Rode Videomic Go II to my Rodecaster pro II? Do I have to use one of the usb c ports on the back?
There's not currently a way to run a USB mic into it, but it wouldn't surprise me to see that in a future update.
Did you use the the Rode VXLR Pro?
Tom, I am not sure you are actually aware of this issue but did this update address the USB 1 connection to a PC? It is incredible unstable when plugged in, and toggles on and off quite frequently, and quite frustrating when livestream.
Since I'm not a PC user I can't say for sure, but Rode did mention improved PC compatibility, so hopefully that means it's taken care of.
Does this happen to you when you're not streaming? I'm on a PC, and I haven't noticed this issue, but I also haven't streamed with it yet; I've only used it for Discord and podcasting.
If you've already demonstrated what ''mix minus'' is and why/how it works it might be cool to link to that video somewhere.
Any advice would be appreciated.
what;s that arm called?
Any VESA arm will work, but this is the one I have: geni.us/aPPb
Absolutely it can! Especially because the RCP2 has more control over your outputs, which is great for monitors and PA systems. 👍
I'm not sure if this is possible since the mix-minus options don't include the monitor outputs 🤔
In any case, thanks for such terrific videos! I'm learning a ton from your channel.
I think I figured out a solution from another of your videos. I'm using the channel 1 headphone output to go to the monitors rather than using L\R monitor outs. Then using the 'listen' buttons on every channel _except_ for channel 1. Seems to work, cheers!
hi! Tom question I interview a person and when I heard the recording his voice sound like double. What could be the problem. thanks

Will i need Adobe audition to remove noise after recording?
You shouldn't, especially if you're using the RCP's noise gate, but of course it's really just up to you.
Personally, I've stopped using Audition as much after getting the RCP2.
@@tombuck i need clear sound for RUclips videos, especially to get rid of fan noise, i don't need effects. Will it be fine?

Thanks as always for great tips and advice, it's appreciated.
Hi Tom, do you think it's worth a rodecaster pro 2 vs an entry audio interface such as a motu or focusrite with a dbx 286s?
USB 2 can also be used to bring in video calls from an iPhone? Sadly doesn't work for native phone calls tho.
An iPhone can be used with either USB port as long as it’s with the correct cable (Rode SC19 is best).

I would run a cable from the RCP's monitor outputs into the zoom (a 1/4" to 3.5mm cable with two 1/4" jacks on one end). The ability to select a line level output should actually give a better result.
Hi Tom! Can I ask wish arm mount your using to hold the rodecasterpro? Thank you!
It’s just a generic VESA monitor arm, nothing crazy. But it works great!
if i wanted to run usb 1 to my gaming/streaming setup like normal, and use usb 2 to run to my mac to make use of the two XLRs for amplifier direct outs going to a daw on the mac. will i also be able to hear the playback and mix from the daw over usb2 from the rodecaster duo, or is usb2 ONLY an output? i’d really like to have my headphones plugged into headphone 1 and speakers in headphone 2 and just use this as a proper all in one audio interface with monitoring for two computers.
please tell me how how to remove desktop audio from my input, in discord they hear sounds from my desktop
