    I loved this guide and how you split it into phases. I built all 3 phases and found myself low on fuel for my fuel generators. I'm not sure if its because of an update or any changes but my main issue was not having enough crude oil to supply all 10 refineries. I just decided to add a second oil extractor that hooks into the last 5 of my refineries. That solved all my problems. Hope this helps someone else!

    • @whisstler
      @whisstler 5 дней назад

      As a follow up to this, I now realize that crude oil deposits come in pure and normal forms. The pure forms literally double your output. So when you place an extractor for this factory you need to have a pure crude oil deposit or 2 normal deposits.

As you can guess I was having a bunch of problems with pipes not being full, and the buffer never filled up. I spent a while this morning learning more about head lift and found out that my under-floor loading of fluids is the problem. Looking forward to redesigning it and removing this issue. Thanks for the GREAT guide. I'm a about to tackle a huge oil-fired fired power plant on the west coast. :)

    I centralize everything & unfortunately the pure oil patch was like 2 km from my base but I'm planning to use the train in the future to bring the goods in.
    Because of that I'm wrapping my head around the computer production. Seems like you need buttload of plastic, like way more than I'm currently producing. Excellent build brother! Confirmed it still works in update 8, with the help of two additional pumps; One between the fuel buffer and generators, and also one between the oil extractor and the input manifold on the row of 10 refineries. Also, the oil extractor should be overclocked to 125% to match the 300 input of the combined 10x refineries. With some careful pipe and belt maneuvering, I was able to make the design slightly more compact. Mine is occupying a 16x17 foundation space.

To the left of the storages, I also set up drone ports when drones become available and can then fly the rubber and plastic to where I need it. Trucks work well, too. Edit: You did mention upgrading to the larger buffers later on

    If you read this and plan on recreating this: It is not neccesary to underclock the third refinery if you can live with a little less plastic. Leave it as it is, instead turn up packed fuel prodution from 4 to 24. If you do this, you will use up all 120 Fuel produced with no left overs, get a bit more fuel but suffer a minor loss of plastics for canister production.

    • @spectrumdad_
      @spectrumdad_  Год назад

      The reason we underclock is because we don’t supply enough heavy residual oil to supply 3 refineries of fuel. Leaving the third one not underclock although technically works, won’t work at 100% efficiency and you won’t be producing more fuel, it’ll still be 100 fuel but machines will turn on and off making things less efficient.

    • @SunWoodMC
      @SunWoodMC Год назад

      @@spectrumdad_ i understand your math and it is correct but for some reasson, once my pipes were filled to max compacity i was able to run everything at 100% with no machines stopping or drop in production. I assume that, since pipes mk1 hold 300 units of heavy residual oil, running the third refinery at full capacity taps into the "overflow" in the pipe system, which in turn fills up fully to 300 maximum fast enough to not deplete. Either that or i bugged it out somehow. Maybe the timings off somewhere in the productionline, cant for the life of me see where since the math checks out but i built your setup twice, hooked it up to a fully overclocked oilpump and am yet to run into an issue.i run the game unmodded, so cant be a mod either. I'll keep an eye on it but so far it works.

    • @spectrumdad_
      @spectrumdad_  Год назад

      @@SunWoodMC yes that is most likely what happened, but overtime it will get rid of that overflow. It's not really a big deal, you will just notice less output at some point but you might not notice it too much if you aren't looking for it.

    This is actually the best guide i've seen about oil, wich is complicated, honestly. The only problem for a newbie like me, just reached oil unlocked, is getting 300 MW on a total of 900 actually produced from my coal plant. I suppose i can start with a couple of refinery, produce some things and try to upgrade the milestones. Still, an excellent video, with the squares where to put the things explained. Thank you so much for your work. Just one curiosity please, what you use to fly? it's the regular jetpack or one of the Mod who allows you to fly? i'm trying to play totally vanilla, without using mods, wich made the positioning a real hell. I totally understand for the purpose of a video is absolutely more clear and easy (and to make the video short) to show the build to the top.

    Maybe I'm just not far enough along in my own progress, but I would like to know how you managed to float above your factory. You have a point of view in building out this petroleum plant that I don't know how to achieve.

    Why do you need to add a pump prior to the packager? Wouldn't either the refineries or the fuel storages provide enough head lift to push the fuel into the packager?

  • @projectvalkyrie2324
    @projectvalkyrie2324 Год назад

    Very well made Guide, good to understand and follow!! But there is a flaw the 10 refineries you have for plastic and rubber don't produce enough heavy oil to supply the 3 refineries making fuel. As it is now you only produce 100 HOR which is 50 short of producing 100 fuel.

    • @spectrumdad_
      @spectrumdad_  Год назад

      Thanks! I do mention to underclock The last refinery of the fuel To 50%. That will solve that issue.

    • @projectvalkyrie2324
      @projectvalkyrie2324 Год назад

      @@spectrumdad_ Ye I know but its still needs 150HOR per minute ^^. 60HOR per minute for each of the 2 refineries at 100% and another 30/min for the the one at 50%

      @SpectrumDad Nevermind all that apparently there was an issue with 2 of the refineries so now it works ^^"

    First of all very useful and accurate, great video, but to power all this I need to overclock the oil extractor to the max.
    Furthermore, the fuel produced is enough for 5 generators, not 8.
    I don't understand how a setup like this can work.
    I did everything the same as the tutorial.

    • @spectrumdad_
      @spectrumdad_  Год назад

      The setup produces 150 heavy oil/min, and converts it into 100 fuel/min (-4 for packaged fuel, so 96) that then goes into 8 fuel generators (12 each). *Note The rubber actually produces 20 heavy residue oil per machine and not 10 like plastic. I would turn off and on machines in phases to make sure the machines get full with resources before moving on. That will avoid a lot of issues.

    • @Panterarossa01
      @Panterarossa01 Год назад

      @@spectrumdad_ I have already had the machines filled up, but the fuel is not enough for 8 generators.

    How did you power the first phases before you got the fuel generators???

  • @staxx1559
    @staxx1559 Год назад +1

    The only issue I get is with the generators, the last 4 struggle for fuel. Ive let the pipes fill up entirely but they always end up going empty after some time. Im not sure why. Same thing with the rubber. The rubber always needs more fluid, but they take too much. Everything is level and shouldnt need a pump. Any tips?

    • @spectrumdad_
      @spectrumdad_  Год назад

      I would turn off the first couple refineries in the oil line until the last machines fill up, then turn them back on. Then keep an eye on your pipeline. If done correctly it will keep up. What you can do is put a fluid buffer raised up before the first refinery, even just 1 foundation higher. That will help with potential backflow.

  • @love2rogue

    could i overclock all these by 100% (including fuel packs to 8 per min) mark 2 pipes and fully overclock the oil and it should function the same with twice the plastic/rubber/power?

    Once everything is running, can I overclock the fuel generators at all for more power or will that cause issues?

    • @spectrumdad_
      @spectrumdad_  Год назад +1

      No because they are currently using all the fuel being produced. But you will need a lot more power. Usually you will want to unlock a few alternate recipes to create bigger fuel setups. I’ll be making a video on that.

  • @guryurfur528
    @guryurfur528 Год назад

    Super amazing video. This is going to be my next project. Something I might have missed but once this is all setup like this, do you still need to flush the pipe network at all after this? Or is it all handled automatically at that point (theoretically never need to touch anything again)?

    • @spectrumdad_
      @spectrumdad_  Год назад +1

      Nope if all is setup properly you shouldn’t have to flush ever after you have the fuel setup.

  • @MetaDataAutomation
