Memories. ADAC is a German car club that actually patrols and responds to problems. When I was stationed at Ramstein, I learned early on that if you were on the Autobahn and the traffic stopped ... and an ADAC chopper flew over ... you were going to wish you had camping gear and lots of provisions.

Otherwise, the auto stabilization is fighting you. * Turn off photogrammetry if don’t want melty buildings. * Study this thing because it has a ton of functions. For example, you did not have the FMS’es enabled. * Download Simfocus autogen helipads

company been making flight sims for over 40 years and still can't animate a pair of legs and arms for a fella! lol and flight medics still walkin thru ambulances!
The H145 and other modern airbus helicopters have an «always on» AFCS. This is modelled by HPG. To fly it manually you have to hold Trim Release (by default mapped to Reset Rotor Trim I believe) in order to not constantly fight the autopilot.
I bet he knows that, the autopilot wasn't on in this flight. AFCS stay like that in normal flight, same thing here is that you don't turn off protections SEC's and FAC's in normal flight in A320.
@@komrad1983 The AFCS definitely was on. Otherwise you would have warnings on the PFD. You can see the override message going on and off. When it’s off, that means AFCS is in control.
@@ysteinRnning it does feel kind of awkward when the system transitions to auto stable. Sometimes it gets very "wild", especially in windy conditions or at high accelerations. I really can't imagine the actual machine behaves like that.
Great video, sir. Just got into the Spectre series and I’m really enjoying it. And as a Glock 36 EDC, I was pleasantly surprised to see my rarely talked about pistol in action.
ADAC means "Allgemeiner Deutscher Automobil Club"...it's Europe's largest automobile association located in Germany...they operate the largest fleet of ambulance helicopters there.
I think the flight controls issue comes from the systems of the H145. There are some buttons you need to assign and use to overrule the autopilot, which is basically on at all times. The "Trim Release Button" is the most important. If you don't press it while flying, the Autopilot is constantly fighting your commands.
Looks really nice. A bit incongruous to see this very German rescue helicopter in this American/post-apocalyptic scenery. I've never flown helicopters, only tried it in the simulator once, but it's almost impossible with spring-loaded joysticks. Well done. I hear X-Plane does a pretty decent job of simulating helicopter flight dynamics.
I was thinking this was awfully familiar then I realized that I went near here on vacation a few years ago, crazy to see the same hospital and airfield on Google Maps.
if you decide to do this again there's an addon for MSFS that adds powerlines, I think it makes helicopter missions more enjoyable. Really though we're all just waiting for the new version of the game in November that adds these missions for real
Awesome. Didn’t know it had such depth in MSFS. Had it since release but only now have a machine to run it in VR. Would love to know your settings and stuff. I need to tinker now. Thanks for the video!
It’s the autopilot fighting you. I had the same issues, you have to go into the iPad settings and turn down or off some of the features. A lot of them will fight what you’re trying to do throughout the flight.
It is indeed exactly flying like a helicopter. You just did not use trim release at all. It's all mentioned in the documentation that comes with it and there are tons of RUclips tutorials of how to fly it. Just map trim release to a button on your cyclic and press and hold that while you are making inputs. Otherwise it's a bit of an unfair statement that it doesn't fly like a real helicopter.
Do you know anything about a missile mishap that happened at Langley Air Force Base? I believe it was around 1993. I had just been assigned the 71st at Langley and was told a week or two before I got there that the reserve Air Force wing had accidentally shot off a missile while testing the weapon system. I would like to know more about this if you can find out anything. I know it was quite a while ago, but it would be interesting to know. I worked the weapons on the F 15 C&D model so I do know if you set up the weapon system can be set up in a way that a missile can be fired while the airplane is on the ground. Which means someone left the missile hooked up to the rail and the safety pins were pulled. It’s a lot that has to happen for the mishap to happen, but it can be done. And if my memory serves me correctly, it was an AIM 9. I think the reserve unit had F-16s. It was shot towards the 06 end of the runway so it would have landed in the bay. We called that end of the runway “06 in the sticks” and the other end was “08 by the gate”.
Do you find FS2/4 better than DCS for realistic dynamics? Thanks for sharing your setup too - looking to build a sim setup from scratch, so nice to know what you find works well.
You use a puma pro flight trainer correct? I have some settings you should try. People don't talk about this helicopter with self trimming stick very often and it's very tough to find information on it! What you should try is the following! I would love to see how you feel about this compared to what you experienced here!!! go to tablet, gear icon in bottom right, setup at the top of that screen. **very important one. HANDS ON settings motion This only overides the semas when the stick is in motion. default is deadzone which is impossible with the PFT Cyclic Sensitivity -70%. This lets you really use the whole stick. FEET ON - Motion pedal sensitivity is around -30%. the 145 does a lot of self stable with the pedals so this has been a happy medium Next up is also MASSIVELY important imo with the PFT Cyclic Trim Hardware Pedal trim Hardware. This lets the unsprung sticks self trim Lastly you have to map the Force Trim button on the hype operations app. It links it to a random unlikely to use mapping in game for you since msfs doesn't have SAS and force trim implemented natively. This allows you to do a force trim and override the SEMAS so it feels loose like a kiowa or something would. I think this will completely change your experience. Like night and day difference!!!
I had DCS controls dialed and then something happen and I can't get them back. Xplane and MS seem to fly about the same and close to real world from my experience. What are your DCS settings for helicopter controls if you don't mind sharing?
Probably not "easier" per se, but definitely different. I grew up on MSFS products from a child and it was great for getting used to reading the instruments, and in the new version, it's great for learning VFR navigation, in real world flying, but there's just no way to replicate that "seat of your pants" feedback experience you get from a real airplane. And during the critical phases of flight (slow flight, stalls, takeoffs and landings) it really boils down to feeling what the airplane is doing (and what the environment is doing to the airplane) which is something a desktop sim just can't quite replicate, and it messes with real world pilots who are used to relying on those sensory cues which are, unfortunately but necessarily due to limitations, absent in the sim.
