When i heard you mention that you tried out BMS like most viewers i was interested to hear your flight model thoughts. The campaign is the thing that sets Falcon apart from everything else though.
I started with Falcon BMS. In Chile, March is the month that celebrates the official creation of the Air Force, so it's a joyride of different planes. A friend from HS is a viper pilot and allowed me to climb in the cockpit. We made a bet that I could start the viper (not touching any switches ofc) and I got out with a nice bottle of whiskey. Edit: Might I add that it's almost stupid proof. Engine knobs on the right side, config panel in front of you, radar on your left. It seems that the people who designed thought "What if we put all related instruments with something specific in a left to right motion". Beautiful plane, even though we used older block 50 models.
My Dad worked for GD in Ft Worth for 35 yrs. He actually designed the MFDs for the F16. I think he would be Damm Proud that his Design is still Being manufactured and flying Fifty Yrs after he helped make it. And almost 30 yrs after he has passed. God Bless you all.

Not sure if its ATC related however I do remember grabbing the cable with the hook in the past and they do work. I probably did declare an emergency with ATC, I do remember them working. Thanks for the tip didnt think it was ATC correlated function but makes sense now to raise the cables.
The environment ie ATC, AWACS and teamwork and feeling part of a far bigger world is where Falcon has shined for over 25 years. As much as i use DCS nothing has ever touched Falcon for feeling like a small wheel in a huge machine. Oh and the F-16 is incredible, F-15 is outstanding as well. Graphics actually look and feel like what real simulators feel to be in ie full motion real life sims so i still like the graphics. Sure its not DCS but graphics are to me only one component of what makes a simulator great.
I bought Falcon 4.0 in 1998 as a 15 year old and it's what got me into flying. Eventually my body told me "no", but it was still a good ride. I still remember my first successful aerial refueling. And of course I played the campaign. It was really nuts when you were on route on a bombing mission with some heavy GBUs and two bags and suddenly your RWR went off from a MIG or one of the many SAMs and things got real fast. Jettison, defend etc. It's actually been a while that I touched Falcon.... but yeah, doing that now.
7:48, when you almost virtually GLOC... BMS simulates G warmup requirements, you might find that after doing the turns for G warmup, you'll sustain 9G for longer before the 'knockout' animation kicks in :)
Can't wait for you to dig into the system differences between what's correct on BMS vs DCS. The biggest eye opener for me was that BMS considers even turning on the A/C so you don't fry the avionics, and a few other startup things. Would love your take on the systems, and definitely go through a few campaigns -- this could be an awesome category for you and what you've done at least with DCS. @Mover The MP connection process is so much better than it used to be... and absolutely worth it, just takes a little persistence. Really looking forward to your future BMS vids.
Took me a minute, then realized this game has its roots in a game my friend and I played in the early 90s. We used to spend hours in Falcon AT multiplayer over a null modem cable, trust me the graphics today are a tad better 🤣
I have been waiting for this day for a long time. I feel so......satisfied that a real Viper pilot gives good marks to Falcon BMS. Yeah the graphics aren't perfect but the flight model, functionality and implementing it in the campaign gives an experience like no other!
the VR experience seems to be pretty smooth. nice! I still have the original Spectrum Holobyte Falcon and Mig29 floppies. so many great memories. this is a def. check out.
It's great to see you trying Falcon BMS. I love it for some EW/DEAD training on Nevada NTTR out of Nellis as well. Been using Falcon since their Falcon AT edition in the 80s. PS: Press and Hold Ctrl+E to eject, this is to avoid any inadvertent activation (in campaign, if time and situation permits, zeroize everything like you know it!). Keep going!
just a heads up. you should also try using the AI communication system in BMS. its still really good. as an example. if you actually request a landing on an airport. the AI ATC will actually give you heading, altitude, and speed to maintain. and will guide you onto the runway. works with multiple planes landing too. it will actually dynamically create a landing pattern, and will try to space out planes correctly while lining them up on the active runway. same if you are flight lead giving commands to the other 3 planes in your flight. it blows anything in DCS out of the water. the enemy AI is also somewhat competent at BFM. it can jink gun shots, it knows about vertical circles, it knows how to reverse turns and when. in all my years of playing DCS ive never had an AI go into a rolling scissor with me, or do a high yo-yo. but the AI in BMS will do those things, if you are not expecting what the BMS AI can do using DCS as a reference. a BMS ACE skill Mig-29 will eat you alive.
Glad to see you're checking out Falcon 4 BMS. I, too, am curious what you think of the Dynamic Campaign. As for your gear you may have damaged it when you took off. Unlike DCS you can overspeed the gear pretty easy in BMS
I remember having the original version of this game, complete with the manual nearly as thick as a telephone book, lol. Can't wait to see any future parts of this series (hopefully in the originally intended 4k 😜)
For an original 90s sim with the work the BMS team it's great. Combine DCS Graphics and keep BMS flight model and the dynamic campaign and it would be perfect. Just lean right a little and reset view! I alo have this issue. Maybe select both eyes in DCS and maybe ot will centre. Thanks 😀
At 2:53 I think he's referring to its poor visibility against the concrete of the taxiway. He mentions DCS also has this problem and from my time in DCS I definitely agree.
I played the original game. It was a groundbreaking flight sim. I still have the original 3 ring binder game/flight manual that came with it. It is over 500 pages. It teaches you how to operate every system on the aircraft. It also has detailed sections on BFM and CFM. It is hands down the most complicated and realistic flight sim I have ever tried, and I owned every Janes branded game made.
Yes, it does have random failures but you can turn those off in realism settings. I have also broken my landing gear on take-off. Over-sped the gear and they wouldn't retract. It also lets you fly different blocks of F-16s, also C or D model Vipers, you just have to see what block is slotted for the sortie.
To be honest I always wondered how accurate this is, so I really like this video! I've wondered for so long, I'm still watching it but how do you see it compare to DCS
I flied the original Falcon AT, Falcon 3.0 and eventually Falcon 4 when I was in my teens and wanted to be an F-16 driver. An autoimmune medical diagnosis screwed that up but I've enjoyed spending time in DCS flying their F-16 simulator. For fun after a couple of years in DCS I installed Falcon 4.0, unmodified, and it didn't run smooth at all. I have this super powerful computer that plays DCS at 170 frames per second at 4K but Falcon 4 was chopping quite a bit. Maybe the mod would take care of that problem because it obviously completely overhauled the entire thing compared to the original based on your video.
This was built not so much as a game but an sim. REALISM was the main focus. And damn at the flame wars that went on for years. Un told hrs. have gone into this since the org. 3.0 on 3.5 floppy disk. It also caused SO many divorces. But it was worth it. Squad nites / fight nites /and even training from real F16 pilots and instructors. Man I miss them days. Start at 18-20hrs and next thing you know your flying with guys from Australia the sun is coming up and your try to think of a good excuse to miss work. My pilot days are come to an end and looking forward to returning to the sim. Thanks to all that helped build this sim. Both here and long gone. What a ride it was. Yes you are right its not comparable to DCS because BMS is no match visually and nobody want to play a old game. DCS is the new Falcon in the market. We can debate which one is more accurate, but that dont matter really. Its a game. Did you ever play a car sim? Choose there the same car you drive in real and tell me how immersive the car is compared to the real one. If you do that, you will see "its only a game"....bms community is the most silly one, those guys are sick, like a religion. I dont see that in DCS, there are different guys flying all kind of jetfighters, helicopters and just enjoy the game. For sure dcs may have also fanatic gamers, but thats is what it is...
@@ProGamer-gc3wvHi! Falcon4BMS is more elitist, and it is normal. Exactly for some of the reasons you've mentioned. As a military air crew logging 6500H of flight, I can confirm that BMS and DCS are quite different. DCS is really beautiful, features a lot of different aircraft and it is the best combat helicopter simulation ever created. BMS is everything else and is light-years ahead concerning physics, EW, war environment, IAs behavior, ATC implementation ... etc ... For some ppl, it is game. @@ProGamer-gc3wv The problem with your argument is that you only listed the visuals as the reason that DCS is better. as an example. if you actually request a landing on an airport. the AI ATC will actually give you heading, altitude, and speed to maintain. and will guide you onto the runway. works with multiple planes landing too. it will actually dynamically create a landing pattern, and will try to space out planes correctly while lining them up on the active runway.
same if you are flight lead giving commands to the other 3 planes in your flight. it blows anything in DCS out of the water.
the enemy AI is also somewhat competent at BFM. it can jink gun shots, it knows about vertical circles, it knows how to reverse turns and when. in all my years of playing DCS ive never had an AI go into a rolling scissor with me, or do a high yo-yo. but the AI in BMS will do those things, if you are not expecting what the BMS AI can do using DCS as a reference. a BMS ACE skill Mig-29 will eat you alive.
Wow along the ground you definitely get the feeling of speed way better than DCS (though prettier)
I used to love the old spectrum holobyte game Falcon 4.0
"Welcome to the party, pal"
For an original 90s sim with the work the BMS team it's great. Combine DCS Graphics and keep BMS flight model and the dynamic campaign and it would be perfect. Just lean right a little and reset view! I alo have this issue. Maybe select both eyes in DCS and maybe ot will centre. Thanks 😀
Kind of cool that the canopy lock is functional
Nice video! Yes it does have random failures, selectable in the config file.
What didn't you like about the HUD on taxi I didn''t understand?
At 2:53 I think he's referring to its poor visibility against the concrete of the taxiway. He mentions DCS also has this problem and from my time in DCS I definitely agree.
Loved the "We're on fire, Ricky Bobby"! Priceless reference!
"Help me Tom Cruz!"
Finally. I hope you stay for longer. Welcome to the party!
Hi Mover, if you do the G warm up procedures you should stand some longer time in high G.
hope we will get some A2G action from you
Hey C.W. Thanks for posting. Always interested in a Pro's POV. I've never had a gear failure. That was unusual.
ED should take notes.
Finally BMS!
guess you did over speed the right gear
I'm rather sure you already know about this but still: Try BMS instead.
If you have further interest, I would try contacting ATC. It’s much more realistic than DCS
DCS is great. Think of start playing it myself as well.
Flew this sim for Yeeaars....
Back in the day, we had big team vs team hop's - 20 vs 20 😁oooh those tacviews, where crawled with slamers
"we're on fire Ricky Bobby" kinda makes me wonder what a Wonder Bread or a "Me" livery on an F-16 would look like
2060 !!! … I was the DCC of that jet, great bird, great squadron … PIU!!!
I’d pay money to watch you and Gonky go a few rounds in BMS.
(Freebirds - call sign walkaway/walka)
Thank you, sir!
you flew for 10mins and you broke it
great job 👍🤦♂
😂🤣😂
Try the Balkans and Baltic theaters, they're the best ones.
The mountains over Italy are awesome. Flying over the fjords is awesome too.
Edit
Try it in instant action with infinite ammo and fuel, full Ace Combat mode.
how do you do different theaters? i only have korea.
@@vincentvoncarnap Seem BMS forum, 'Theaters Discussion' section. There are sub-forums dedicated to each major theater, release announcement with download links should be pinned at the top of the list. Just make sure theater is compatible with BMS version you have installed (info should be in title/announcement post.)
@@vincentvoncarnap You have to get them separately.
Try the BMS forum, it's under Community Topics -> Theater Discussion.
You can then select them on the launcher.
@@vincentvoncarnap I responded but the comment got deleted.
I'll try to speak in code to see if it doesn't happen again.
You can get more at BMS f0 rum, Comm unity Topics -> Theater Discussion.

BMS Forum.
Finally! Hope you like it
Sub for going BMS :D
Enjoyed the vid!
Welcome to the dark side of flight sims.
I've build a 1:1 cockpit that runs on this software
Janes F-15 had the best music
Nice - Seems to be a little better than DCS dare I say it?
DCS has better graphics, but BMS has more systems modeled.... maybe not modeled EXACTLY like it should be, but modeled in a believable way.
You should try IL2 Sturmovik. Its WWII but its the most accurate WWII flight sim around
Is there a zoom function in BMS? When using vr. How hard is it to set-up vr?
im pretty sure you can zoom in VR
Did Mover just get shook when he G-LOC'd?
Love to play BMS but FPS randomly drops in VR. DCS run fine. Using quest 2 with usb c cable. Any advice?
Hey Mover you should try VTOL VR for some true multiplayer fun.
When it comes to the F-16, the BMS is at another level. It isn't comparable to the DCS.
For some other, it is a dream that comes alive to be able to experience, as close as possible, what a combat pilot lives (except the simple beauty of flight and magnificent landscapes).
Kind regards.
@@ProGamer-gc3wv The problem with your argument is that you only listed the visuals as the reason that DCS is better. IMO, I would much rather play a dynamic campaign that greatly surpasses any mission that DCS can throw at me than play a game that looks pretty. Plus, once the missiles start coming in, do you really even care that much about graphic fidelity, especially since you aren't even looking at it in those intense moments?
Ah man it would be sweet to have you join us at the 6th or on Falcon Online for a flight
