I think this is one of the better reviews I have seen I thought you were very thorough about the looks and the characteristics of the handling. I do have a GT also a bit of a handful but the best bike I have ever owned and I have had so many I'm 71 and I can not stay off it.
I'm picking mine up in 2 weeks, and I cannot wait, a 2022 GT Rocket 3, I'm 58, 59 this year, so this will be the last bike I buy, and the biggest and the best. I have yet to hear anyone say anything seriously negative about this bike, the worst are described as idiosyncrasies like the motor pulling to the left when accelerating. It has under 6000 kms on it, and is about 90 days old. The new model was another $10k and I simply couldn't justify that purchase, although I think the 23 model has advanced ride management software that almost makes the bike idiot proof when it comes to aggressive cornering. Additionally this was a really informative review, it was interesting as I didn't know the exact nature of the mechanics, like 4 piston brakes, and the intake and other out-take side.
I have the same bike and coming off a Kawasaki Concours an inline four engine with plenty of power a missile on the highway, but the Rocket 3 is on another level the TORQUE that you got at low rpm make a big difference for me the acceleration you got from a stand still position to 60mph is 2.7 sec its just WOW i never in my 40 years of riding motorcycle experience such brutal power like this its a keeper for me for sure.Ride safe dude.
Think it really takes a special kind of rider to fully appreciate this motorcycle. Those that do will ride nothing else. I love her style and raw power but feel she is way too much for me to handle. A truly beautiful machine. Wahoo!
In 2020 I went on a week long ride with a Rocket 3 group in Utah. The older and new Rocket 3s are very cool as are the riders. I'm going on another Rocket 3 ride in July 2022 and I will be doing some videos of that ride. Baxter Cycles is probably the best motorcycle shop I have visited in over 50 years of riding. Simply amazing.
The R3 Triumphs are amazing bikes. Would love to see your upcoming videos. Please send a link when ready. I'm a fortunate person to live so close to Baxter Cycle. Wahoo!
Everything about that bike says quality. It has all the good stuff. I used to own a Triumph Adventurer 900cc it too had great quality and epic styling. I'm getting ready to do the Stator on my Shadow 1100 Spirit and also the voltage regulator while I'm at it. Cheers!
You're right about the "good stuff" Triumphs are tops. Had to look up the Adventurer 900. Beautiful triple. What did you do with it? Good luck with that Stator. It's an easy job. Wahoo!
@@forgottenmotorcycles My Dad begged me for that Triumph so I gave it to him and he dumped it on some gravel on a street and burned the crap out of his leg so he gave it back to me and I sold it because i felt after that It might have a bad omen. I think i will change the voltage regulator as well because I think I fried that too lol! Cheers!
I picked up a 2012 Rocket III Touring last October...can't wait for Spring to get here. It, ofcourse, has the 2300cc engine and is tuned down a bit from the other models. I was looking for something smaller and Japanese but this came up for a great price and I just couldn't say no.
Those are very good motorcycles. Good friend of mine has one that he bought new instead of as a tour model. Been all over the country with it without any problems. He also beefed up the engine quite a bit. A real rocket :-)
@@forgottenmotorcycles , haha, well I think I will get used to the stock configuration before I think about ECM or intake/muffler mods. I plan on putting a hell of a lot of km's on the bike this summer. East coast this year West coast the year after.
@@forgottenmotorcycles, oh yeah...I need that chill riding position...6ft4, 50 and 'generously carriaged'. Anyway. Good review, looking forward to your others.
Great information, I will be going in for the GT Model shortly, still in the phase of saving some money for it… I about 5.9 height- do you think it would be too high for me?
I'm 5-9 with a 30 inch inseam and found the bike very comfortable and manageable. It is wide but does have a low seat so it works well. Would love to spend a day on this hotrod. It will fit you fine. Wahoo!
I had a look through your videos and could not see these 3 bikes and was wondering if you can get your hands on these for a test ride, just love your style. i have owned these three bikes my self and loved them. The classic Yamaha XS1 650 Twin , The Kawasaki Z1 900 both from the early 70s and the Suzuki GSX 1000 a little bit after these 2. At the time these were my dream bikes.
Okay, I've got a friend that's got a 650 twin that he's working on, has modded the heck out of it. Will be doing that one as soon as he's got her on the road. It's an early 70 bike. Am looking for any early Kawasaki 900 in my area...I'll find one...I hope. Do have a GS1000 just down the road from me, fellow showed it to me the other day. Hope to do a video about it soon. Would love to find a GSX 1000 in running order. That was one of my dream bikes and would love to run one down the road. Would definitely do a video on that bike. Wahoo!
@@forgottenmotorcycles Cheers, at the time I owned these bikes I was a teenager and early twenty something, the Yamaha XS1 was my first big bike with a beautiful growl, the Honda 4 750 came out around the same time, then a little later came the Kawasaki 750 2 Stroke water cooled and so started the race for capacity in the 70s, it was great growing up in this era. Then the Z1 Kawasaki arrived and I just had to have one, wow, what a masterpiece of 70s engineering that was. A few years later I bought the GSX. Little did I know at the time that this era was to produce some classic and legendary bikes and I was part of it all..................ranting I know, good to look back sometimes
I have a 2020 GT in black I bought new. I previously had a 2011 Rocket which I loved, but when I saw these restyled versions I had to trade. Love the power, and I can feel it's lighter and more nimble than my old one. Only thing I didn't like is the meager wind protection, had to buy an after-market windscreen (c'mon Triumph, make a bigger one optional on a cruiser). Otherwise I love it.
These are truly amazing bikes. Have not had the opportunity to ride the older model....yet. Will say that I was amazed by it great handling and intimidated by its power. Would love to spend a week getting to know the bike. Wahoo!
I also thought it a bit rude that you to buy a blue tooth kit, around $400aud and another $150 to fit. The shop are the only people who can access and download the software, which my guy says takes around 2.5 hours to download depending on the connection speed. He also charges aud$165 per hour, and talks like he's doing me a favour.
I took care of my foot problem and brought my bike and upholsterer in Rockville, MD, John Longo and built a brand new seat from scratch. Now my feet are flat on the ground. I love this big beauty "Back Betty on Crack".I'll be turning 79 in October. Rickey Tramonte Sorry for the continuous text from my previous one! God Bless to all the riders out there !!
Congratulations! Not only do those bikes look great in red but red is my favorite color motorcycle too. As far as going through the gears at Red line? My excuse is that it's not my bike.. reality is takes more guts than I got LOL
Thanks for agreeing with my own opinion of the Rocket, since I own one! 😂 Seriously though, nice review mate, you are spot on with everything. From quality, to style and ultimate firepower the Rocket is literally insane.
@@forgottenmotorcycles Why thank you, I hope folk like them, and catch a bit of my enthusiasm. Next up, the 5 Best and 5 Worst things video as it’ll be a year next month since I got it… 😏

Sounds like you've got two great motorcycles. The Speedmaster is one of my all time favorite bikes. Would love to have one. The Rocket, a great bike, is a bit too much for me. It's a beautiful and powerful bike but didn't seem as smooth as the Speedmaster. Where about are you located? I always appreciate all input and thank you for yours. Wahoo!
