I live in Northern North Dakota and I don’t even think about moving my truck until the temp gage is warm. So I waste some gas in the process but I don’t care
2014 honda crv bought brand new, remote started every morning and after work, 210k km later engine is still tops.
Honda makes very tough engines. They can take a lot of abuse, normally.
This is my morning startup routine since I owned a car. Start the car. Fut the blower on full defrost. Scrape the ice or frost and by the time i am done with that i can see the Temp guage starting to move up and I am ready to go.
I even drive gently around my neighbourhood first to warm up trans and rear diff. If I have time.
'You're getting zero miles per gallon'... I use that one a lot!!! lol
My warm up consist of starting the car, putting on my seatbelt, adjust the mirrors and radio station and off I go.
With modern vehicles it's better to get going as soon as the oil starts to circulate. Which isn't very long with the 0w-20/0w-16 synthetic oils.
Even as you get moving, I recommend taking it easy on the acceleration until the engine gets more toward operating temperatures.
Honda had a problem with GDI engines dumping gas into the oil . I believe they recommended a longer warm up. I think the other thing you should mention is that you should be gentle on the throttle until the motor has actually reached operating temperature
