I think the barrells are so massive and they have to limit how fast it would accelerare to minimize the torque imparted on the craft and not overcome the thrusters and keeping it spinning might be bad for gyroscopic effects. But yknow the real reason is for gameplay reasons and to push you into keeping the trigger held down

the reason the gau8 and any other gatling gun fires instantly is because they spool up the barrels first then fire, if they shot from a standstill then they would ramp up like the S7 gun on the inferno.. but the infernos barrels are far bigger than a gau8 so it would spool up slower. what would be super cool tho, is if you could spool up the barrel with right click or something
The A-10 did have a ramp-up, there’s a fraction of a second where the gun would spool up before it started firing, obviously it’s a lot smaller than a size-7 so it takes a little longer for the inferno to get going
the ares is unique in that it has custom made and customizable missile racks. you can put any rack on them that fits and it reskins the missile tube section to match the new launcher. you can have some s5 torpedoes for example. s2 for anti fighter, etc
Just saw this ship on the store today and immediately fell in love, glad someone else did too lol. Theres just something so awesome about flying around with a gun that big
once up on a time, long long ago; in a version of starcitizen, far far away; Inferno Ion's Size 7 Ion Cannon can two shot most light fighter (only exception was the banu defender, because during that version of the game it has 3 shields but somehow classified as a light fighter). It was so powerful, at the time, it made ship to ship combat like some 8-bits shooter game...... (to make it even more powerful, Ion cannon is an energy weapon, yes, it doesn't need to re-arm, endless ammo)
I loved that version of the ion it was such a great feeling ship it felt like you did have a size 7 cannon then they ruined it and it felt like you had a single size 4, I haven’t flown it since that change
would love to see more of this one. maybe with some of the customizable missiles/torpedos mentioned in a different comment and preferably with a group like in your full crew videos. just get like 8 dudes with 4 ions and 4 infernos or something
The Spooling is actually something all Vulcan Gatling cannons will do, Higher more advanced Weapons like the GAU 8 Avenger or the M-61 Vulcan have better computers and are constructed so well that they are almost always inline with one of the barrels when the stop or start firing. The Spooling is just to make sure that the barrel is clear and the gun doesn't end up blowing itself up, which could cause a lot of damage to planes or even ships were everyone is vulnerable.
If you want to get a more "instant" stream of fire from the gun, tap the gun so its spooling but keep it just under the speed of full on fire. You can effectively keep it spinning near fire speed and reduce the delay if you learn how to get the rythym of this

8:30 seems the main issue is the spool up. I assume that's how an A10 does it, it spools for a second or two then it begins firing once it's reached max RPM, the fact that this fires as it's in the process of spooling is a bit awkward.
Yeah I agree. Someone mentioned actually that the A-10 has a 0.5 second spin up time or something close to that. The idea of the super long ramp up in the Inferno is a bit silly to me
@@CaptainFlynn117 "a bit silly" ...that gun is MASSIVE compared to the size of the weapon on the A-10. Mass is a thing. Moving something small to a fast speed requires *far* less energy and time in overcoming inertia. Basic physics, first law of motion.

The reason it ramps up might be the inertia of the massive barrel, as this might be electronically actuated as opposed to the a-10 which (I think, I don’t really know) is actuated by the gas from the bullets
I believe, (it has been a while) that the "invalid location" error is when there is a large body (moon, planet, station) between you and the next jump it wants to make.
The spool up was part of the massive multi layer nerf bat they hit the ship with after it launched. Man they hit the ares so hard after it was out it ended up in elite dangerous!! :-/

This actually isn’t the case in real life, it’s one of those “video game” things. The vulkan mini gun has instant spin up, the avenger on the a10 has about half a second so basically nothing. Even the first real gatling gun, developed in the 1860’s, fires with a crank and doesn’t have ramp up
@@CaptainFlynn117 the The M61 Vulcan is a electrically fired "Gatling-style" rotary cannon. its not a gatlin gun, thats why they say gatlin-style. cuzz it looks like one. a half a second is still a spin up.
My Inferno struggles against fighters because of the bullet spread , its 0.5 instead of 0.25 for lasers so I'm told ( I don't know what those numbers mean ) . In my experience it has no advantage over a Bucanneer for LRT or VLRT targets.

How can I change the hangar to the Aeroview version? I bought a gamepackage containing that Hangar, but I cannot find a manual or video on how to change it. Noticed that you are using the Aeroview 😊
Specs do matter, but here's some settings that might help: Running vulkan with dlss, downscaling to 1080p, and believe it or not running everything besides clouds at max settings helps a lot because the current development build utilizes the cpu more than the gpu at lower settings. As far as specs, I have a 4090 with a 7950x3d

Man I want to play this game but I’m having so much trouble with getting my first million. I started in April and was on track to making it happen but then the update happened and set me back so far. (Edit I thought I would turn to you since this entire video is based around buying a four million dollar ship)
What I did to get my first million was cargo runs, but mining could potentially be just as good. It all depends on if you want to go the dangerous or safe route though
If you can get your hands on a vulture, scrapping ships and panels for RMC is far and away the fastest way to make money solo. it is so so fast and so relaxing (if you dont run into pirates.) slide me your IGN if you like, wipe is probably soon but i can send you some aUEC in game so you can snag one and get the hang of it. good luck!
You know I've played a bit during free fly events, and I've always been disappointed by the performance. Even after upgrading to a 13700k/32gb/4080 I still had issues. HOWEVER, I've found the solution. Lossless scaling frame generation. At 3440x1440 on this rig using Lossless scaling, I can finally maintain 144fps, and a moderate 120-130 in cities. Please, if you haven't tried it do it. I have bought SC since I am able to maintain that FPS, it's sooooo much more enjoyable with high FPS.
Yeah I’ve tried that, it’s a great resource for many games. For me tho, I just can’t deal with the input lag but that’s a personal thing. Instead I do dlss and Vulkan and it seems to run fine for me
@@CaptainFlynn117 It's weird.. I don't use it for anything else as I have no problems elsewhere. But when I did try it on something else I did notice the input latency, but I don't on SC. I'm glad I don't because it wouldn't be usable for me then lol.

You might already know but you can use the external station pads to refuel, repair, and rearm. Great video as usual!

Insurance claims should give you back your upgrades, at least for now. I think they are going to change it in the future

as an exprienced war thunder a10 player, the gau8/avenger has to spool up but its quicker and i doesnt shoot while spooling up
