Time for a sensational supercar showdown!
We’ve got Mat in the incredible Porsche 918 Spyder, and it’s facing off against the almighty Ferrari SF90!
These two cars need no introduction, but let’s check out the stats anyway! Starting with the Porsche, it’s powered by a 4.6-litre naturally-aspirated V8 coupled with two electric motors. Combined, they can produce 887hp and 1,280Nm of torque. Power is sent to all four wheels via a 7-speed automatic gearbox, and the car tips the scales at 1,374kg. It also rolls up with a hefty price tag of a cool £1,300,000.
Then we have the SF90. It comes equipped with a 4-litre twin-turbo V8 coupled with three electric motors - two at the front and one at the back. Combined, they produce an eye-watering 1,000hp and 800Nm, pushing this power through all four wheels. It’s a bit heavier than the Porsche, though, at 1,570kg. It’s also a whole lot cheaper, costing around £376,000.
So surely it’ll be an easy win for the more powerful SF90, right? There’s only one way to find out… LET’S RACE!

It has electric motors so not fully naturally aspirated at all. If the porsche just ran on motor it would be slower than 10.1
@@maximusvonce1381 do you even know what naturally aspirated means, it means the engine doesn't use forced induction, adding electric motors doesn't make a car forced induction, for that you would either need a turbocharger(s) or a supercharger wich the porsche doesn't have

I always found the front ugly ever since it came out. Those lights...
they look great, but he 918 looks significantly worse than the P1 and LaFerrari. Can't be one of the best designs ever, however the back is stunning. But the back of the Ferrari and McL and still better

Crazy the 918 is already 10 yesrs old. I remember seeing this one in Snowdonia being tested by Evo magazine and i stopped to talk to Jethro (he was in the Mclaren P1) and Henry Catchpole was with him, he drove off in the 918.. what a sound.

I remember 2013 to ~ 2016 when the Head of the 918 Engineering, Mr. Frank-Steffen Walliser, almost daily came in a 918 to work to the Weissach development center and entered the entrance. I work for Porsche and in that time I was also in the Weissach development center (Building 53) which was exactly behind the fence where the entrance was. So I saw that 918 very often for years and it never got boring. After the Carrera GT and Ferrari F40 one of my all time favorites. 😊

To think the 918 was launched in 2013 (I know that one is 2016) and is still looking so good and performing so well. A decade old yet still amazing.

918 is using a carbon tub, thus lighter than aluminium chassis sf90, also priced higher.

So when comparing, Ferrari will be heavier in real world.

Original price of Porsche is $845K. Ferrari SF90 Spider (got to compare spider with spider ) is $580K. Still big difference. But I’m sure on racetrack Porsche could be faster

It seems just like yesterday I was watching Richard Hammond take the 918 around Abu Dhabi…. And a decade later it’s still breathtaking… they should’ve raced it against the La Ferrari as well…

@@kilotiger7780 Yes. It never had a chance. Things have clearly moved on. Porsche less traction, too heavy, too weak but three times more expensive nevertheless.
@@kevlard Less traction, because of worse tyres. It came from factory with the Michelin cup 2 tires. The sf90 comes with the cup 2 r. You seriously expect 1280nm of torque to grip on these base Carrera tires? And the sf90 has roughly the same wet weight if not more. Plus, in terms of engine specs, the Porsche has 200hp less, being n/a. And that's not including the Em's. With some proper tyre compound, the 918 would murder the sf90 from a dig. It would only lose when up to speed. And it'll still be faster on track, due to more advanced aero. They're both great cars, but credit where credit is due.

The 918 is from 2013 and the sf90 from 2019, so they're 6 years apart not a decade.
This Porsche cost was arround 1,000,000 euros the Ferrari less than half.
The sf90 is not the sucessor of the La Ferrari, is a cheaper and "unlimited" model.
Also the braking test result was basically even.
The sf90 was simply the clear winner.
Having said that, if had infinite money i'd have the 918, but if money was a factor, sf90 all the way!
Ps: Still clearly i'd prefer the P1 or the La Ferrari over the 918, despiste being more efficient on drag races with its awd.

3.11 is one of the most visceral demonstrations on acceleration you'll ever see. Even though the SF90 misqueued, it just shows how quick the 918 is. The 918 is one of my favourite ever cars, but that SF90 is insanely quick
The SF90 takes off cheekily then begins to put distance between it and 918 like it’s not there. It takes a really powerful car to make a 918 look slow like that
