Nice vid dude been struggling to find some nice riding footage and straightforward reviews of the marlin 5 and 4. I am kinda noob in this category of bikes as I'm coming from a literal Walmart hybrid crusier bike that held up nicely but for campus, road and slight trail use, is it worth the $60 dollar upgrade to the marlin 5 (hydraulic disk brakes and slightly better gear teeth ratio) opposed to the Marlin 4 (including maintenance of the different disk brakes)?
So If you are just going to do cruising than get the four but if you are going to do any mountain biking get the 5 or if you just want a better bike get the five. And the 5 has more travel. Thanks for watching man!
I'm looking for a nice bike. I mainly will be riding the bike for fitness for miles on the streets/sidewalks/cement and once in a while I'll hit the trails and dirt. I am also not looking to spend more than $600. I looked at the Trek hybrid bikes but I just am in love with the way this mountain bike looks, I like it more than the hybrid frame. Road bikes are also more expensive and I'd like to have the option to go onto the dirt trails should I want to. Would this mountain bike be great to ride on cement/streets too??? Or is it only for the dirt trails? Will I get flats or something if I ride it too much on the city streets?
This is a mountain bike/commuter. So it would be great for both. One disadvantage of the marlin 5 is it doesn’t have lock out. (Where you can lock you suspension so it doesn’t move this makes it easier to pedal on the streets.) But the marlin 6 does have lock out. It is not the biggest problem. I personally enjoy always having suspension. If you are going to do more commuting then when you get your bike turn your preload all the way up. It is the knob on the right of your fork. Thanks again for watching man I really appreciate it!!! 👍
Hi from Belgium I would like to buy my first mountain bike that is not too expensive. i would like to buy a trek marlin but i don't know if i should buy the 5,6 or 7 what would be the best one ??
First off thanks for watching I really appreciate it. The marlin 5 has the cheapest components out of the three. But as you keep going higher the components get better. So if you have 800$ to spend you should get the Marlin 7. But if you are like me I would by the cheaper Marlin 5 and then slowly upgrade it. Overall, If you just want to get out there and start riding I would get the Marlin 5.
JustGaming thats awesome I hope you really enjoy riding it if you have any more questions please ask I’m happy to help. Also if you know anybody else that wants to get into mountain biking please share this video so we can grow the sport👍
