I own a Trek Marlin 5, bought as a cost effective back up trail bike. Replaced the long stem with a 30 mm, put on 30 mm riser handle bars, and a decent saddle and it works great for trail riding, has decent geometry, handles well, and was still cheaper than an official "trail" bike. It does fine on jumps/drops or other normal trail obstacles. It likely would not do so well on an advanced jump line trail or serious down hill trails. One thing I did notice on my bike when I bought it was that there were way to many spokes that were very loose. I mean squeaking because they were flexing on each other loose when I test rode it. You could feel them and tell they were loose. Tightened them all up and no issues and the trails I ride are very rocky and have several drops. I have had several pretty bad pinch punctures but the wheels are holding up well, haven't gone tubeless yet, spending most of my bike money on my primary bike. Most of them were my fault for expecting a hard tail rear wheel to slam into rocks like a FS bike. Just like any hardtail, you have to slow down a little, pick better lines, and remember you have front suspension but may need to help lift that rear wheel over ledges and obstacles.
Had this bike for 1 year now with very little maintenance! Rides well for the money, and hits jumps just fine! I'd agree though that if you make a mistake this bike is not as forgiving as something more high end. Awesome equipment for the money!
Dude, I’m 220 and ride the mar 6. Bought it for the frame and upgraded everything. You obviously ride it like a bull in a china shop. I’ve put thousands of miles and have burned out 3 tires in 4 years. Great bike
Good bike but it did the same for me. I tried taking it on the rough end of the trail and felt like I was ripped off after buying this bike thinking it would handle. This was the first time I experienced something like this since I’m typically a novice rider I would say a weekend rider. Took it back to the shop and they explained yeah this happens and how to best prevent it and gave me a free fix. My prior bike was a pretty good Bianchi and that bike took me everywhere, through the trails and around town everywhere. I caught a few flats here and there but the bike held up, never folded like the Marlin maybe it’s the 29ers which seem bulky. I got the Marlin thinking I was getting something slightly better equipped for some off road stuff but after it folded I’m skeptical of ever trying anything other then the main trail. Thanks happy trails! ✌🏾
I'm 5'8 155lbs recently bought the Marlin 5 29er 17.5" frame as a beginner. I have a friend who's an experienced and loaded biker (he has a folding bike, road bike, & an mtb. He chose this bike for me because he said that it's frame is a solid foundation that i can build on as i smartly upgrade it in the future. But thanks for the great video, now i know the things that i should avoid doing w/ this bike. I think this bike would make a great commuter/light & medium trail/touring bike if i do my upgrades right. Excellent video thanks
As of 2022, the Marlin 5 has stepped up their components by quite a bit. Switching to a 2×8 gear set, better brakes and drivetrain. The fork is also slightly upgraded but still worth switching out for an air fork if you plan on putting it through its paces.
@@BuffiestFluff I have never been there myself, but the Marlin 5 stock is mainly a XC and moderate trail bike. I wouldn't do anything too extreme on it. That being said, I have definitely pushed mine pretty far past my skill level and the bike handled it fine. I just need more practice.

@THE OBSERVATION SPECIALIST wrong the parts are what separates all the marlin models. The Frames are all the Same. Do some research before assuming. You can essentially buy a 4 and make it a Marlin 5.
I ride it 3 years now and i have purchased better rear derailleur because old one destroyed itself, great bike just need bit more services than the others
I ordered my first Marlin 5 and am looking forward to getting it this week. But thank you for posting this video because it's very informative. Since I'm new to mountain biking it sounds like this bike will be a good bike to learn on. After having it for awhile and learned all the basics and feel I'm ready to start jumping, I'll get the Marlin 6. It sure does sound like I'll be getting my monies' worth.
I came to this video looking for trek marlin 5 comparison (I will buy the 5 2019) and I like it a lot! Thanks for all the complete and honest description, I think I'm going to buy this one and be progressing step by step and like you say -not all of us can buy a expensive bike - in a future look for another bike with more advanced characteristics. PD: greetings from Chile!!
Thanks for watching! I dont think you'll regret purchasing this bike. Even with the few things that I didnt love about the bike, they could all be upgraded and dealt with on a budget. Enjoy your new ride!
I've been using a Carrera hybrid bike on trails and I've managed to keep it up to speed and do most of the jumps. However, it is very heavy and has ultra thin tyres so it was pretty dangerous. The marlin 5 would be a massive step up and I think with some upgrades it would be a perfect bike for me.
I would agree that it would be a great bike. With simple upgrades the Marlin turns into a XC beast. You'll probably have an easier time moving to a bike like the Marlin or similar XC bike since you're riding a hybrid currently. Have fun!
Just finished the video, it was really fantastic and super helpful. Was hoping to do some light jumps with this, it's kind of too bad that it can't handle this. Maybe I'll spend a bit more and get a Vitus Nucleus when the time comes. Thank you!
I like the mix of Vlog and trail footage. The main thing is you are having fun and progressing. Also I'm heading up Wednesday to surf Sebastian or New Smyrna. I might be riding de Leaon or the swamp. Not sure yet but I'll be up there Wednesday through Friday. Cheers
That's what it's all about! Let me know what you decide. I have off on Wednesday so I can link up. Waves should be fun and the trails will be riding nice!
Thinking about getting a Marlin7 I love the paint and Trek seems solid I have never had a bike from bike shop Sears and Walmart for a 50 some old year old dude it should hold up good.
Best bike for the $ by far !!! Love this bike 29 er is great just get used to it over all takes time you wanna do jumps and tricks get a BMx ! Safe riding !
So when it comes to jumps the Marlin 5 can handle small 2-3ft size jumps. However, the chain has a tendency to fall off, easy fix though if you replace the chain with a more heavy-duty one the problem has the potential to go away. Like he said in the video though this is an entry-level bike. The bike is not going to perform to the same standards that of as the marlin 7 or some of the more higher-performing bikes. *I have a Marlin 5 *
Will a trek roscoe 7 hold up on those crazy trails? How bout a marlin 7? Edit: bought a 2022 marlin five fell in love with mountain biking and I already wanna upgrade I will be hitting some aggressive hardtrsils with jumps.
If I’d had the disposable budget to get a $2k+ bike, I would have. As it is, I ended up with a 3rd Gen Marlin 5, and after some minor adjustments and swapping some components out, I have a sub $1k bike that will last me until I’m too broken to ride it. It’s gotten me back on a bike, and back on the trails, so it’s done it’s job in that regards. Not planning on buying my next bike though. Taking the lessons learned from this one and will build my next bike frame up. Don’t plan on getting rid of the Marlin though.
I got the trek marlin 5 in 2018 and i ride it rough, and for some reason my gears dont shift like they used to, like if i shift into 3rd gear it may not even go into gear, but very good bike
Right on. That's kind of what I experienced, too. There are many tricks to combat it like a diy chain tensioner. The best way to get it riding good is to upgrade the drivetrain.... but that's not always the easiest. Maybe bring it into a shop and have them adjust the shifting/derauiler. It would probably only be like $20 and then add a tensioner. It will help prevent the issues from starting. BTW the 2019 Marlins look amazing....
adjust the rear derailleur and make sure to lube the drive train and it's going to shift like a new bike :), or just visit any bike shop and they will adjust it for you
I would recommend giving it a thorough cleaning and ensuring the chain never gets dry. I know it's disapproved of, but I'd clean it and shoot the front and rear derailer with WD 40.
Love the channel bro! I'm new to biking (last regular cycling done about 15 years back) and confused between BTWIN Rockrider 540 vs Marlin 5, or if both r not that good then I can opt for Marlin 7 (27.5), which one would you suggest?? I'm 5'7, and taking up cycling as new recreational sport and ride around nature trail, forests, ocassional off roading.
Thanks for this informative video! Now I now what I'm able to do with my bike! :) Tried it for the first time in intermediate mountain bike trails last week-end, was going pretty well, but didn't tried the jumps as I'm not confident enough for them anyway haha, Now I know my bike isn't confident enough too lol
Funny, for those who would ask you why you're doing a video on such a bike. Just finished watching a video where some kid with a $160 Bike outpaced/performed an experienced rider with a $6,000 bike on a very crazy rough trail. Thank you for doing review on this bike though. Appreciate it.
Right, It's not really about the bike. And any frame can be made into a super XC beast if you want to throw money into it. This is a great bike to start with on a budget and it'll ride anything.....If you want it to! Thanks for watching and the positive feedback!!!
I'm looking hard at the marlin 6, the 7 is more than I want to spend and I'm pretty sure it has the same wheels so I might be better off taking that 200$ towards a better rear wheel? I'm 44 trying to keep up with my 3 yr old so, I'm just over this old trek navigator 200 hard tail no front shock very upright comfortable kicking around the city with wife but I gotta follow this kid off road,.. I know it has better shifters and is 2x8 drive train.. I doubt I hit any jumps real soon but I'll have to eventually build a small ramp for the driveway and teach him how to jump it.. It's gonna have to hold up to that.. Do you think the 6 will.. If I get a better back wheel eventually?
I think any of the Marlin series bikes will hold up to small jumps. I think the best option would be to go for the 6 and convert it to 1x up front. That is going to be the most significant and noticeable modification for the durability and performance of the bike. Just have the shop do it when you buy it. Wheels would also help the cause.
@@mattcarolina Eh, i'm under the opinion that any of the bikes in the marlin line are so similar that it's really not worth the money to buy the highest level. They all have very similar coil forks, average hydraulic brakes, and 7-9 speed cassettes.... The bike is a good, inexpensive fameset that is rideable while you upgrade it. Perfect for a beginner or someone looking to learn about bike mechanics. So to get the most out of your situation, I'd buy the Marlin 5, and use the $250 extra to upgrade the parts (which you seem to be interested in) With Marlin 7 you will just be spending for no reason, regardless if you upgrade it or not. For a new rider, the differences in the 3 bikes are negligible and for an experienced rider, the frame is the same and all the parts that need upgrading are the same so there is no reason to spend more initially. I hope that makes sense and i'm not trying to be rude or anything like that. Just stuff that I would have liked to hear while I was in a similar situation. Also, check out the Roscoe 6, I think this bike is the best beginner bike they offer. It comes with everything that you need and nothing that really warrants upgrading. And it's in the same price range as the Marlin 7.
@@YourOwnAdventure awesome, yeh that'd be about the same idea I had about them. I will probably go for the 6 since it has good enough parts to last me a while I imagine I live in the city but I do like to ride down steps and hop off curbs with my kid and I have been hung up on the flat black 5 but the 2020 6 in the electric blue paint and chrome with all black man she's purty so I gotta get the 6 for the purty paint job lol
Was it the actual wheels you found to be sorta flexible or the tires? I heard you say something about landing a bit sideways and feeling the tire fold or something? Before having the problem
Excllent review bro! I am in the market for a xc bike that Can handle some jumps and squirrely downhill and street curb hopping etc...now the Marlin 5 is off the table, due to this solid review..I am considering the Giant Talon 3.Any thought or reviews on that xc?..or which other XC would you recommend, budget friendly of course...thanks hope to hear from ya
Thanks brother! The Trek could handle what you're looking for but it's really pushing it and they aren't really offering anything exceptional on that frame, even the new 2019 isn't very competitive in today's market. My buddy rides a Talon and he hasn't had any issues with it so far. But I think he has the top tier spec with air fork/1× drivetrain. That combination will make any frame a solid trail bike but unfortunately the lower tier bikes usually dont have it. If you have a few more bucks to spend I'd look into the Diamondback Hook, a little more trail spec'd than XC but will certainly race. It's one of the more affordable bikes that has a 1× system and that's half the battle. At least you'll know you can pedal the bike without worrying about the derailleur blowing up. Anyways, I hope it helped a little bit. I'm going to make a video about this topic because I have only been riding sub 1000$ bikes so I believe I have some insight to share!
Will be crucnhing numbers and spec reaserching on the DiamondBack...always liked that company..well see what happens. Thanks again for the reply brother.
It's really hard to find a video for my bike (2019 Trek Marlin 4), but I guess this is close enough. Also, Trek's owner's manual says you shouldn't drop from any higher than 2 feet on the Marlin series (or any of their hard tails)
Go for the Marlin 5. It is designed for cross country and entry to moderate level mountain bike trails. I have well over 1000 miles on the original drive train. I used it as a daily commuter riding 20 miles day in Manhattan through the rain, sleet and snow. This far I have spent $120 to get a new main bearing and front sprocket. I also bought a new set of tires. Trek provides awesome customer service whether you are in Pittsburgh PA, or OKC, Oklahoma. Trek's main goal is to make cycling accessible, and they do just that.
I bought this for my daily commute to work... Its a step up from my last bike and thats all I know. Since I wont be using it on anything other than busy streets it should last me long term unlike you right?
I'll say one thing, I ride a trail bike and its a 29er. I am 5'6 by the way. I am unique. hahaha I like this video. I never rode a hardtail. It will be strange for when I do.
It's a good beginner and xc rider option. You can certainly put it through some serious stuff. Depends on what you're planning. There are some better options in the $800 dollar range
@@rxlax-2324 I'd go with the Kona if you're trying to jump and have fun on the trail. Or check out the Diamondback Line. It's got all the best features in the price range.
ill hit u with the one two mayweather I’m looking to get the Marlin 7 to replace my Kona Lanai.......which is 15 years old!!! To be fair, I have not done high jumps, but it’s been on some tough trails. I can vouch for the strength of the Kona frame. In the UK, many of the companies that rent bikes in the mountains use Trek Marlins, because they are sooo reliable.
Yes I feel they are adequate. If you haven't ridden anything else it wont matter much. But to compare, I have ridden several budget bikes and these feel the best out of any stock brakes. I believe the 2019 comes with Hydrolic as well.
@@maulikchaudhary5611 Seems like it's not a Brand that is heavily marketed in the US. But from the specs and what it looks like only it seems like a good base to start from. Has a nice geo and plus wheels so it's probably fun. Turn it to a single speed and youd have a blast
I just got the marlin 5 2019 and i ride it hard and its great maybe tbe new model is a lil different but im gonna do a few upgrades to it in the future but for someone thats just getting into it i would get it
The new frameset on the 2019 models looks great. Looks like pretty similar spec otherwise. They are pretty hard to beat, value wise. I hope you enjoy yours!
@@wonjaehwang7670 In my opinion it optimizes the drivetrain and for the most part eliminates chain drop. Simplifies riding with no front shifter and in most cases will be adequate for the terrain. Pair that with a chain tensioner/guide and you most likely wont experience any problems with the drivetrain and everything else on the bike is basically bulletproof.
M on a very tight budget. Which good bike should I buy? I'm not going to perform those stunts or anything but yes where is Live the roads aren't good. Please advise
I’m about to get a marlin 5 and some of the store owners the wheels aren’t even supposed leave the ground and it’s bad if your going over roots or rocks
Dylan MacBride I got it and within 2 2 foot jumps the chain fell off. I fixed it and it kept having the problem. I also went to bike camp last summer so I know how to jump. I was in the advanced group
Should I get this? I love biking and I go all the time. I’m 12 btw, right now it is for sale at 520 dollars and I pay half my mom says, which means around 260, I have 250 so that’s like all my money. Idk
Daniel Massow for me it seems that no one is selling the trek marlin 5 2020 (or it-S no longer available) and it says that the trek marlin 5 2021 hasn’t come out yet
This has been sold! They come up frequently on Marketplace though. Just don't get tricked into paying near full price for. It's worth getting the service benefits from the shop at full price on these budget hardtail bikes.
I currently own a Marlin 5 and recently moved to a state with a huge mountain biking scene. If you had the funds available, how long do you think it would take for your skillset to outgrow this bike and switch to full suspension?
Well what is the terrain like where you live? You could make this bike last forever in most conditions. It's got nice geo for a xc bike and if that fits your riding style keep it. If you think youd like a full sus, your body probably would too, just get one and dont upgrade this frame. Since it's a 29er and limited on the transferrable components, it would be hard to use the upgraded parts on a new bike.
Your skill set has nothing to do with whether or not to get a full suspension bike that is a comfort choice. It takes more skill to ride a hardtail than a full sus.
I have a marlin 7. Would the stuff that u mentioned apply to this model as well? Also, u mentioned about upgrading it, what upgrades can u do to it(including the marlin as well)?
@@stephancobb13 A wheelset would be the most expensive upgrade minimum $200. But will make the bike feel much higher end with this upgrade. I'd focus on the cheaper stuff like, derailleur and cranks first.
Hey thanks for the information . I'm 170 centimetres tall and have ordered 18.5 frame version yesterday. Do you think 17.5 would be more appropriate???
Im 1,68 cm i have not decided if I will go for 15.5 or 17.5 but 18.5 would definitly be to big so I would say the 17,5 would be right for you but that's personal preference. But I wouldn't buy the 18,5 for me way to big.
Well, I tried both before ordering one. Gap between the frame and my groin area was more on 18.5 while resting my feets on ground though compared to 17.5 , strange :) . I think it has something to do with the frame dynamics. Tomorrow I will be getting the beauty. Will update you guys.
@@basucoco Well I just got mine today 😃 i tried the 15.5 and 17.5... The 15.5 had a good standover heigh for me but it felt to small overall and i really wanted the 29er because it fits more for what I ride. So I bought the 17.5 today and i just took it for the first little Tour and it's great. Frame heigh is probably a little high but I can stand over it with both feet flat on the ground ( it is pretty close to my balls tho😂). But it's pretty much irrelevant when riding. Just feels right.
@@JRock-vf4fw Go with the highest option your budget allows. It's much cheaper to buy the higher priced bike with better components as compared to upgrading the lower spec.
The Excalibur usually comes with better components compared to the Marlin. I have a Marlin 6, but I would recommend the Excalibur. Only reason I chose the Marlin it was $200 cheaper.
I know I'm a bit late for this video so what about the Marlin 7 that any better I hope you can answer me as I was looking at that to start riding again. I'm a 6'2"girl
Not late! I think the Marlin 7 would be even better with the upgraded fork and minimal drivetrain. Not quite 1X but I like the smaller 2X setup on the 7. No doubt that it would be the right choice, especially with your height!
@@YourOwnAdventure Thank You for writing back so fast. I'm going to try one out on Saturday. Is 729.00 a good price? Any others I should try at the trek store they have a field and a track to ride on
@@ashleem1387 I think 729 is a very fair price for what you are getting. I'm not trying to sell you here, but I'd definitely look at the Roscoe 6or7 as well. It's priced at 1099 but i'm sure you could get them down a bit if you liked it. My argument for spending that little bit more is this. If you think you'll be committing long term to the sport, like any of us, you'll get the upgrading itch. On the Marlin 7 there are still necessary upgrades for better performance. The Roscoe has a more forgiving fame geometry(playful) and 27.5+ tires(more plush) and the components are pretty much bombproof from the shop. I'd at least try it out and if you love it, maybe save for another month to make up the for the extra cost. Either one you choose, I'm sure you'll be happy!
@@nukemcentral3224 Its a hard suggestion because both are not the ideal canadates but for aggressive mountain trails I'd rather be on the Talon. It has a slacker geometry and feels much more playful than the Marlin. I've tried a Talon and it feels much more like a bike that can be thrown around.
Just wonderin coz i'm a 5'10" guy and i tried the marlin 6 meduim frame 17.5 and 29er wheel. It feels like too big for me or its just normal? I really like the style of the marlins
as much as i like how much this bike looks, I cant pull the trigger on it. And I mean I LOVE the green one look, except there is a major major major downfall, It is a mountain bike with a city rider drivetrain. the Shimano Tourney is not MTB rated, and that is from Shimano themselves. I dont get why teh hell trek did this. Int the same pricerange, the Giant Talon 3 has a significantly better drivetrain, that is actually MTB rated in comparison, and all other components are equally as good if not better. Only problem, is i like how the marlin 5 looks much more so than the Talon 3...
Brennon Fain yea i know. It such a damn good looking bike and for normal non abusive riding im sure it would do fine. Can always upgrade components if you need to ever. It has a good frame

I would agree that it would be a great bike. With simple upgrades the Marlin turns into a XC beast. You'll probably have an easier time moving to a bike like the Marlin or similar XC bike since you're riding a hybrid currently. Have fun!
A better derailleur and a better fork will probably be perfect for trails that are a bit rougher
Damn, your camera really wants to focus on that wheel in your closet!
Just finished the video, it was really fantastic and super helpful. Was hoping to do some light jumps with this, it's kind of too bad that it can't handle this. Maybe I'll spend a bit more and get a Vitus Nucleus when the time comes. Thank you!
Tourney groupset is meant for city and REALLY soft XC, it probably flexed too much and got caught in the spokes
Tony Caluda the lower end tourneys like the tx and tz will be more for city
I like the mix of Vlog and trail footage. The main thing is you are having fun and progressing. Also I'm heading up Wednesday to surf Sebastian or New Smyrna. I might be riding de Leaon or the swamp. Not sure yet but I'll be up there Wednesday through Friday. Cheers
That's what it's all about! Let me know what you decide. I have off on Wednesday so I can link up. Waves should be fun and the trails will be riding nice!
Will do 👍
Thinking about getting a Marlin7 I love the paint and Trek seems solid I have never had a bike from bike shop Sears and Walmart for a 50 some old year old dude it should hold up good.
Get a Roscoe
Best bike for the $ by far !!! Love this bike 29 er is great just get used to it over all takes time you wanna do jumps and tricks get a BMx ! Safe riding !
The Giant talon is far better for the money.

Informative asf. Exactly what I was looking for . Thanks for doing this.
You are very welcome. Thanks for tuning in. Glad it helped!
@nottakumi1226 the Marlin is a great bike still!
I've just purchased this bike and this video is very understandable! I definitely love this bike so far!
BTW the 2019 Marlins look amazing....
adjust the rear derailleur and make sure to lube the drive train and it's going to shift like a new bike :), or just visit any bike shop and they will adjust it for you
@@leonex606 thankyou
I would recommend giving it a thorough cleaning and ensuring the chain never gets dry. I know it's disapproved of, but I'd clean it and shoot the front and rear derailer with WD 40.
Try adjusting the derailleur
Love the channel bro! I'm new to biking (last regular cycling done about 15 years back) and confused between BTWIN Rockrider 540 vs Marlin 5, or if both r not that good then I can opt for Marlin 7 (27.5), which one would you suggest?? I'm 5'7, and taking up cycling as new recreational sport and ride around nature trail, forests, ocassional off roading.
Sorry I didn't get back to you. What did you decide on?
I believe the Marlins are better than B'twin Rockrider series.
No offense for B'twin though. It's a popular brand in India too.
This bike with the tires Bontrager xr1 2.00 is very fast!
Francisco González Flores definitely will agree
Funny, for those who would ask you why you're doing a video on such a bike. Just finished watching a video where some kid with a $160 Bike outpaced/performed an experienced rider with a $6,000 bike on a very crazy rough trail. Thank you for doing review on this bike though. Appreciate it.
Right, It's not really about the bike. And any frame can be made into a super XC beast if you want to throw money into it. This is a great bike to start with on a budget and it'll ride anything.....If you want it to! Thanks for watching and the positive feedback!!!
The small frame marlins are actually 27.5
And the small frame ones have a different fork it has 80 mm instead of 100
Newer marlin 5s have a better version of the tourney
@@YourOwnAdventure cost wise it might be cheaper to just get the 7? The 6 is 659, the 7 799 but then the initial purchase is 140 more plus tax

I have a 2019 Trek Marlin 6 and I've been sheashing it nonstop and its held up great on blues/blacks.
That's good to hear! They are a great bike. Any plans of upgrades?
It's really hard to find a video for my bike (2019 Trek Marlin 4), but I guess this is close enough. Also, Trek's owner's manual says you shouldn't drop from any higher than 2 feet on the Marlin series (or any of their hard tails)
Eh its fine
My bike is a giant atx 2 and it’s a entry level hardtail as well and I jump it of way higher than two feet and it’s fine
It’s okay pretty much just a rebranded 2017 trek marlin 5
Will a marlin 7,8 or a roscoe 7,8 hold up to this type of aggressive riding?

@@YourOwnAdventure wtf. Then what kind of bike?
@@MrArjay123 Something in the $1k range would be best.
The Trek Marlin 5 or the REI Co-op DRT 1.1?
Since I wont be using it on anything other than busy streets it should last me long term unlike you right?

ill hit u with the one two mayweather I’m looking to get the Marlin 7 to replace my Kona Lanai.......which is 15 years old!!! To be fair, I have not done high jumps, but it’s been on some tough trails. I can vouch for the strength of the Kona frame. In the UK, many of the companies that rent bikes in the mountains use Trek Marlins, because they are sooo reliable.
Hello , are the tektro brakes good ,like when you are riding at 25 kmph and stopping do you feel the power and modulation of the brakes?!
Yes I feel they are adequate. If you haven't ridden anything else it wont matter much. But to compare, I have ridden several budget bikes and these feel the best out of any stock brakes. I believe the 2019 comes with Hydrolic as well.
Yeah they are great
So what bikes you would recommend under 700-750 USD/

It takes more skill to ride a hardtail than a full sus.

as much as i like how much this bike looks, I cant pull the trigger on it.
ARXDMOS literally bought the marlin 5 today because of that reason.. I was in my lbs and compared the two. The looks won it for me..
Brennon Fain yea i know. It such a damn good looking bike and for normal non abusive riding im sure it would do fine. Can always upgrade components if you need to ever. It has a good frame
