    4th Gen maxima's are bulletproof...still use it 10 years later, got it during high school. This is a time when Nissan was at its peak in its engineering and build quality.

    These 4th gen Maximas were probably best vehicle ever. I had a friend that had a 95 with 700,000 miles and still ran perfect. These cats are already becoming sought after and will go up in value in years to come. The build quality was incredible by Nissan during this time. Even the headlights were glass on the 1995's! Hold onto that car and drive it forever.

    I've owned a 96 GXE for 21 years. It now has 220,000 miles. I've had mostly the same problems yours had. Biggest problem was a leaking water pump. It's inside the engine and driven by the timing chain. Shops wanted $3000. I think my friend and I spent 10 hours replacing it. Latest problem is a bad knock sensor. Its location makes it difficult to replace. My car doesn't sit outside much, so the original paint, body, and interior are still in great shape.

      I did the water pump on my 99 I30 a few years ago, it was tough. took me 6-7 hours and lucky thanks to my small hands I was able to do it without taking off the motor mount. Mine currently 2-4 times a year has the engine check light code with o2 sensor and knock sensor so I just clear it out and move on. currently at 205k miles

    You're the MAN! You turned that car into a very dependable daily driver! I just bought a '98 Nissan Max, no GE or anything..just "Maxima," but it has a 5 spd, and all tge options you have, except heated seats! 😠 You've replaced lots of parts, however, I don't believe you need to change your tranny fluid so often, like maybe every 20k miles or maybe even more! Great job, and thank you for giving me these same Great ideas for MY machine! 👍😉🤘

    You picked a great car with a great engine - my family owned one of these and we put over 200,000 miles on it. Actually it was the same color and trim as you have here minus heated seats. Extremely reliable and very fun to drive. I’m not sure if you really talked about it in the video but do you find it fun to drive?

      Oh nice! I do think it’s still fun to drive considering the age of the car and it’s still pretty quick.

      i have the 1997 Maxima Gle in my backyard for sale, it has 162,000 miles give or take a few, it does have a very slight valve cover leak on the rear bank , thats why i parked it and bought another car, i was afraid of a fire as it was dripping a little oil on the exhaust, i will let this car go for anything over 500.00 it has an excellent engine and transmission, could use a paint job but interior is fine never wrecked.

    I also bought this as my first car, I bought it back in late jan for 2000$ cad. Its dark blue on the outside and black leather interior. I got a better condition seat from the junkyard. I had to replace a lot of mechanical parts though😂😂 Now it’s finally reliable after 2000$ cad of work

      Yep my car also broke down because of the alternator. Mine was the Airbag light came on, then the ABS light came on and it started to shake like crazy then it died

    • @martins4118
      @martins4118  2 года назад +2

      Yup junkyard is where to get a lot of parts for old cars like this. And yea mine did the exactly same thing when it broke down after the alternator failed.

    I've got a 99 Maxima with 196k miles currently. It has been super solid for the last year and a half. I've put about 17k miles on it. I did replace the struts when I bought it, pads/rotors, CV axles, tie rods. Other than that, I've done oil changes every 3k miles and its been excellent. Last week my hvac mode blend door went out, but that looks like a pretty easy fix.
