    Good job with the brake light. I don't think if everything is working properly that you should have to put that key in the slot. I think these cars have a proximity key.

      If the battery is low in the fob, you'll have to insert it into the fobgina for the car to detect it.

    Welcome to the club, Mike. It's happened to me so many times, fuses are the first thing I check when there is a problem and then I recheck them if the problem continues. Looks like wonderful car. Tail lights moved it into the present time. More road trip goodness coming to the channel and Lola and Lucky make every video a better. Thank you. Like, Share and Subscribe, Folks and we can keep the greatness going.

    MWM, you don't have to put the key in that slot to start it every time. Change the battery and you should be good to go. If you are close to the door it should have keyless entry if you push that black button on the handle.

    Hey. It's all good Mike.
    You fixed it and it didn't take major money or major labor, like dropping the transmission or pulling a engine to do so. It's a win in my book. Get you a back bumper and work on the paint a little more, and that will be a fun car to cruise around in. Love it.

    We had a 2005 Maxima and loved it the 2007 came out so we traded big mistake that CVT Transmission was trash we went through 4 transmissions before we finally gave up and traded it for a 2011 Nissan Pathfinder SV 4 x 4 we now have 155,000 miles other than routine maintenance it has done great.

    I was wondering if it's a big thing to unscrew the spoiler from the trunk lid, it would ease the detailing a lot. But the highlight is to pull the dent, there's a tree on you yard that screams 'I'm nature's frame machine' 😁😁

    Mike, same issue happened to my car .... the entertainment unit + GPS system didn't work just over night. I checked the fuse box in the engine compartment as well as in the trunk but nothing ! I started to wondering if problem was the Amplifier, but not. Later on somebody told me there is a fuse box near the steering wheel and found it was caused by a bad fuse. I changed the fuse and everything was just fine !

  • @markp2865
    @markp2865 Год назад

    The question is why was the fuse blown? It was probably a bad brake switch or the rear brake lights, which you replaced. If you had just replaced the fuse, the brake switch or light may have blown the fuse when you are on the highway. The Maxima is looking good!

    Crap happens sometimes. I would not have thought to check the fuse first ether. i would have checked the shifter lockout first (I had to replace it on a car in the past) for why it would not come out of park and then checked the brake switch for why the lights did not come on as I have never come across a blown fuse stopping the brake lights. of course after thinking about it, i think the fuse blew due to the original tail light being damaged and possibly shorting out. Well at least it is all fixed so after the bumper is back on it will be a nice everyday driver

      Back when Nissans regular key ignitions, if the battery went dead it’s lock the key in the ignition. To get it out you’d have to “jump” the car. Wiggling and pulling also did the trick. It’s not a Nissan if it doesn’t do these things.

    New buffing pads are a good thing but if you load up a pad take a Phillips screwdriver to the face of it to clear up the excess compound. They make a buffer spur for that reason too. Even a real nice one that has an air gun attached to a spur that works the best. SAVES MONEY BIGLY!

    I have a 2001 maxima I have been thru 4 brake lights switches. I had a 2 bad parts (not to self don’t get one off eBay made in China . The one that worked was from rockauto
    And made in Italy
    Watch out for CVT transmission problems. Nissan (Jatco) is notorious for bad automatic transmissions.
    That’s the one thing that is forcing me to get rid of my 2001. Which is normal stepped automatic trans. With 243k miles. Their manual transmissions are bulletproof.

    It's a total coincidence I spent two days fighting my expedition with the same issue but I was a bit more unlucky than you I had taken my whole center console apart after swapping the brake switch. me thinking it was a solenoid issue and yes I checked the fuse panel that sits in the foot panel on the passager side as the manual indicated fuse 43 but later found out that under the hood there was another fuse block and it also had a fuse 43 and it was also blown. it was also a low-profile micro fuse and of course, when I figured it out the parts stores were closed already had to wait to the next day change the fuse bingo brake lights worked, and the truck shifted again. who knew a little fuse and ruin your day
