Finally I found a video where instructors just show us the pose and I don't have to look at them how they are breathing for 2 minutes until they show us another pose. Thank you
this is real yoga unlike asthanga.power..etc.which just strain the muscles..these above asanas are for physical.. spiritual growth..keep the muscles supple..healthy..
Gooki Kumar I agree. The best part of sivananda is your control over the autonomic nervous system. Since holding these poses is relatively stressful, learning to relax while in them gives you a greater ability to recognize stress and control your reaction to it.
You can't do Asthanga yoga doesn't make it bad they are mostly for people who have have attained them highest form of yoga, it might look difficult but if you practice you don't feel any strain simple as that
basanta, actually breathing isn't so important, you already know how to do it:) It's over-emphasized, just breath in a controlled and comfortable manner, and do the poses with Ahimsa in mind. Cheers.
Before the asanas you need to warm-up with Pranayama and Sun Salutations. We practice headstand first because of energetic and spiritual reasons. We finish on our feet at the end of the practice.
@@SivanandaYogaFarm Thank you very much for the answer. It would be useful to have that indication visible when opening the video. I know someone who started every day with headstand and he had a lot of pain on the shoulders and got moments of anger, just for no reason. He changed his practice and both things were gone. Namaskar
The purpose of this particular video is to show the 12 basic asanas. Here's an example of a full Sivananda class: ruclips.net/video/iUKjuni-6l8/видео.html
Crow pose doesn’t require strength or flexibility. It is about balancing and concentration. So, it is a basic pose. It becomes very easy when you understand your body proportions and weight distribution. To stay in this pose longer, you need to develop focus of the mind. Head stand is also a basic posture. Proper preparation starts with shoulder strengthening exercises like dolphins. In this posture, approximately 75%-80% of your weight should be born by your shoulders, and remaining support is from head/neck. It is easy if you strengthen shoulders first, then balancing in half head stand, followed by full headstand. Hence, it is included in the basic sequence. Not only that but also because of the benefits it provides, sooner one uses it, the better.
I don't know anything about Sivananda yoga apart from what Wikipedia has told me. Do you normally move through the postures so quickly or do you usually hold them for a set number of breaths?
SuperEriberry There is more time between the postures. A typical class with the 12 basic postures, pranayama, and initial and final relaxation takes about 2 hours.
Just a question, please? Why do the teachers not hold the pose? I thought it was important to be in the asana and breath? Or is this video simply showing the progression? I also did not know Crow was one of the 12 basic postures!
For the sake of time, we are not holding. But of course when you practice, please hold each asana from 30 seconds - 3 minutes. Crow or Peacock is a balancing pose.
it can vary between each pose and also between how you feel within yourself. I like to think of it in terms of holding for three breaths ..or five breaths.. or maybe ten breaths..the focus should be on breaths..not the clock..for example you might hold locust for just 5 breaths but the seated twist for longer maybe 10 breaths. if you prefer 'time' then 30 seconds works well for a lot of held poses..
Very nice yoga

How come a sequence starts with a headstand?! By everything it was taught to me, this is really dangerous. Confused...

Pls let me know. Thanks
Can I do all this posture as i have high blood pressure.
yes you can, but go according to feel. also take doctor's best magnesium. It will lower your blood pressure almost immediately.
@@Moniemon7 thanks a lot
The inversions are counter-indicated for High blood pressure. You can try a modification such as legs up the wall. Or just hold for a short time.
