4 years ago I overdosed on heroin and Xanax. I was in the ICU for a week with aspiration pneumonia, in the hospital together almost 3 weeks. I could hardly move due to severe muscle damage. Until a year and a half ago - that's when I began practicing yoga on a regular basis - I'd been thinking for years that I always would have to live with backpain for the rest of my life. Now, at 47, I've been free from pain for several months. But the physical benefit is just a nice side effect...what happens mentally and spiritually when you get deeper into it is the most exciting trip one can imagine.

+Sydney Treece You go! And don't ever give it up.
this comment kinda gave me hope. i’m 14... i hope i can have as much control snd flexibility as her :)
Sydney Treece ive done yoga for years and still am a beginner. I don't care I learn all the time and love and enjoy the practice. It's alright😀💖
Sydney Treece That makes me very hopeful! I’m going to start with my 13 year old too! Thanks
I wish I would have started at a young age like you, I'm only 28 years old but it's still a very big difference at 30 your body starts to slow down.
You have made the right choice to start exercising at a young age. This will keep you looking good and feeling healthy in your older years.
I wish I had done the same, you have a great mom👍
A Ya - It's truly a shame that Laruga doesn't stir a deep emotional sense of gratitude within you. Time, effort & devotion is what brought her to the state of excellence that she's achieved. Let her level of accomplishment motivate you to be the best that you can be. She's breathtaking!
Exactly 😩
+Joel Koppel I agree with Joel! That's what I'm seeing... makes my heart sing!
Well said Joel. Beautiful, disciplined, dignified, inspiring.
This is an outstanding example of the human form, being a form of Beautiful.
Single most inspirational experience watching Laruga practice.
Have practiced every yoga style there is (except Bikram that is) - nothing calms my mind like Ashtanga
The physical strength and flexibility that come with it is a welcome side effect
With consistent practice, you get to a stage where it almost feels as if you are a snake shedding your old skin and body for a new one
I've started yoga after watching this. Thank you from Russia!
Олег Корнюшин still doing it?
just started doing yoga. this is what I strive for. and I will get there. eventually.
Nika Sandoval you can do it.❤️
Salutes
me too!!!
Probably not. She has the strength of a professional gymnast (perhaps she is one), and possibly matching genetics.
This is not something you can do out of only hard training and sheer will (although they are essential), especially if you're already a bit old and (naturally) weakened.
Nika Sandoval did you get there?
Imagine accidentally going to a yoga class that's something like this when you just wanted to go do some cat-cow poses.
Lol
😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
LOL! Felt this
lol
It would be a dream... :c
this vedio brings me to tears, the impossible is possible, after all all matters is the growth and being with yourself at the present
oh.my.god! seriously, does she have to make it look soooo easy LOL. she is absolutely amazing. the strength, the control, the flexibility is just jaw dropping
IKR
My boyfriend said yoga is "just a lot of stretching and breathing exercises" so I sent him this
Emma Willaume haha
He ain't wrong though. Many of the more accessible forms of yoga concentrate heavily on breathing and stretching.
@@billieshomies8381 hey can u help me?
@@arthurtheaardvark13 I can't agree more. It is more accessible and benefitial. Though I have great respect to dedication of all yogi who practice Ashtanga.
Yoga girls are so strong
Laruga, u r a perfect yogini. only some one who
has acquired complete control of mind and body can perform these intricate asanas with such fluidity. I bow before u with deep reverence .
Namaste, I am grateful that the universal, all embracing and ancient wisdom of India and Hinduism ( yoga and meditation) is being appreciated and adapted all over the world now...
This is the result of pure dedicated practice for a longer duration. Thanks for being the inspiration to many.
Every time I watch this it reignited my drive and intention to keep going and never stop practicing, no matter how difficult or slow rolling my progress feels.
never seen such a beautiful yoga. smooth, effortless and inspiring
Laruga, awesome! A lot of hard work and consistency is visible in your achievement. All the best!
Do you know when I feel sad and down, I come to watch it over and over again! Laruga, you inspire me to against the odds (whatever they are!)!
Absolutely beautiful!! However i must disagree with the impossible part, hard work, devotion to this practice (tapas), pure intention, and honoring where you are at each stage of your practice (santosha) this is very achievable and I assure you that the internal journey that is experienced during the process far exceeds the physical. May all of you be filled with infinite Love and Wisdom Namaste
Wise Words Namaste
David Bonessi
Very well said and so very true. Words of wisdom.
Namaste.
David Bonessi Personally, I don't think it literally means its impossible. I interpret as what seems humanly impossible is actually possible. That once we explore further from our comforts, we learn that the only thing limiting us is our mind.
Eunice Santiago Precisely! I agree that this video highlights what most of us would deem very difficult - see impossible- but as anyone who maintains a regular yoga practice can attest to, your body and your mind will open up in ways you never imagined possible- that is the true power of yoga- we begin to see our infinite potential and clear all obstacles in our way. Namaste:-)
I had three disc prolapses (the 1st at my 30th birthday...seemed like an omen: you're getting old now, dude.) over a a period of 10 years, even though I've always been engaged in sports of various kinds: judo, basketball, bicycling.
Poetry in motion! Truly inspiring!
The postures were simply superb. Don't how many years of rigoreous practice she has done to achieve this perfection. Simply adorable
So fluid! I’ve been practicing consistently for 3 months now and it’s an amazing transformation to see your body’s flexibility and strength grow.
The most beautiful motion series I have ever seen!
I almost cried. I have been doing Vinyasa yoga since mid-June and I know how extremely difficult this is. This is absolutely beautiful.
Most beautiful practice I’ve ever seen. For the first time in 9 years I am inspired to take my practice to the next level! Truly beautiful
The feeling of peace I've gotten from this video is something I can't explain. It's one of the most beautiful things I've ever seen. Ashtanga is now something I aspire to practice
Watching this literally made me cry - and that's a HARD thing to do. You made me reflect on why I started yoga and watching you just sparked even more inspiration to continue my practice everyday. Thank you. That was beautiful.
I started doing yoga back in October of 2019. And I am still trying to learn basics. My warrior 2 pose are making me proud. My goal is as much physical as it is emotional.
❤❤
damn... And I'm here struggling to put my heels on the floor while doing a downward facing dog 😑
😂 That hurts like getting hit in the ankle with a scooter
Comparison is the thief of joy

Excellent video, thank you, keeps me practicing on my level. Just started at the age of 58, it is a miracle mixture of pain and development.
Well done to you for doing it. 53 year s young here, started twice a week huffing and puffing. Now almost daily practice, inversion amongst others things keeps your journey interesting. Sending love x
Wow, this is four years ago. I am thrilled to know what more she can do now.
How beautiful! Art, beauty, flow, life. I am mesmerized by this, by the possibilities of the human body, thankyou
My tummy is always in the way for most poses 😅
Taylu Green ditto!!
Haha same!
Same and I am not very overweight but cannot for instance do launch by tacking my leg to my chest ...I also have to press the leg forward with my hand...well, one day ...maybe.
Same!
Mines as well 😭
at any level yoga is amazing
This is so beautiful! I have just started practicing yoga! I’m not very good but I’m not giving up! Thank u for inspiring me today.
There is no such thing as being good or bad at yoga. It's not about what postures you can achieve, it's about connecting breath with movement and approaching it with an open heart. Namaste
Ur absolutely right!!!! Thank u
Namsate puppy
The sheer beauty of this brings tears to my eyes.
Легко, красиво, непринуждённо!!! Просто класс!!!
It looks beautiful and so easy. I consider myself fit and already on the first pose i realize that i can't even reach my feet let alone flat my hands on the floor.. Plus the following 3000 tricks she does.. Inspiring. Unbelievable.
Wonderful and interesting.

Good morning, Ms Panj and the rest. Very on this topic
I never thought watching yoga moves would make me emotional. Im literally in tears 😭
I´m almost crying. That´s absolutely stunning and beautiful. Love it.
Poetry in motion , absolutely beautiful.
Beautifull.. no words to express the admiration I have .. What an impression and inspiration this video gave me..
Also.. my compliments to the filmmaker.
one of the best videos I've ever seen. I can watch this 1000000 times in a loop. She's amazing
Wow! That control , balance & Grace! Simply stunning
If poetry and athleticism had a union ... love ❤ it!!!!!!!
This is quite honestly the most beautiful and captivating practice I’ve ever seen! Thank you for sharing 🙏🏻🙏🏻
For some reason I feel disappointed and motivated at the same time
I get u.... disappointed at the state of which u are motivated to the potential u could be
Accurate....
I know about motivation, but for which reason u get disappointed can we know please
@@raha2020 I think you achieve a lot of no need to go to close to Larunga mam, but what about US but we are not beginners, we also do do well in some extent but not as perfect as you, are you doing Pranayam or not
Foursome reason is a good one.
I can't even do the crow pose without falling flat on my face. This is amazing
I'm trying to learn crow! I am so scared bc I keep falling forward, then I over-correct& flying falling backwards, LOL. Have you mastered it since last posting this?
leave that i m still stuck on handstands :"((
Oh my God I am practicing for several years before to become certified teacher. Until now it is hard....
It took me 8 month to hold up my feet for 1 second... dont give up!!!!
I just finished a basic yoga routine and struggled through it. I got out of practice due to life circumstances, including a back injury. Now in my early 30s, I had an emotional moment over the aging of my body and how much more difficult it is now to get to the same place I was in my 20s, and how much more prone to injury I am now. Then clicked this video and immediately looked up Laruga's age.. at least 10 yrs older than me and with a body this strong.. I found this video inspiring, not discouraging. Thank you for sharing
you can be healthy and younger looking, I turned 30 couple of days ago and am a refugee i have lots of stress but I'm practicing yoga for 14 years and am vegan for almost 6 years . People give me 22 years of age ❤️
Incredible. A loop of this video belongs in the Louvre.
this is the most beautiful flow i've ever seen! that body control is incredible, hope i will get there someday
Beautiful - like a dance! The body control she has is amazing and inspiring. Makes it look effortless! Kudos to your ability Laura!
Awesome....
If she's doing it...it's not impossible...she's awesome.
this is INSANE! I love it
I’ve never seen anyone perform yoga so beautifully! So inspiring! ❤
I'm 56 and am having enough issues with downward facing dog and getting my feet flat. She's an inspiration and shows what the human body is capable of.
I hear that! I've been practicing yoga on and off since my 20s (I'm 43) and never could get my feet flat. I now know I never will... I have abnormally short Achilles, and simply have to do the best I can with what I've got. So many poses that I need to modify, regardless of strength and flexibility. But hey... it's the journey, enjoy it!
She is absolutely beautiful! I admire her strength and dedication.
I feel fit just watching this 🙏😂
Goals! I am new to yoga, but this is my goal. To push my body to the limits and feel at peace. She is simply amazing!
Are you there yet? :p
Every move is more delicate than the other. Simply beautiful.
AI had the pleasure of having Laruga as a guest teacher at the studio where I practiced. I found her to be a quiet, strong and humble teacher.
Lot of hard work and sacrifice required in order to attain such perfection in yoga....
It's Amazing. It takes a long time to make the body so soft and beautiful.
She’s beautiful, she’s amazing, and I totally became emotional watching her. Thank you for sharing!
Muito lindo!! Ela faz parecer tão fácil...quanta dedicação e disciplina!😊
she is like a feather in the wind
I got goosebumps. This is beautiful! My Yoga goal is to be like you!

I am glad that the ancient wisdom of INDIA is being adapted all over the world now..
Beautiful!! At :34 it really helps beginners to understand what instructors mean when they say 'step or hop to the front of your mat'. Ideally it should be this beautiful float thing that she does.. amazing!
this is posture practice as gymnastic but the yoga which is from ancient time help peoples in recovery of mentally problems is beyond of all that stretching. as I studied in ancient books about yoga. yogi ram india
AMaeTV and I’ve never bothered to step actually, cause what’s in a single step?, now I see what it’s about; thanks
She is amazing!!!! I want to be like her someday!!! I just have to start yoga...😅
