Mannnnnnn, I am a closet DnD lore nerd. Something I have been complaining about is lack of really detailed demon lore. So glad the algorithm showed me this. Subbed.
It would be super cool if you could put timestamps into the video so I can find what I need when I come back to it during world building. Otherwise, great video!
I don't vibe with these beings being the same beings after promotion, since they forget all their memories and stuff, they're more of a growth medium for a higher Fiendish lifeform, which feels like it goes against the self centered ideals of Fiends. In my universe, the lower planes are relatively the same, but Fiendish species are normal lifeforms in a way, who produce their same kind, with a few being able to metamorphose into an adult form, like imps turning into spined Devils over time, and eventually losing their wings and becoming barbed Devils, while Lemures and Nupperibos are essentially the same things, Larvae grown large enough to develop a fertile presence for Baatezu, the more larvae and such promordial Fiendish creatures, the more power a realm and Fiendish species can hold. Despite being relatively natural in their lifecycles, fiends undergo reincarnation as their first evolutions in a Fiendish strain following death, with all beginning as a larvae born from the plane itself, though there's particular larvae for each species. It's hard to tell if these were all mortal sould before they showed up in their planes, but they are definitely powered by harvested souls. Some Fiends aren't as bad as others, they have actual cultures, just brutal and alien ones. Fiends' appearances are generally all very different due to magical and cosmic mutation, but they're usually able to tell what species a particular Fiendish individual is. Due to their cosmic natures, Fiends can reproduce with mortal species, and these half Fiends are likely to be even stronger following their mortal deaths, so they are seen as powerful prospects for soul warping, they're like an extra espresso shot. Fiendish species do have different origins though, only being unified in that they're extraplanar cosmic alien soul mutants, otherwise some are artificial, some are natural, some aren't even really alive at all.
@@randallmarcum9998 I think demons have a better design alot of times but the devil's concept of tricking people and being lawful is far more interesting than just being chaotic
You seem to rely pretty heavily on 4th edition sources, but a lot of 4th edition lore was (re)written with a strong disregard for what came before it, and for that reason a lot of 4e stuff has been "stealth retconned" in 5e. Because you don't seem to address this in the video, I feel like I can't be sure if specifically the fiend lore from 4e is still canon or not.
I wouldn't say I rely on it necessarily. It may just be more obvious in the video as it's distinctly different to other sources and there was a good bit of generic demon lore in 4e, and I also like to point it out to make sure that everyone knows which information comes from the notorious 4e. As for the stealth recon, I didn't want to completely exclude the lore even if it both rewrote earlier lore and was itself rewritten. I think it had some interesting factors from a stand alone perspective. And I mentioned in the beginning that a lot of the lore was contradictory. Besides, we could canonically write off 4e lore as the muttering of the followers of the Chained God.
Obscure bit of information This is some real deep loer right here The reason demons is because without that ability they would be completely incapable of using the astral projection spell the spell is pivotal for higher-level demons As it's known that they make ready use of this spell in fact the first level of the abyss is littered with iron fortresses of sleeping demons that are astral projecting as is one of the only ways they can freely travel the multiverse allowing them untethered access to a myriad of prime material realms this is why they have the ability

Might have caught the algorithm dude, subbed.
Excellent video bro. Thank you sir. 👏👏👏
Thank you! I put a lot of work into it so I'm glad you enjoyed.
Yous a lore pimp spectacular
Well done bro. Lots of work put in here.
Thank you!

I just found out how to do this recently, I've been meaning to get to t! Thanks for the reminder, I'll get it done soon.
@@nicthedm7650 Thanks man! Just binged your entire demon series this week during my commute. It was super helpful for fleshing out my campaign!
Great damn video

Demons are far cooler than devils!
Care to fight a blood war over it?
Pshhht. Devils forever!
I mean literally, forever, there is no escape...
I think they're equally cool and their never ending war makes them even more interesting
That’s just like, your opinion man…🙂

You deserve more subs i hope i can help you get there. Subbed
@11:22 did he say “Zolit”?
Went back to check, it was the Zovvut.
Where is the abyssal chicken
Strangely enough I didn't hear anything about them in the generic demon lore.

@nicthedm7650 that's how I choose to write off Fizban's lore that only 15 dragon species exist. It's Bahamut propaganda
