Until that 5th inning, I was thinking that the Dodgers were destined to perform the biggest choke by blowing a 3-0 series lead, given the Dodgers' history of being on the bad side of history at times, particularly against the Yankees.

Totally! But it was actually cool they had the same seats for game 5 and the stadium gave them to a young kid with cancer. Pretty positive spin on such a stupid situation.
Yeah, those jerks basically assaulted Mookie to rip the ball out of his glove. That was far worse than an overexuberant Dodgers fan reaching out to catch a fly ball before it could bounce off the wall and be fielded. And that fan was immediately remorseful, realizing he'd screwed up - whereas those two Yankees fans were pretty proud of what they did. It only confirmed the club's status as the baseball team I loathe the most and will always root against.

As a bandwagon fan who only started paying attention during the playoffs, I would never have known Aaron Judge was supposed to be some superstar if it weren't for the announcers saying it every time he's on screen.
He's good during the regular season, just not during the playoffs. Although, he did better batting this season than previous ones (post season). He can help your team get to the playoffs. After that, who knows.
Gerrit Cole didn't even bother to hustle to 1st base. What are you saving your legs for? Do you have a marathon tomorrow? Aaron Judge dropping the ball is just human error, same with the throwing mistake at 3rd base. But Gerrit Cole choosing to not run to 1st base is a decision that he will regret, that's just being lazy. What stopped you from hustling to 1st base? Unbelievable.
Hey, 300 Million Dollars is just NOT enough payment for me to cover first base. Judge, hold my beer, watch me NOT catch an easy fly ball. 300 Million Dollars is just not enough in payment too. Stanton says the same, that's why I am a below Mendoza Line season hitter. 300 million Dollars is a mere bag of shells. Mookie Betts, hey fellas hold my beer, and watch me HUSTLE down first base on a squib ground ball. That's why I'm an M.V.P.
@@alliegal45 I've never seen that in a professional game, let alone a playoff game, let alone in a world series. The pitcher always makes a b-line to 1st base no matter what. Unless the 1st baseman calls him off or unless he sees him running to beat the runner. This is actually taught in little league up and this is the first time I've seen this happen. I've never seen it in a playoff game. It's not common because pitchers are taught to cover 1st no matter what unless called off by the 1st baseman.
@@quiz.games1 yeah, Verdugo looked so overwhelmed at that final AB, and we were swinging at EVERYTHING in the 9th. They were backs against the wall trying to grab victory back from their fumble. When we play well, our players work so fluidly with each other, I think with more experience as a team we can definitely make WS next year. Believe me Dodgers know how an error can turn a game around..went through that 3 years in a row. They just persevered this series. Didn't take for granted the chances they got. Not only Cole but Rizzo gave absolutely zero effort despite being a fraction of the distance to the bag that Betts was when he fielded it. He just casually jogged towards the bag. Absolutely baffling.
I think Cole also kinda locked into his pitching and a little fatigued. He didn't wanna exhaust himself sprinting to first and prob felt a lil entitled bc he was carrying the team all series.
@@gamergoohoo They were talking about that on the broadcast. He threw 25 more pitches than he should have that inning and was probably so mentally taxed by the previous errors that when he saw a routine ground ball he was so relieved that his brain just shut down for a split second.

Awsome dude. Frank Howard monster smash to the upper deck in left off Whitey Ford. Don't forget about Johnny Padres and Ron Perranoski. Dodger fan here since I was 10 in 1968, Drysdale, Gibson, the scoreless inning streak.... etc.
I agree , so the dodgers didn't win , the yankees handed it to the dodgers. I am sure the dodgers would have felt better if they won with the yanks playing at their best
Man Cole not covering 1st base inexcusable but the 1st baseman just 4 steps away still had a chance but didn't bother to hustle , they did not deserve to win.

@@KrishnaSingh-ow1ie yeah yanks fans always be out of pocket. I just saw a jomboy video from a couple years ago where a ton of fans (not just a couple but a pretty large chunk of fans in right field) started throwing beer cans and shit at one of the opposing teams players. That was AFTER the yankees hit a walk off home run lmfao. The fact that they do that kinda thing when something good happens for their team is crazy. Literally took away the moment for their own player to enjoy celebrating his walk off lol
I was their at the dodger game and it was kind of depressing. Me and my fellow dodger fans in the left field second deck seats were in it to win it the entire game. I remember the Yankee fans behind us when we got our first hit said congratulations that’s yours only hit. We ended up scoring 5 runs and went on to win the game. In the last out of the game, those people were crying and almost every Yankee fan left the stadium in under 10 minutes. I stayed to watch the ceremony and it was awesome to see that my boy Freddy freeman get the MVP. I feel bad for the Yankees but I don’t because of all the rude and racist remarks some fans said to me and my dad. I feel so good and im happy we are world champion!
Yankees fans are to the MLB what Eagles fans are to the NFL...rude, arrogant, and SORE winners AND losers...even when they win they still behave like children. Not surprised you experienced what you did.
What's it feel like to watch the All-Star team that LA rented to win this? Is it really enjoyable? I think the Dodger players should be allowed to wear the uniforms of their real teams, that way they would be more recognizable.
Why we acting like dodger fans are innocent, their just as horrible…. They literally start looting when they win, and beat people up just for wearing different color jerseys….
Man, as long as everyone focuses solely on hitting home runs, they'll never clinch a World Series title. The manager has allowed them to do whatever they please, abandoning the small ball strategy. It's as if the entire team is operating on autopilot. I didn't see the manager contesting strikes like Joe Torre and Joe Girardi used to. Plus, I didn’t see anyone bunting or trying for base hits. Everyone is swinging for home run greatness. Even if they lose, they would have reached at least 6 or 7 games. The dodgers, on the other hand, played the classic 1900’s 2000’s yankees world series strategy.
Man, I wish I could see those 2 boneheads who were clawing at Mookie on game four sitting through this Game 5 5th inning Yankees hell, its such a fitting punishment for them lol (on top of being lifetime banned from all MLB stadiums moving forward).
he could have jogged to first and beat the runner, he has like 40 feet less distance than the batter. It's a little league play, you always go towards the bag on a grounder to 1st.
@@CalibrownsfanNo way he beats Betts. Mookie was bustin it outta the box and after throwing 25 more pitches than he should have, he was mentally & physically exhausted. @@superbob24rizzo mind was made up on doing a flip which is basic pfps. Cole was just to lazy to get down the line yeah he pitched his ass off but dude it’s the WS it’s all or nothing
I think the pitcher was expecting the other guy to run toward first and get the out. It looked like the pitcher assumed that and was running for the dugout.
Watch the replay of Cole not covering first base. He ASSUMED Rizzo had it covered and Cole was heading directly toward the dugout. Bad time for a brainfart.
And they were little league errors. Judge took his eye off the ball before it hit his mitt. Miss a throw, don't cover first or make an effort to get the out at first, catcher interference, and so on.
If you saw the ALDS and ALCS, they were making similar errors against the Royals and Guardians. But the difference is those teams weren't as strong, and the Yanks could overcome the mistakes. Dodgers demonstrated in the NLCS how many runs they can produce, and that was without errors helping them. All postseason long, sooner or later the mistakes would catch up. For the Dodgers, those bullpen games would be toss-ups. And they were. For the Yanks, the errors would eventually be their undoing.
The one time I watched the dodgers game, they lost 11-4. I played cyberpunk 2077; sure enough, dodgers catch up 5-5. Played gta v after that, and dodgers won. Am I “the curse”?!?!
I figured the Yankees would lose... but not like THAT. That inning was the very personification of the phrase "Our expectations for you were low, but HOLY F**K!!"
Mickey Mantle, in his later years, said his only regret in baseball was the 1960 World Series. He said that was the best team he ever played on. Casey Stengel caught a lot of flak for starting Art Ditmar in Game 1. But Mantle said the thing that cost them the series was lanky reliever Jim Coates' failure to cover first base on a Clemente chopper in the ninth. Mantle, who never criticized a teammate, remembered the '60 Yankees as having tremendous camaraderie, but Coates' lack of effort and awareness was unacceptable. No Yankee of that era could do that and keep the respect of his teammates.
The 1960 World Series might be the greatest series ever played. The highlight reel was insane. The Yankees outscored, outhit the Pirates, they got two complete game shutouts from Whitey Ford, and they still lost in seven games. Ironically, on the walk-off homer from the otherwise light-hitting Mazeroski.
Interesting, I never heard that story before. I read that Mantle cried after that Series loss and often described it as his lowest moment as a Yankee. I started following the Yankees in 1961 so I don't remember this Series.
Where are the Yankees fans that were singing when they were up 5-0 .... my bad, they are crying... 😢😢 Dodgers are a better team. Like Ice Cube said, "Bow down to great team than you"!!! They had Fat Joe 😂😂😂😂
I’m ngl Dodgers really aren’t that much better you know how many runs you guys got from errors. The reason you guys won so fast is bc of the Yankees own doing
@TehMarcy Absolute cope. The Dodgers outplayed them in each of their first 3 wins against the Yankees. Errors were not the difference maker for those games. The Dodgers were just better. In Game 4, Roberts (out of respect) put his worst pitchers against the Yankees just to give them a free win and save them the embarrassment of getting SWEPT in the World Series.
Had the Yankees won tonight, I really doubt Rodon would have beat Yamamoto in game 6, and likewise Schmidt for game 7 over Buehler. It was not a matter of if, but rather when the Dodgers would win the series.
I agree I don't think they would have won, but it at least would have made the WS a lot more interesting. Instead it became a rather disappointing WS because of their performance.
The thing is, you don’t know that. The closer you get to a 1-game elimination scenario, the more variables come into winning the game. No team in the WS facing a 3-0 deficit has ever made it past game 5, Yankees pushing it to game 6 would mean they had 2 straight games of momentum coming into LA and already making history. Furthermore, Aaron judge finally hit a homer so who’s to say he doesn’t start getting hot for game 6 and 7? I don’t think Yoshi would allow more than 2 runs in a hypothetical game 6, but the bullpen is so depleted that after the 6-7 innings, they may give up runs. Combined with the fact that the dodgers offense has been looking anemic, you just don’t know.
@@andrewchang7194 bro that "no team has ever made it past game 5 from 3-0 deficit" is the biggest coping method ever. We shouldn't be celebrating a team just because they win 2 games after going 0-3. It was just being overstated so constantly to give the yankees any sense of accomplishment, but when you're down 0-3 there ain't anything to celebrate about that lol. It's just another random ass baseball statistic that no one will care about in a few weeks from now.
It would make the series interesting and a little nerve recking, but it's a tall order for the Yankees to win four straight games when the other team are as hungry.
Mookie’s hustle to first compared to the Yankee’s defense blunders and assumptions really exemplified the difference between these teams. Yankees gave us some inches (quite a few to be fair) and we were just sharp and ready to take as many miles out of it as we could. Took nothing for granted, and it paid off. Phenomenal end to the series (for me 😎).

@@ForeverSweetx3 The Dodgers were suppsoed to win , after spending a billion dollars on 2 players. The Yanks came out of nowhere and didn't even make the playoffs last year.
The Yankees pitcher lost that game. His lazy inability to cover 1st base on the grounder and his coach's inept ability to pull him at the right moment to preserve the lead. It's fundamental baseball. To me it's hard to believe this exists at such a high level.
absolutely botched that one. Even though i was on the dodgers side for the ws, i still felt bad for him though. Dude was hard carrying their defense that whole game. Sucks that he's gonna be remembered for that one misplay at first more than his entire pitching run that game lol. Because even after the blunder that was the fifth inning, he pitched really good the next couple as well. If his teammates hadn't fumbled 2 routine plays that inning would've been over without anything happening.
@@ChrisPFDeVito I believe he thought the 1B was going to charge the ball instead of laying back. I also thought he was tired, and that interfered with his decision making. Doesn't matter. It has to be muscle memory. You always cover 1B until you're called off.
3-1 series, Judge finally hit one home run, and they put him right back on the gold pedestal. This was a glorious collapse to watch unfold and couldn't have happened to a more deserving team.
Cole not covering first was little league material. The fact that as he just stood there not doing his job, he had the nerve to wave for Rizzo to hurry back, just made him look even worse.
34-year old Yankees fan. At this point, I actually just feel bad for Judge. He could come win 2 World Series in a row and hit .350, but he's kind of always going to be remembered as a bum when it counts. Stanton gets all the hate in the world from most Yankees fans, when he's regular-season-Judge in the postseason. It was Stantober, but the rest of the team let us down. Good for you, Dodgers, fair-play.
They would have. The National League was just better this year. The NLDS was the real Series, IMO. Padres took two straight on the Dodgers and forced them into elimination. Every series after got a little easier. Many actually said the Padres were the best team in baseball, despite not winning the division.
The Yankees have had horrible fundamentals all postseason and they reared their ugly head tonight. Dodgers took advantage and never looked back. Overall I don’t think this’ll go down as an all time classic World Series
That's because their manager is horrible horrible fundamentals and laziness fielding is a direct reflection of the management and coaching Boone needs to go I've been saying it for years even when they first hired him the guy never coached anything. It buddy like me going to race formula 1 and getting a ride in a Ferrari or a McLaren with a little practice I think I do okay considering I had one of the two fastest cars.
It’s a classic Yankees have never blown a lead like that in their own stadium Most people had a gut feeling Dodgers would take it the way game one ended. That was mind blowing.
Rizzo could've beat Betts had he went with some urgency. He barely trotted towards the bag. Wow. I also don't understand why people make such a big deal about a starter coming in and pitching 1 inning like it's some miracle.
Read a whole lot of anti-Judge comments these past few hours. Come now Yankees fans, he's been your best player this season and although he dropped an easy fly ball it's not like he was the only one to blame for that catastrophic collapse. Baseball is not an individual sport, you win and lose as a team....
Well said. Fans or hatersjust find it easy to find someone to take the whole fall. But for real, Yankees just count on several players to win game in post season. Where Dodgers have all their players, offense, defense, pitchers contribute and help the team win the title.

@@garyt19651 I keep sports talk in the now. No one gives a shit what a franchise did half a century (or, a legit century) ago. It’s like me telling you that ‘I Love Lucy’ was the greatest show ever because it was popular in the 50’s and has had a smattering of appearances on TV since. My rule of thumb: you can talk about a championship if you have a clear firsthand memory of it. For those of us who aren’t teetering on retirement age that’s 96, 98, 99, 2000, and 2009. Plus, let’s talk about the cheating/attempts at cheating. Between the 1996 ALCS fan interference that somehow didn’t get called to the 2004 ALCS where the fans threw shit onto the field after ARod was rightfully called out for interference to to those two jerkoff guys in right field during this series, Yankee Stadium is known for fans who like cheating. So I wouldn’t even count 1996 because of that bullshit call And, yeah, when you consider the Yankees payroll being either the highest or very close to the highest for years and years and the cheating, I’m surprised they won so relatively few titles.

@@stevenn6410 Yeah let’s conveniently ignore the fact that Ohtani got injured in game 2, leaving him one-handed. You would think Ohtani’s clutch double, which tied it up 2-2 in the 8th in game 1 and set the stage for Freddie’s grand slam heroics, didn’t exist. Without that glorious swing, the Yankees would have practically waltzed through Game 1 without a scratch from that spirit-crushing walk-off. But sure, let’s pretend that spark for the Dodgers was totally irrelevant. Obviously, the series MVP, who spent the entire postseason hobbling around on an injured ankle, didn’t need a shred of confidence booster, right? Classic oversight! The amount of errors from NY is unreal. I’ve been to little league games and children could make less errors than them
And they were little league errors.

Mickey Mantle, in his later years, said his only regret in baseball was the 1960
World Series. He said that was the best team he ever played on. Casey Stengel caught a lot of flak for starting Art Ditmar in Game 1. But Mantle said the thing that cost them the series was lanky reliever Jim Coates' failure to cover first base on a Clemente chopper in the ninth. Mantle, who never criticized a teammate, remembered the '60 Yankees as
having tremendous camaraderie, but Coates' lack of effort and awareness was unacceptable.
They led that series 3-1.

Seriously, it seems everyone has developed amnesia regarding Ohtani's great LCS performance, where he had 1.184 OPS, .364 batting average, leading with 9 runs all while moonwalking through bases with his 17 TIMES on base. With a mind-boggling .818 with RISP, the dude basically turned baseball into an artform. He was the unsung NLCS MVP. But of course, let's pretend none of that brilliance ever happened, all because he didn't magically homer in every game with just one hand in the WS.
Not to mention Ohtani saved the team from getting swept by the Padres with his clutch 3-run homer. Without Ohtani, the Dodgers would’ve undoubtedly thrown in the towel in that game and gracefully rolled over, just as they’ve perfected in the last two year.
While Judge completely choked this ENITRE postseason, batting.184
@@brentt8940he sucked throughout the whole playoffs just as much as Ohtani has
Ohtani had 14 hits throughout the whole postseason
Aaron Judge had 9 hits in total
Yankees losing in devastating fashion… pure cinema
I agree, it almost looked like they did it on purpose to make it entertaining and rigged for vegas. Way more of the public was on the yankees! just sayin, professional baseball players do not make these kinds of mistakes period!!
I waited 15 years for my Yanks to make the World Series again, only for this short choke fest, what a let down.
As the Cleveland fan, the amount of joy I received from the fifth inning alone is immeasurable. I slept like a baby last night…
Watching the Big Christmas home run tie up Game 3 was a thing of beauty.
As a Mets fan I feel the same way…
As a Dodgers fan, this my gift to you Cleveland and Mets fans.
Why? The Dodgers buy every all-star like Steinbrenner did. You need to figure out who the most detestable team is now. It's the store-bought LA Dodgers. Nothing to respect about that pig sty of an organization.
Its coaching! The dodgers coach their players very good. The Yankees dont.
And more hustle.
Dave Roberts gambled on game 4, and 5 with his bullpen decision. If it reached game 6 or 7, the Dodgers would barely have healthy arms to pitch.
@@therealmonkfromtibet I am not talking about managing I am coaching. When a player comes to the Dodgers he learns from the coaches.
@@joelwexler Dodger players have the best part of their career with the dodgers. Garvey, Turner
The shortstop threw one of my old palm ball, gag throws, that never had a chance at 3rd. Cole not covering, then pointing at 1st was beautiful, but the whole clusterfluck starts with Judge trying to think, and look, ahead of the play. Boob.
I am not NY fan but wanted to see the competition. I couldnt believe my eyes in 5th, a little league baseball
No WS caliber team should give up 5 unearned runs in one game, let alone one inning. The Yankees beat themselves this series.
Hell no the dodgers were the better team all year yankees shouldn't even been in the world series they suck
And with TWO (2) outs. They don't want to fly a long flight to LA, and loose, and have to fly a long flight back home.

It just goes to show you. You can be the richest franchise in the league but you can't win without the fundamentals.

Guardians are 24th in payroll and like the Yankees didn't win the World Series.
Guardians have heart though. Yankees have none as shown in gm 5
Babe Ruth has now put a curse on the Yankees for tearing down his house. They were able to win the WS in 2009 because the old stadium was still standing in the shadows.
I cannot get that thought out of my head ! I think you are right
Yankees had mr. October (Reggie Jackson), now they have mr regular season (aaron judge)
Makes me wonder who the Dodgers' Mr. October is right now.
Has there ever been a Mr. November in the MLB, concerning the World Series?
@@RedPyramid-lf4sb Derek Jeter was given the moniker "Mr. November" when he hit a home run in the 2001 World Series on November 1. This was due to the season being suspended a week or so due to 9/11, so this was the first time the Series didn't end in October. Nowadays, November endings aren't uncommon but this is due to the longer postseason as more teams get in.
I remember George Steinbrenner referring to Dave Winfield as "Mr. April" when he didn't perform well in the playoffs.
I would say Dodgers"s resilience could even be trace back to reguler season when they made the biggest comeback of regular season, they down 7 and in 1 inning they earn 9 point... that's showcased how resilient they are
that was just a fluke man. they were down 2 or 3 and couldn't come back multiple times.
That down 7 was gifted by a check swing on Teo, could have gone the other way.

Thank you for all the recap videos Gomer. Onto the offseason
Thank you Yankees fan in G4, you blown the fortune out!
These Dodgers knew how to play the whole game of baseball. Not just a few facets. Congrats Dodgers
Just congratulate the owners for buying all the best players. Doesn't take any brains or intelligence, but if you spend the most to buy all the best, occasionally you will buy a flag to hang in your stadium. Worthless, but I'm sure it looks nice up there.

I was taught to always use two hands, the ball spins, the ball cuts, wind comes into play, lights etc. If judge uses little league teachings that inning may have never happened. Pathetic!

The Yankees need to fire Aaron Boone. Seven seasons and they haven won squat. For the amount of talent on this team, this is inexcusable.
Sad thing id Hal, Boone, and Cashman will all declare that the season was a success, and then show up at Spring training like nothing is wrong. If George were still with us he would have not only have fired Boone and Cashman, he would have done it in the 9th inning before the final out, and he would have it announced it on national television.
other teams have talent too

Major choke job by judge
It wasn't a choke, that happened vs. Mr. Ortiz's Red Sox. This was a simple gentleman's sweep.

My recent Ex gf’s entire family are Yankees fans. This series has been the cherry on top of our breakup.
Rizzo could have easily beat Betts to first.
Let's call it the "Curse of the Boys of Summer". The Yankees and Dodgers met six times between 1947 and 56 and the Yankees won all but one in 1955. However, since then the Dodgers and Yankees have met in four Series in 1963, 78, 81, and 2024 and have won three of four. Revenge may be slow but it sure is SWEET. Let the Yankees wait for next year from now on.
They met in 1977 too. Reggie hit those homers and killed us. The replay of those hits is painful
How much more do they need to pay Cole to make him cover first base?
I was hoping the Dodgers would win the Series but I didn't expect them to so totally crush the Yankees.
Exactly what happened in the 1988 Dodgers playoffs. Nobody saw that coming.
