This is what I respect about Japanese teams and general managers. It isn't always about money or business, or perhaps it still is and we just don't know what goes behind the scene, but the fact that they allow him to be posted when they have all the leverage in the world is admirable. We, the fans, are the biggest beneficiary as we get to see him develop and grow as a MLB player.

LA is the perfect location for Japanese players in my opinion it’s warm has beaches idk if they all did but before he signed Yamamoto would train at UCLA in the off season, it’s closest to Japan geographically so fans could come see them play easier than other teams and there’s already a well established Asian community in California so idk if they’ll get all the guys posted like for example yoshida ended up with Boston though that was before Ohtani went to the dodgers but I feel like the dodgers is just a team who could accommodate them well. The Yankees owners will either go all out on soto which limits what they can do for Murakami or just flat out not go over their current payroll and the mets as much as I feel Cohen could potentially offer more than the dodgers for sasaki or Murakami I don’t see the pull other than the money there’s no historic aura as a casual fan whereas growing up everyone knew about the dodgers whether it was the Brooklyn or LA

This World Series was already a joke, imagine if they played the Royals or the Indians? or the Tigers? MLB will love this, because they want the TV revenue and the Asian market, just like the NBA. He's going to the Giants. They'll throw the kitchen sink at this guy to get their own piece of the Japanese market and I honestly think Sasaki would prefer being in San Francisco over Los Angeles anyway especially as the sole Japanese import player on the squad, doesn't have to worry about constantly playing second fiddle to the Japanese media to Ohtani. The Japanese media are absolutely rabid in comparison to American sports media, especially in the surrounding Southern California area. The media atmosphere is far more relaxed in the bay area and is one of the reasons why I believe pitchers have absolutely flourished there in the last 10-15 years. Makes a wealth of difference as a starting pitcher when you can worry about the game and just concentrate on being a player for 1-7 innings for a couple days a week vs the tabloid pollution that comes with playing in a Los Angeles market that requires balancing some semblance of celebrity status at the same time.
