Outsiders will point to Maldonado and understandably so, but he at least helped a handful of prospects stick in the rotation by his time of departure. Miguel Vargas was actively the worst everyday player on the team and it wasn't even close. Can't hit, can't get on base regularly, endangers people in the field despite being stashed at 3B, doesn't communicate on any play leading to multiple failed relays and errors... One of the worst trade headliners in recent memory

    • @Wolf-wc1js
      @Wolf-wc1js Месяц назад +8

@@DjDrake_8as a Dodger fan I gotta agree with you there. I never understood the hype for him when he first started playing in the majors and when he was dealt at the trade deadline, I remember a ton of Dodger fans being disappointed that he was traded. I remember knowing it was an acceptable trade for getting back Edman and Kopech and that was way before Edman took home NLCS MVP. My rationalization when the memes came out about him being depressed for being traded to the White Sox was that he wasn’t hitting, fielding and had no clear position locked on the Dodgers and trading him landed us a switch hitting gold glove utility player and a flame throwing setup man/closer

A lot of the reason Stripling did so poorly was because of inexperienced catching. He lost his command of his fastball pretty frequently, but would gain it back towards the later half of his starts. An experienced catcher would call breaking balls off the tunnels established by his wild fast balls, until he got the fast ball command back and then use fastballs to close out at bats in later innings. Even with an experienced catcher, and good coaching, he would have been worse than most starters.

Juan Soto is a free agent that needs signed, Tim Hill and Tommy Kahnle need locked down, and there needs to be competent answers at 1B and 2B since Rizzo and Torres are officially gone. But with Hal not wanting to break the bank, the Yankees might end up having to make cuts in needed positions because they still have 2 years on LeMahieu’s goofy huge contract. A contract that demands him get playing time, so he’ll end up dragging down the lineup.

Marlins fan here. Can't believe we wasted a 1 year $5m contract on Tim Anderson. Agreed he was the worst, along with Avisail Garcia. I was rooting for Nick Gordon (half brother of the more famous Dee) to succeed this season. Wasn't the best hitter but man he hustled to get to 1st everytime

Give Miller a dang break, he had the pressure of being the 1st starter carrying the dodgers non existent starting pitching. He got hurt and just like Bellinger in 2020, returned way too soon. Miller should have stayed out until September but he was rushed back 3 times from 3 minor injuries. Buehler has had this same issue in his youth with LA, he just finally is starting to show just how good he can be but yall are gross for throwing miller under the bus while being one of the dodgers only starters for 2 months.

I definitely agree with Allen being the most disappointing for Cleveland. Carrasco being up there in years wasn't supposed to be a starter at all, he was supposed to be a bullpen guy, maybe a long reliever at best. Allen hopefully just had a bad year.

As a Reds fan, I still will say Will Benson. I expected quite a bit more than a sub .200 batting average. You can say that he is meant to be a power hitter but he still did not hit that many home runs. Also the audacity that David Bell had to keep Will Benson in the lineup as Rece Hinds was breaking out. I don’t care that Friedl was back I still would take Benson out of that lineup anytime.

Gah, I was on the DJ Stewart train when he was drafted by the Orioles.
Seeing him live (on TV) was just awful.
    Kimbrel was good...
He fell off a cliff about the ASG to his subsequent DFA'ed.
All in all, the Orioles fired 3 of their "hitting" coaches/bench coaches.
Their crappy hitting approach was not up to par.
From the tail end of the first half to the end of regular season to the playoffs, we stunk.
Personally, I would like to see the team use a small ball strategy along with the HRs/extra base hits.
Nearly all the guys not named Rutschman have some decent speed.
Hit and run, stealing bases to manufacture runs.
Sure, not as fun as HRs but they all count regardless.

What really gets under my skin is how well players tend to do when they go to other teams. But the media and team at large seems to be refusing to believe it's the coaches.

2024 feels like a toss up for the Jays. Bo is a good choice, but was also hurt the majority of the season, which was good and bad judging by his numbers. I'm guessing Daniel Vogelbach didn't make the innings required but he absolutely stunk. Davis Schneider took a big step backwards from his 2023 season. George Springer is not an everyday player anymore because he's just really bad at the plate.
