Bro, your lore is superior to 90% of the official D&D lore on these subjects/characters. I don't even use the D&D lore on Hell, my setting has its own planes and gods, but if I were to...I'd import this lore about Asmodeus. Good work.
Thank you for the kind words! I too love to mix in my own creations and have crafted my own world over many years and I love hearing about the communities homebrew! I appreciate you taking the time to watch and provide such nice feedback, thanks again.
You needn't worry about Asmodeus lore being consistent from edition to edition. His origin story gets rewritten wholecloth with every edition, on purpose. I don't know if I'd call it a meme, or an easteregg, it's just something they rewrite with every edition.
Omg!!! This hit at the as t the perfect time. I literally just took group through an abandoned celestial stronghold in Avernus where they fought they devils who had taken it over and freed a king forgotten celestial. I am totally sending them this video to act as a back story for what they just faced.
Love Riches and Liches Nine Hells content. Love it even more that we’re getting Infernal vs Celestial lore. 4e had its issues with its mechanics but it’s lore is spectacular.
What an inspiring and beautiful tale. Almost brought tears to my eyes. For any story glorifying the ultimate lord of law and order should be a source of motivation for of those that stand before the eternal onslaught of chaos. All hail the true defender of law! All hail Lord Asmodeus!
Somehow, I don't mind that it's "the Lord of Lies" that gets retconned with every iteration. It seems very apt that no one truly knows his background and story.
"Oh, the chaotic irony. So many orderly lives became distorted. Their lives upturned among the disorder." The tall man beams. A shadow swallows his frame, "Don't you start, Set." "Why not?" Set leans in. "My Devilish compatriot." "I am in no mood for your... "Theatrics." I am beginning to regret our bargain." The massive being distorts itself into an Orc. "Oh, come on. This is but a minor inconvenience." Set points towards the unfamiliar set of stones.
Stuff like this makes me wonder how often the celestials lose their members to the fiends, vs the other way around. So far, it seems to me that the former happens a lot more often than the latter.
Good gets corrupted into Evil. The other way around is much more rare, as once tainted, there is a lot that cannot be forgiven and deeds that are truly unredeemable.
Evil corrupts, but "good" doesnt. You can to a degree redeem to good, but to go to an extreme like turning a devil or even a demon into a celestial, is too much of a flip, it would kinda require to be "reborn" to be innocent again, your entire memory wiped, all your sins forgiven. If anything, a "child" of a devil or demon could in some way become a celestial, if they in some miracle decline to give in to their evil nature and avoid falling to any temptation of evil (and most importantly, leave the evil planes asap). There are none such official stories, as its so unlikely to happen, it defies the entire essence of what "good" is , uncorrupted.
Could Asmodeus actually take a full century away from ruling Hell to deal with this fortress? I would imagine the other archdevils would be taking that time plotting and planning mischief while he was occupied.
One might posit that like any general, he orchestrated much of the war from Baator and only came to Malharak when appropriate. That is at least my opinion, the lore is non-existent in this regard. Great question, thanks for sharing!
Wow... this is the first time I've ever heard a positive thing said about 4th edition. For me it was so bad I completely gave up dnd for over a decade. Just as bad as when Disney got control of Star Wars.
Hey R&L, I love the vids! Been listening to them often when going to bed. I was just wondering, where do you get those gorgeous images for your content? Is it AI? And if so, could you please share which one you are using. I would really love to make some stuff for myself :) Thank you and keep up the great work!
The art is generated. While I own the rights via a commercial license to make it, I dare not tread on the ground of artists and claim I "made" it. That said, I do strongly advocate for a portion of the hefty annual price I pay (four figures) to be directed to the many artists who inspired the work, something the courts will have to decide. I know its a touchy subject, but I made the decision that I would not run from it and I respect any and all who choose to not watch or support my channel because of it. I am also committed - as the channel grows and I can accommodate - to the future prioritizing, crediting and paying any artists that wanted the exposure on the channel. I know that is likely more information than you asked for but I get this message a couple of times a month and thought I would create a single thoughtful message and start replying with it. Thank you for watching and the comments!
I wonder if the reason why they rewrite his lore edition after edition is to add to his whole lord of lies thing. Who knows what the truth is and all that. I prefer his origin story of being a massive snake god
I had to look that one up as I was not aware of Lobo from DC... but dang! You are right... not as yoked but definitely could pass for a "leaner" version. Full unintended and i learned something new today... great feedback, I am not more educated. :)

one of the fourth edition books mentioned this, that any of the stories are true, or somehow ALL of them are true, or maybe none of them are.
@@22steve5150well he is the most Mysterious deity..
and this is the reason..
cuz nobody can paint a full picture of him!
Archdevil? Upjumped god? Mask for a primordial evil? Creator deity? Maybe any but always Prince of Lies.
I think that's an in game reflection of the fact that he lies all the time. The different stories are all what he has told different mortals
Just the way asmodeus likes it.

Utterly amazing info and so well done. Very evocative and useful to a DM and a Diabolist in game.
Awesome video as always!
Great story told with awesome narration. Well done sir 👏!
It’s just how Asmodeus seems to like it… when people discus his origin, he loves to keep them guessing😈😈😈
Once again, fantastic job, sir. 🎉 I always appreciate what you do and continue to be impressed each release.
This is sooo good, I always rewatch this!
Super kind of you to say, and I cannot thank you (and this community at large) for such amazing support. /bow

asmo prince of lies my favorite being in d and d loved the story man really loved it
My gosh ALL of the Weapons & Armors in this story look FREAKING SICK. !!!! 😍My Immortal Blacksmith/Battle Master would LOVE to forge these. !! 😁
Change your alignment to Lawful Evil, summon a Greater Devil to transport you to Hell.
Mercy... this is WELL DONE.

Zariel being the text book example. Great comment!
Are there even any canon characters where a Devil or Demon ascends to become some kind of celestial?
That's my main problems with devil lore, it's the same story again and again and again.

Asmodeus could form aspects of himself, so he does not always have to appear in true form.
And now you know that evil will always triumph because good is dumb
I see your Schwartz is as BIG as mine!
I would love more lore like this 4e has some of the best lore it’s just so detailed and filled with flavor

Loved the video. Thank you.
Great story, more In the future 💯
More to come!
Descent into Avernus is in production, hoping for an April release.
I was waiting for this.
I hope it was worth that wait! Thank you for the watch and commenting!

Love the art for the ''He who was''... Ai generated or known artist?

Sorry I was the comment that took the number past 666. Lol love these lore dumps.
Thank you for the kind words, so glad you enjoyed it. New one coming soon!
You should do a video on cloneing for 1E that would be 🔥🔥❤
Epic
Asmodeus looks like Lobo in this video.
I had to look that one up as I was not aware of Lobo from DC... but dang! You are right... not as yoked but definitely could pass for a "leaner" version.
Full unintended and i learned something new today... great feedback, I am not more educated. :)
Cool
Absolutely Mine u77:07i:158@ll 🙈🐙 🤘😈🤟
Any idea what happened to traitor angel?
Its covered in the video. Sarabelos is now an Erinyes leading a company of Merregon devils in the Blood War.
@@RichesandLiches I missed that last part, thanks. I think I may use her in a character concept I had
