You're in luck! I'm currently researching for a video on creatures that are quite a change from the Abyssal fiends. So you can look forward to a lot more lore!
Idea for new character is a Demon Prince that's been exiled and forced to take Mortal form. Paladin Oath of Conquest. They pull their power from their own layer of abyss. How does this sound.
This is the first video of yours I've stumbled upon, and after just a few minutes in I'll confidently say, I can't wait to dive into your backlog and I'll be looking out for future projects. And if you're taking suggestions by any chance, a video over Sigil done with this amount of detail would be awesome. Every video I've seen about it only seems to scratch the surface and just leaves me wanting deeper lore
I've been wanting to look more into Sigil so I'll add this to my list. I still have quite a few projects in the works so it may be a while but I think it sounds like a fun topic.
@@nicthedm7650 it seems like a lot of your stuff is somewhat is tied into the multiverse and sigil is like the that on steroids lol but I'm stoked to hear that man! I'll definitely be keeping up 😁👍🏻
You got me hooked. I can't get away now if I wanted to. The lore got me bro. Planer lore spirals in on itself you know? If I were a Planes Walker I'd be so lost getting into too much trouble. Or dead within a week. Good thing it's make-believe.
Oh trust me, I know! Often while in the middle of working on a video I'll see something that either catches my eye, or something that contradicts another bit of lore I had learned previously and it's down the rabbit hole I go!
48:21 IIRC Dragon and Dungeon magazine's Savage Tide basically retconned the Fiendish Codex 1 Demogorgon into a mere aspect since their version was CR33. Plus Fiendish Codex 2 IIRC called all its archduke statblocks "Aspects" and told DMs to scale up as needed for the originals, which seemed like a "We shouldn't have made the main demon lords that weak" admission.
I remember hearing something about that but I couldn't find it at the time of making this video. It makes sense, but it's also funny considering the stats of 5e Demon Lords. I suppose we can chalk it up to power fluctuating.
I would love an adventure about the revival of Miska and him warring to gain his title back and/or his attempts to revive the Queen of Chaos. I imagine an evil party taking the side of either Demogorgon or Miska. I'd like a merging of the 3.5 e and 4 e lore making the Oberyth trans-multiversal interlopers, while still making Demogorgon, Orcus, Miska etc. Tenar'i and creations of the queen if chaos.
My first dnd campaign is kind of insane as i plan for the Demogorgon to be the final boss, im not using the proper dnd worlds im making my own and years ago a group of heroes trapped all demons and devils back where they came from, so a dude made by vecna ( i cany fit the whole lore in so it sounds weird) got the last stone of darkness and called the demon lords and archdevils and the Demogorgon answered it so vecnas kid stabbed himself with the stone and became vessel of the Demogorgon. Yep its wacky
Sometimes I miss the huge numbers 3.5 could give you. "I rolled a 16, so after all my modifiers, that's a 79. Is that high enough?" Then the DM takes another drink of his Moscow mule and says, "nope, the DC was 80." So much fun.
I needed to talk about Demogorgon a lot in this video because he's pretty much synonymous with the title "Prince of Demons", so to cover all there is about that important title I needed to talk about Demogorgon quite a bit. Don't worry, there is still plenty more about him when I eventually cover Demogorgon in a video specific to him.
@@nicthedm7650 yeah that’s cool boss,I was more curious about the back story to the picture. Like who’s the giant Nordic looking guy? Is that Pale Night? Who has the hood on? What are they discussing? That kinda thing. You’re doing a badass job boss, don’t think I’m criticizing or anything.
It’s from an adventure set before the events in Demons in the Underdark. I had an idea oh homebrew Avamerin into a demon lord after his fall, with different name and titles (for example 'Demon Priest' for serving and trying to revive Sertrous) who plans to, as mentioned, revive Setrous and get rid of the gods after what they did to him. Can this be possible?
I think so. The Demon Lord Adimarchus was a fallen planetar before becoming a Lord of the Abyss. And Avamerin already has a following through Sertrous so as long as he could maintain that power he could absolutely become a Demon Lord.
D&d lore is just messy but it gets even worse in the lower plains, take asmodeus for example a pint of his blood makes at least 1000 pit fiends. Exceptionally strong ones to. Dudes millions of years old and has infinite room to store them, he also desperately wants to rule everything, if he had bled one pint a year for just one million years then he would have 1 billion pit fiends and not a force in all the realms would have a damn chance.
That would be true if fhe blood war didnt exist. Both the devils and demons put so much of their power and resources towards the blood war, its because the abyss spawns so many demons all the time and the devils are the primary force thats holding the demons back from overtaking the other plains. Basically all the other realms are lucky they devils and demons are in a non stop war with eachother. Cause if at anytime the war ends and the demons or devils stop fighting, they could take over all the realms
Certainly! It's detailed throughout the video but in short; the fall of a Demon Lord can lead to power struggles among followers either trying to seat themselves at the top or gathering supporters and splitting off into smaller factions. Then, if the lord controlled a layer of the Abyss, the nature of that layer would change, perhaps even multiple times as it loses a lord only to potentially have another one take control. Then, if it had rivalries with other lords, there is a possibility of other Demon lords coming to claim land, followers, items etc. In short, it creates even more chaos.
Not quite. As far as 3rd edition was concerned. An aspect is a fragment of an entities power given form, it worked independently from the original. An avatar was a power that deities had to create multiple minor versions of themselves that they could see, hear and act through simultaneously. Essentially, avatars were like spells, getting rid of one didn't harm the original and just took time to restore. While aspects the original couldn't actually control remotely and destroying one could lessen the power of the original.
The 4e backstory for the Prince of Demons was.... convuluted. I prefer the underdog story, simple, concise, can actually explain it to my players without needing to info dump for 20 mins. Also shard of evil sounds so juvenile, it was clearly written with edgy teens in mind.
