Ever since Ashley Johnson from Critical Role introduced her new wildfire druid character Fearne Calloway, there's been a major increase in interest for the subclass and I'm happy to say it's one of the better options. So, if you're interested in starting a forest fire, healing some folks, and destructive tendencies, here's a bit more depth on how they work.
A wildfire druid gets a little flaming buddy called a wildfire spirit. It can be a primal spirit, a beast form, or even a humanoid figure, so long as it's fiery. When you first gain the archetype at 2 nd level, you form a mystical bond with a "wildfire spirit" and you get to summon it as an action to a spot within 30 feet by expending a use of your wild shape feature. The spirit stat block is based off your stats and proficiency bonus and advances in hit points and damage as you advance in druid level.
However, a wildfire druid's wildfire spirit isn't terribly strong as other summon spells go, and its strength at early levels is in a "burst" of fire damage when you summon it. Creatures other than you within 10 feet of your wildfire spirit when it's summoned take 2d6 fire damage (reflex save to halve), and you can summon wildfire spirit up to 30 feet out. It can then keep popping up with bursts of fire damage using its fiery teleportation feature, making your fiery buddy a nice little source of damage output during levels 2-5.

Wildfire Druid Warforged, but the character isn’t really a Warforged, but a fire elemental trapped and bound in a Warforged’s armour/body, so when they summon the Wildfire Spirit, they’re actually exiting the Warforged amour, but because they’re bound to the armour, they can’t fully be free. It’s inspired a bit by NRG from Ben 10

Dam, it looks like I'm not as creative as I thought. Same concept with a Fox Spirit I called Pickles. Turn out, she a reincarnation of a players father they lost a while ago, so that a fun joke I can never tell

Your spirit can also teleport you & any willing creature 15 feet away, which helps so much if you’re getting swarmed as a squishy blaster/healer

My Wild Fire is a Goliath and in AL Rime of the a Frost Madden. He is more shaman in flavor and is about preserving the fire of knowledge and heat. Being a cold race in a cold game the idea is he keeps an ever burning lantern and pays devotion to the Surtur Giant god of fire knowledge creativity and the forge.

Thinking of playing a fire genasi who's in a relationship with a sentient volcano, and through their consummation, he was blessed with a little fire baby as his wildfire spirit.

Ayeeeee currently playing my first ever druid, and hes also a lizardfolk wildfire druid! Being the designated healer, i figured wildfire was a great option and MAN its been fun! Figuring out the druid kit has been a process but this circle really helps ease into heals with a side of damage when i get the chance😂my only gripe about wildifre druids (aside from not getting fireball😒) is that the fire spirit goes directly after you, instead of goes simultaneously on your turn. Sort of makes turns a bit clunky since you either gotta hold a cure wounds and use your reaction to cast once the spirit lines up with the target, or use a turn doing something other than heals while the spirit catches up of the front liners are moving around. Other than that tho, playing as Salem has been a blast!

I’m playing a Protector Aasimar wfdruid with elemental adept. The spectral wings are made of flames ❤️‍🔥 the dm granted us firebolt and a very rare fire resistance tattoo. I’m a damage and healing cannon! Scorching ray 10/10 and adding a d8 and aasimar radiant damage really makes my character a force to be reckoned with

I'm running a path of wild magic centaur barbarian, but I recently multiclassed him into a wildfire druid. Narratively it made sense since his mother is a druid and his backstory was that he was very in touch with nature, and it is flavored that he is beginning to get some control over his wild magic (though not a ton of control, and fire seemed thematically appropriate for the chaos). You can't cast spells while raging, so I'm mostly sticking to utility spells, but the spirit teleportation and occasional wild shape for scouting/etc has really made things more interesting than simple chopping things with my axe all the time. Not exactly a power-build, but I'm loving it so far!

My wildfire druid is an Owlkin. So I can silent fly have high stealth. I made a stealth bomber. I built it to serve as several rolls since I'm in a very small group, so I wanted to really pull my weight with versatility.

This subclass has been something I really think should have been played a lot more just off of merit more than just because someone on CR played it. Having this little companion is great, you could have helped a phoenix in danger and it blessed you with this ability so it can always stay close by. Or you just were bit of a strange child that loved fire and began to manipulate it until it formed itself into this entity you played with many time causing mayhem in your wake. There's a lot to do with this since there are no pyromancers within the actual D&D material other than in the Planes Shift material...many DM's don't use, and even then it's wanting for a bit of a increase. This looked fun and exciting and giving more options than just Circle of the Moon for everyone.

My first ever character from dnd was a tiefling druid that was born into a all tiefling village and since he was a baby he always had this tiny fire mouse with him and because of that everyone in the village saw him as a blessing and loved him so much, then all of nowhere when he was a teen a bunch of human nobles invaded the village and enslaved everyone. Time skip some months later and the noble's spoiled daughter came into the village and saw the fire mouse and said she wanted it for a pet and the tiefling naturally refused, the noble commanded the guards to attack the tiefling and take the fire elemental by force and in this moment every villager sacrificed themselves in a bloodbath against the nobles and the sad tiefling now with no family ran away.

My favorite charachter is my kalashtar wildfire druid/hexblade warlock. I know that sounds wierd, especially if you don't know what a kalashtar is. Basically, they're humans connected to the dream realm, so they have psychic powers. His patron is a pheonix who teaches him druid magic and gives him his powers and martial ability. He has a moon touched longsword themed as a sun touched long sword and his curses are themed as setting ones soul aflame. Plus he has telepathy, psychic resistance, dream magic immunity, advantage on wisdom saving throws, the telekinesis feat, and lots of psychic spells from warlock.

I'm playing a human feylost wildfire druid with a single level dip into Peace Domain cleric. I flavour their healing spells as feeling like the wound's being cauterised.
I play them CN being playful, caring, fey-like and childish...but with a wicked temper.
I'm finding I'm mainly using the wildfire spirit for Fiery Teleportation; often to get a party member out of initial trouble. On round 2, I can use Fiery Teleportation to get me out of melee after attacking with Flame Blade (with Enhanced Bond). So melee spell attack for 3d6+1d8 damage followed by the Fiery Teleportation 1d6+PB AoE.

I'm using the new league of legends champion Milio as a DND wildfire druid. It fits really well with his lore and the tone of his childish friendly nature. Yes he can be destructive; haven't we all been/seen kids? They destroy! But also he has a heart of gold and just wants to see his friends succeed. The dramatic shift from burst damage to trying to protect your fiery companion is like when the kid is finally realizing that it may not be all about the flashy fire spells. It's about the friends you protect along the way!

Been having a thought of a humanoid fox for a WF druid. Not entirely sure why.
But I like the idea of a Kobold too. Having the burning desire to be a dragon. Maybe it’s flame buddy is shaped like a whelp. Could rp twist spell casting from mouth 🤷‍♂️

Wildfire Tortle with the Elemental Adept feat. Fun way to get around the high level of creatures with Fire Resistance. The tortle races + a shield give a nice AC. Grab a quarterstaff and Shillelagh if you need a backup, but cantrips are there if I ever get to close combat or run out of spell slots. However, my wildfire spirit (in the form of a rabbit) quickly pulls me out of most danger.

Might do one inspired by majora that classes to a genie or something more martial. Walk into pack. Drop a twinned dagger cloud or web or oil and just bampf out in a blast.

I was thinking of making a Tiefling Wildfire Druid who was bitten by a Lycan who randomly changes into the Lycan and looses control when in Lycan form and has a Stone wolf as my wild fire spirit that goes crazy everytime I turn to a Lycan.

Nonono, you use the wildfirespirit to give you unlimited shortrange teleportation, not for it to cause damage
