When you replace the battery, it can cause the Fob to lose sync on the car. I learned it the hard way. Basically the car was a sitting duck in my driveway. Once I cleared my mind after freaking out, I used the metal key to unlock the car. The alarm went off. I put the FOB in the ignition, turned the engine on. Alarm stopped immediately and the engine started. Everything ok. I turned the engine off, got out of the car, hit "lock" on the FOB and it worked. Pfew!!

Thanks for the video. You just inspired me to fixed by spare key fob. My wife ran it through the wash and dryer. It came apart and I thought that was it, until i just got a wild hair and put it together and replaced the battery. Now if I can find a solution to my rear light bulbs issues.
I have two fobs and they both look exactly like yours at the beginning. I needed to replace the battery so your video has shown me how to do that. And replacement casings only cost £5.10, so I've bought a couple online.

hi all I replaced many batteries and still it was not working. However, I just discovered an issue on both my key fobs that is very simple to solve. When you look at the green electronical board you see this little silver thing standing straight up (2.00 in the video it is on the left top). Check if this part is not bend. On both my keys that part was bend and obviously the board consequently fails to make contact with the battery. I totally overlooked this and maybe others do too - so I hope it helps :)
Replaced the old one with the new one like in the video, car unlocks and locks just fine. And when you insert the key you hear the usual click telling you the steering lock is opened but you cant turn the key.
Hi, I really need help with a problem with my 2003 9-5 Aero and pronto. I've got to replace the electronic kit (8549966). Now, it's expensive as HELL to get a new or even used part for my 9-5, but at a local pick-and-pull I found a 2000 9-5 that might have its module/kit intact. Do you think it would be possible to take that part and marry it to my car, even though they're different years? Please somebody respond if this is possible and if so how I'd do it, the sooner the better because I need this fixed SOON. thank you!

You know the connector that gets the negative and positive terminals on the battery well mine broke off it it possible to be welded back on
My microswitches broke off, tried to replace them with new switches. My eyes aren't that good. Can you do mine?... if so , where are you located?... How much?...

My remote was working properly with my SAAB 93. One morning when i tried to unlock my car through the remote, it didn't work. The car is starting properly but the doors and trunk are not unlocked/locked through remote. I changed the battery but still didn't work, please advise.....

No, your'e only replacing the outer case.
Daughter lost the side that has that green circuit board where do I get the board ?
You should use proper cloves before starting to change the battery and even more when changing the case. Believe me, it'll save you from a lot of unnecessary trouble.

Hey man, good video. Can you tell me if you recommend to get a Saab 9-3 linear 2006 with around 70000 miles, how hard to get reapir the car it is? I mean, to get the autoparts and stuffs. Thanks.
i think SAAB 9-3 is a great car and i would buy it again and again for the right price. It is still fairly easy to get it serviced in my area. Autozone still sales its parts, local Cadillac dealer still offers repairs and service. Having that said, parts are more expansive than Japanese cars but less than European cars.

actually GM bought Saab many years ago and most of the parts are GM. I have a 2005 93 Convertible and parts are easy to find cause they are all GM. My last part I bought was a shared part with a Dodge Neon. Saab has not been European in over 15 years........... Still love my Saab though

Amanda Powers either bad battery on key or the ignition switch is bad happend to my saab they tend to go bad mine is. A 9-3 but it’s basically the same technology you have to replace it with another one... their is no required. Programming I suggest getting it at your local junkyard they tend to be pricey
I have the same issue. I replaced the shell, which unlocks the steering wheel but will not turn. Have you found a solution?

+Connie Benjamin No, you have to buy the FOB from the dealer or a vendor. Those get pricey. Unless you have a Tech2 you cannot program it to the car. If you lost your only key, you are out about $1,000 dollars as you have to replace the CIM too which is inside the large plastic housing behind the steering wheel.
That doesn't look like it lines up very well.
